Is it just me? (summoning related)

Featured Replies

This may seem like an odd question to start a thread over but ah well, i'm an odd sorta person :P

Over the past two or three days i have noticed a large amount of summoning creatures wandering the streets with their owners. As far as i know there havn't been any updates that involve summoning at all.

The only reasons i can think of are:

1) One person got their creature out and it started a chain reaction.

2) Everyone wants to see what their creatures look like in HD

I've seen countless creatures about, such as a variety of minotaurs, fruit bats, unicorns and titans just wandering around. Surely someone wouldn't waste a very useful pouch just for the sake of having a lovely little unicorn behind them?

People finally realize that summoning is useful. Its as simple as that.

Probably number 2.

i doubt it, the updates have been out 3 weeks now, everyone that uses familiars have already seen their familiars the day it came out (so that would be everyone with like 52+ summon)

its just people getting higher and higher levels, everyone seems to be training summon as most as possible. the higher lvls people get the more they actually use familiars (as some are really usefull) and as a result youll see more and more familiars out.

also pouches arent valuable AT ALL lol

Im one of those people :D

For me, it's because im finally training summoning =P

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. It's always like that with new skills, people start using them a lot more after around half a year.

[insert birds flying in a circle here]

Yes, that sig was annoying.

At this point, everyone who was training summon by tears of guthix only is reaching the level 40-50 range. So now we are seeing a larger number of people just using them for fun since they have the levels. Also, the average scaper who is training summon is now reaching about level 70. So they have a wide variey of familars to chose from and are using them. Its now become more publicly accepted to use summons everywhere.

Its the reverse of what happened in the past. People use to make fun of others for training their summon before, but now people see how cool/useful the skill is, and its accepted that you need to use summons in certain situations, and sometimes even required.

Also, it depends where you look. Edgeville is one of the summon hubs of Runescape. RC'ers use summons there, Slayers bank there with bunyips, People going to GWD often bank there, along with any general traffic. Really depending on your location your going to see alot more of them in some areas.

That's because when it was introduced, it was not useful. -.- Took jagex a couple of updates to get it right.

I know that I always seem to have a summon behind me now, because as others have stated, once you get over about level 50 it becomes very useful. I usually either have a kyatt or terrorbird behind me at all times, and can't wait til I hit 68 for the bunyip and tortoise.

No more orange hair :(

When the skill was introduced the majoritory of people training it were rushing to be the first to 99, or at least to a very high level. Thus they never really took the time to find out what the familiars could used be.

What you are seeing now are those people raising summoning and taking their time exploring the skill. These people are finding good uses for the various familiars and are then passing on the benefits to those people who "speed" skilled. This means that more and more people are actually using their familiars.

I did not start training summoning until a month after it was released (now level 56) and I took my time finding out what each familiar was capable of (and having conversations with them - some of these conversations are quite hilarious  ). Most, I found, were of no use to me, being 119 combat and at least 70 in all the other skills, but I still experimented and have found some useful ways in which I can use (and profit from) some of them. Although I am a bit unhappy that Jagex have nerfed the spider familiar so that it gives less red spiders eggs with its special (initially I was getting 15-20 eggs per 10 specials, now its more like 10, or less) as I was making some useful money from it.

I would. It's called a temporary pet.

And anyway, yes, it's just you. I haven't noticed a difference, and I've been an avid trainer and user of summoning since it's release.

NO, I trained my summoning (lvl 54) almost exclusivly with ToG and I only started doing that in early/mid march, so anyone else whose done it from earlier would have a much higher level.

Not necceserily, some people might not be very good at tears or forget a few times or not have very long in the cave itself due to quests etc. I think I got to level 53 before actually starting to make pouches. I'm level 59 atm and have run out of charms. I havnt started collecting charms yet.
