May 18, 200917 yr I recommend Cymbals Eat Guitars to anyone who likes a good indie rock band. I just found them today browsing Pitchfork.com and had to go out and buy their CD, only thing is that they don't have a record label yet so there are very few places to buy it. I bought their CD off insound and I also downloaded it off some blog while I wait for the CD to arrive.

I know lala.com has the related artists, but I never trust those lists, so from one indie fan to another, what artists would you say they are like? Last.FM!
May 18, 200917 yr Those songs on their lala page sounded a lot like Animal Collective's Strawberry Jam album. I liked them. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

For the most part I can't really relate them to another band. They are kinda just doing there own thing. Animal Collective is a fair comparison with maybe a mix of like Sunset Rubdown/ Wolf Parade. Like I said they are really just doing their own thing here, its hard for me to compare.

I was thinking of checking out Wolf Parade because I am a big Arcade Fire fan, not sure if you heard of them or not, but Wolf Parade is the number 1 band in similar artists for Arcade Fire, so I think I would like them. What songs/album should I check out by Wolf Parade? Last.FM!

June 23, 200917 yr Trying to revive this thread. Can someone recommend me some great viking/folk metal. Im really getting into it. I already listen to (some arent 100% folk metal but most are close) Finntroll, Ensiferum, Blackguard, Amon Amarth (I know they are melo-death), Wintersun, and Thronar. I am already getting Orphaned Land, Equilibrium, Elvenfris, Moonsorrow, and Windir. Any help appreciated. 8,180WONGTONG IS THE BEST AND IS MORE SUPERIOR THAN ME#1 Wongtong stalker.Im looking for some No Limit soldiers!

Asmegin - Viking/Folk Borknagar - Viking/Folk Crimfall -Viking/folk with symphonic/progressive influences Draugnim - Black Metal / Folk Metal / Pagan Metal / Viking Metal / lil bit of all lol & last elexorien it's a Dutch band with female vocals (though still viking) maybe you'll like it, if you want more names just ask. Enjoy : Anyway if people could suggest me something out of the ordinairy (that includes either an epic oldschool unknown hardcore band or some acid rockers) just no metal, suggest away! ;>
June 24, 200917 yr Perhaps you would like Mister M. they are a really good electronic band that plays in sort of a post-rock style and has a very relaxed feel. You can legally download their discography here. I recommend the album Rezolution. I'd prefer some nonmetal this time.
June 24, 200917 yr Alamaailman Vasarat. They're an avant-prog/klezmer/jazz-fusion band from Finland. In earlier albums they used primarily distorted cellos instead of guitars, which made their sound pretty heavy and driving. Their newer stuff is good, but it doesn't really match the raw power and intensity of their first two albums. Kaarmelautakunta is my favourite album by them, so get that if you're interested at all. also they sound nothing like Apocalyptica. 100% better than that. [yt]I-PlKlsOdZA[/yt] Excuse the awful quality. But yeah, that's the only way I can really describe them to you. Steam | Soup | Last.fm

I noticed that you've been mentioning post-hardcore a lot lately, so try Thrice (sorry if you already listen to them). They are mainly a post-hardcore band, but they experiment with a lot of other things. My favorite album of theirs is The Artist in the Ambulence, though most people like The Illusion of Safety best.

They sound a little like Cult of Luna in places, and some of their stuff is pretty hard to listen to. Get Leaves Turn Inside You - it's an amazing album. Steam | Soup | Last.fm
June 25, 200917 yr This may be a strange question...but how in the world can you be ambient and post-hardcore at the same time? :| Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
June 25, 200917 yr This may be a strange question...but how in the world can you be ambient and post-hardcore at the same time? :|Unwound is weird. ;D They span noise rock, post-hardcore and minimalism, and the music sounds quite empty and calming at times, which is why I call it ambient post-hardcore. June 26, 200917 yr Mithotyn. Erm, I'd call it black metal or something, but I dun really know. I'll just link their Last.Fm page, I guess. http://www.last.fm/music/Mithotyn sleep like dead men wake up like dead men

July 3, 200917 yr Born of Osiris. Not really the best, but you might actually like deathcore. 8,180WONGTONG IS THE BEST AND IS MORE SUPERIOR THAN ME#1 Wongtong stalker.Im looking for some No Limit soldiers!
August 19, 200916 yr Alright, help. I like the Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly. I have no idea who either of those bands are, so... how about some nice Turin Brakes. You might like it, you never know : Their best songs are probably State of Things and They Can't Buy The Sunshine... Underdog is really nice as well :) I like lots of kinds of music but I'm really not into hard rock/metal at all. Anything with nice guitars and vocals is cool though. ;)
