Omali
It has come to our attention that many players are quite unhappy with the changes put in place between last December and present. As you all know, the updates on December 10th, 2007 and subsequent updates were meant to combat Real World Trading while bringing back the old luxuries our players once enjoyed. So without further ado, let's look at the changes! [hide=Grand Exchange]Due to player confusion, you may now find more information in the Knowledge Base pertaining to different restrictions put in place on the Grand Exchange, such as selling and buying times and quantities. In order to keep our players informed, the timers on your account will not be displayed when attempting to sell or buy an item. For example, were you to put one an offer for one thousand yew longbows, you would receive your initial one hundred and your offer box will now show how long you will have to wait for your next shipment as well as the maximum per shipment. Not a fan of the Grand Exchange? Well you will be now, as we go into our second change: The prices on many items have changed to suit the expectations of the buyers and sellers on the market. We have also unfrozen items that previously would never change prices. We have made it a priority to get the prices right and make the Grand Exchange a suitable replacement for the following:[/hide] [hide=Trade System Changes]On one side, you'll be disappointed to hear that the trade limit is still in effect. Luckily, it only applies to gold coins! However, with the Grand Exchange now accurately portraying prices, we have decided to remove the ability to trade most items between players in an attempt to control "junk trading". As this method of trading is no longer necessary due to the aforementioned fixed prices, the items permitted for direct trade between players has been compressed in a smaller category. Armour, weapons, and most other items will no longer be tradeable except for on the Grand Exchange. Do not fret adventurers! Food and Potions are treated differently than the rest of the group. We would like to make a blatant point that these items will not show up to other players when dropped on the ground. As already said, food and potions will be treated differently. In order to promote more cooperation among players, the system of trading foods and potions is changed to be different from what you're accustomed to, but all the more useful. You will have a limit on how many foods and potions you can hand out for any given 24 hour period (a period that starts when you first give either item) The limit on foods is 100 pieces of food per day, while the limit on potions is 20 (Due to potions obviously having more time value than food). This system is in place for friends to provide one another with health and vitality while still keeping out Real World Item Traders. As you can tell, this may significantly increase the trade limit for you, as over 100k worth of food and/or potions may be traded even at once. Should you be on the receiving end of these foodstuffs, you will find them slightly different than your normal foods. The foods and potions obtained in this method cannot be resold or stacked with regular foods, but must be consumed by the player. They will be dropped upon death, unlike lended items, however. Once again, this system is to aid friends, much like Item lending.[/hide] [hide=Item Lending Changes]Item Lending has also seen a large update today with a massive amount of items now lendable to your fellow adventurers. In addition to armors and weapons being added, players may now lend skill based items ranging from chisels, tinderboxes, and even pickaxes and hatchets! This will allow players to continue playing as close to normally as possible while still being able to light that fire when they find themselves without a tinderbox in the Kalphite tunnels.[/hide] [hide=Bounty Hunter Changes]Players will find that Bounty Hunter has undergone a massive structure change to accomodate for different players problems with the formula. The first thing you will notice in Bounty Hunter is that there are three new shops running outside, manned by...Who is this? Miles, Niles and Giles? They have convinced Mandrith to take Bounty Hunter and turn it into a more businessy approach. Going back to their old tradition of serving players rather than annoying them, the three business brothers will be selling your items to your enemies should you lose them. The shop runs off of a player stock system much like any store you'll find, except they are powered by what players refer to as "death piles". As an example, a player is killed and loses a godsword, full dragon armor, and a half inventory of sharks. Miles will now have another Godsword in his shop, Giles will have more dragon armor, and Niles will have more food and possibly some potions and runes. These items will be tradeable for, you guessed it, destruction! Destruction is gained when you kill other players, depending on the market value of the loot that they drop combined with the market value of the items you are holding. Being the calculated businessmen they are, Miles, Niles, and Giles will give you a numerical estimation of how much destruction you've caused, which you can then use to spend on whatever the store may have in stock from player's deaths. Remember, the stock is finite. While ridding someone of their godsword will not give you enough destruction points to get a godsword of your own, it will certainly give you enough to grab some more food with plenty left over to dive back in and into the fray. Aside from the deathpile changes, we have also changed some core functions in Bounty Hunter. The penalty is still in effect if you kill someone other than your bounty or hunter, but the time has been significantly lessened to only a minute, of course that will be removed instantly if you kill your bounty, and your remaining time halved if you kill your hunter. So you may be asking yourself, why even have a bounty? Killing your bounty gives you a bonus percentage of destruction when he drops his loot. Bounty Hunter is a game of risk, and Madrith wants to keep it that way. For months, he has been forced to watch sneaky fighters come with nothing more than monk robes and a dragon dagger. Well, he has finally put his foot down and decided that this practice will no longer be beneficial, and cowardice will no longer be tolerated. Should a player leave Bounty Hunter whilst in combat, he will be temporarily banned from the mini-game until he pays a fine starting at 10 thousand gold and gradually rising0 every time the player commits such an act of cowardice. It must be all those questionably ethic busines practices Mandrith is learning from Miles. Players will only need to pay the find if they fled Bounty Hunter after initially starting the combat with the player they ran away from[/hide] [hide=Skill Assist Changes]Skill Assist has had a change to go along with the quest system allowing players to increase how much experience they can gain up along with their trade limit. So if your trade limit is 3k, your assist limit is 30k, while if your trade limit is 30k, your assist limit will be 60k. While this may not seem by many players as a large improvement, it is still double the earlier limit[/hide] [hide=Shop Changes]Shops also receive a huge update this week. The banks of Runescape have seen fit to give store owners the ability to hand out bank noted items at their shops for players in a hurry. Due to the surcharges placed on the general stores, they will be forced to charge more (slightly higher than the maximum market price) for the service of noted items, but this should make buying noted items in bulk much easier, such as vials and eyes of newt.[/hide] [hide=Gravestone Changes]Gravestones are now calculated and kept serverside, meaning that if you lose connection and die, your items won't be lost forever. Unfortunately, that's the furthest we can go, as this will only help with momentary disconnections, and your gravestone timers will remain active until they run out.[/hide] [hide=Random Events]Random events have been retired from their jobs of hunting autoers, and they are glad to get a vacation. Don't think they're leaving Runescape though, they have all found jobs somewhere else! Miles, Niles, and Giles have decided to return to business, and have offered to help out Mandrith get just a little moolah out of his Bounty Hunter mini-game. The Drunken Dwarf is traveling to pubs all around Runescape to say hello and share his favorite hobby. Drinking! Catch him at your favorite bar and he may just have a kebab and beer for you, and he may just teach you a thing or two about beers while he's at it. The sandwich lady has found her calling at the food courts in Ardougne, where you will find her and her ready to steal-I mean buy, sandwiches, baguettes, and bread rolls. The Drill Demon has taken on Lumbridge, and booted out the combat tutors! As displeased as he is to continue handing out the regulation training weapons and runes, he'll gladly throw in a suit of camoflage armor if you can follow his instructions on the training field, including your favorite jumping jacks, situps, pushups, and star jumps! The Freaky Forester has moved his pheasant farm to Rimmington, where players can still eagerly take his orders for certain tailed pheasants in exchange for his clothes, or just take the meat and eat it themselves! The frog Prince and Princess were spotted at the Miscellenia castle trying to seduce the princess and prince respectively. The Genie was surprised and overtaken by his lesser half, the evil genie, and is now trapped inside of his lamp, hidden somewhere around Gielnor. If you happen to spot it, pick it up and rub it to free him and get a nice xp reward. On his crusade to give back to the public whether they like it or not, Rick Turpentine attempted to give several sapphire to an unwilling patron, and then attacked him. Unfortunately, that patron was the Duke Horacio, and Rick now sits in the Port Sarim jail. Doctor Jekyll has moved in with the good scientist in Draynor Manor, and while the two were working on his portal, was zapped with a combination of electricity, and a foul smelling goo. While Jekyll still has his transformations from time to time, he is now unlikely to attack anyone wandering around the mansion...Hopefully. Cap'n'Hand has settled down for a more comforting life, roaming the seven seas! After receiving an offer from Bill Teach, Cap'n'Hand has graciously accepted the offer (We believe his response was "Yarr") and is now running the charts. Odd One Out, the game show where players answer questions and then choose a prize, has been cancelled unfortunately due to lack of funding for the cabbages and spinach rolls required for the mystery boxes. Nobody knows where Evil Bob is now. Last reports indicate he has been kidnapping monks of Entrana, maybe because they are too peace loving to fight back? Where does Prison Pete fit into all this, and why does he keep showing up in prison? Mr. Morduat has moved his classroom to the Stronghold of Player Safety, where he will be conducting the examinations of new players and teaching them the fine art of keeping oneself safe. The Beekeeper has moved into the tutoring business and will aid players in the art of collecting wax, and making candles and other bee-related creations. Leo the gravedigger has been given a job working in the Lumbridge graveyard, although he is still having problems getting the graves right. Match the coffins to their headstones and he may reward you with a suit of zombie clothes and emotes. And last but not least, the Mime has been quite depressed since his relieving and has moved up north with the Oracle on the Ice Mountain. Great, one doesn't talk, and the other we can't understand.[/hide] [hide=A Truckload of small changes]The torch no longer has Extinguish as the first option. Left clicking will not "use" the item. Pure essence will be removed from the game and replaced with Rune essence, available to all players. To compensate, members will receive the difference in the average market price between the pure essence and rune essence for every unit they have converted. You will find your runes converted when you log in. The Trawler has been updated to remove players leeching off of others. Much like the system in Pest Control, players must do their part in working on the boat in order for the profits to be spread their way. "I am Muted" is now a quickchat phrase, but only available to players who are actually muted. The phrases will be either "I am Permanently Muted" or "I am temporarily muted". We would like to remind players that abusing the quick chat system after a mute to flood the chat will result in a ban, as it will be obvious you won't be learning your lesson easily. There is now a toggle for our filter, however if your filter is off you will not be able to report for rule 1, offensive language, as a tradeoff. Spamming the chat is now under its own rule separate from rule 1, as to remove confusion from players not knowing if it was reportable under Rule 1. The Ignore list has been updated and will allow for adding 100 more players in addition to the spots already available. The Friends list has received a similar update. Menus will no longer close while in combat, instead the corners of your screen will have a reddish haze when you are hit to let you know you're being attacked, in addition to the already existing sounds. You will not be fighting back while you have a menu up though, so do this at your own risk. Legacy Blackmarkts from before 2006 will be removed on January 1st, 2009. We believe three years is enough to learn your lesson.[/hide] I'm off to bed now, but I will come back and answer questions anyone has as well as amend if people think of something I hadn't. rsoxfan3
I don't like your idea about random events. There will be a lot of unhappy players who happened to get them by chance and now anyone can get them for free. Also, the were for everyone before, but some of the places you mentioned were in Member areas. I do like the I am muted option ,though, and I would like to see more items able to be lended. The bank notes from shops is another good idea GUESS WHAT? The RED SOX and PATRIOTS are awesome, and there is nothing you con do about it.CURRENT GOALS: Smithing 42/50...Fishing 47/50...Magic 35/33 Completed!! ...Attack 40/40 Completed!!!I bought bgs 29.1m 3 days ago, sold yesterday at 30m (for those who are mathematically challenged: 800k profit). Insane epic fail....
The Observer
I don't like the ones about removing the xp giving random events. They're always very useful.
jedislayer14
tbh i dont like almost all the ideas that i have read.. :shame:. i read the bounty hunter ones and that is just a horrable idea. i hate the idea of pking a god sword and being like omfg yes! oh wait all i get is points to get some sharks. and the ideas about the randoms are dumb since lots of people have been trying to get the full set and now people can just go to the npcs and get the sets in like 10 minutes.. :? thats just my oppinion tho 1 defence pure pvp vid 1: Proud to have achieved 97 cooking F2P
Arilauske
RuneScape isn't broken so it doesn't need fixing. Although I do think, with a little revision, your Bounty Hunter looting idea could work out.
magicmagicy
Grand Exchange: I think its going to be quite hard to add a timer, it would seem like quite a bit of work for something we can just do in our heads. As for making the prices right, it will probably happen gradually with jagex fixing the ones they think they need to fix. Trade system suggestion: You have just created the worst idea possible here. Not being able to trade with your friends! How stupid is that. You would be forced to travel to the GE for every single transcation you make. Not only is this annoying, but it also taking out a key aspect of the game. THere will be also things people as junk, even if you don't. it will be impossible to get rid of junk trading. As for the food and potions, no thx. Item lending changes: They're already working on that. Bounty hunter changes: You already recieve money for killing. For me to really judge this you need to show a formula that shows us how much "destruction pts"you recieve per kill and how much "destruction pts" each item is worth. As for running away in combat and paying a fine? No thanks. If you have just killed 3 people and you have their loot, you're down to your last bits of food and your being hunted, you would make them pay 10k for leaving? Even the best knows when to quit. Shop changes: If you really want that item noted, just use the GE. NO thanks to random events, just keep it. Most of these ideas are crap, as there is nothing wrong with them right now. Sorry. HoMM88
Magicmagicy explained almost all. Your ideas arent well enough thought out, and are selfish tbh. My goals: [b]5M coins:[/b] 4350K+ coins 200k+ items - 2 dec 5M coins - 16 dec I [b]have gotten[/b] my 5M by christmas. -bah this is only here for historical purposes now, I got 20m+ already "fail, well atleast the title,i wont read it with that colours""If you hadn't posted in rainbow I would actually give this a proper read""Colours suck."*I remove colours*"Where did all the colors go!? This is now 40% more likely to be tl;dr'd due to the lack of colors."
Zaaps1
I like it, but there's got to be a limit on those random events! I mean, serious, think of the xp with all those books of knowledge! ~It's Super Effective! Guest
Your BH idea is terrible... But, mabye there could be a new bh, with no risk and items supplied for you, but KEEP THE OLD ONE! Also, i dont like some of your other ideas...Nearly all of them, to be more spefific... If you focus on ONE or TWLO ideas though, you might rally have something good ;)
Crimsoncow42
Your ideas arent well enough thought out, and are selfish tbh. His ideas are definitely well thought out and definitely not selfish tbh. How can they be selfish when they take away things to make Runescape a better(?) place in his opinion. I can see a lot of people getting angry just because they can no longer junk trade. D. V. Devnull
Omali, you blew it with Randoms, Trade, G.E., and Bounty Hunter... I give NO support to those. :shame: As for the rest, I'm not too sure whether to support or not. :-k ... Quite a bit is nicely thought out, but it feels like something is just missing. (Although, I'd love to have Normal Rune Essence back as a way to gain P2P-made runes.) And BTW, please, when suggesting something like this... DON'T write it like a RS Update!!! Seriously, it throws the mind, and can cause aggressive feelings. :wall: ~Mr. D. V. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)
PastyGangsta
Some of your ideas are nice, the Bounty Hunter one might work, but Jagex will have to add their own little spin on it that makes it pointless. Instead of removing random events, why not just make them a lot more random? Make their appearences decrease, so they actually become more of a rare occurence, rather than something that you can time a watch by. However, all randoms should be removed from the GE, so it is impossible to get them while inside the outer walls. This would reduce lag, and annoyance since now you get a random almost every time you tele out of the GE.
compfreak847
Very, very nice. I love the GE\Trade\BH updates - they would completely and totally kill RWT for once and for all. Not sure about randoms, though - I've still seen quite a few autoers\auto account trainers\AFK people floating around, and I like the rewards of most of the randoms. Just lower the frequency on the long ones (Molly, anyone? I got her 6, count em, 6 times in one day of smithing. Lots of gems, but quite a pain, especially when I'm lagging from a download. Great ideas though! Even though some would not support, I would be cheering the day I saw all of these (word for word) on the front page of runescape.com. Seriously, its the best and most-well-thought-out suggestion(s) I've ever read. Good job. (But go easy in the rants forum  ) Drops: 1x Draconic Visage, 56x Abyssal Whip, 5x Demon Head, D Drops: 37, Barrows Drops: 43, DK Drops: 29GWD drops: 14,000x Bars, 1x Armadyl Hilt, 2x Armadyl Skirt, 4x Sara Sword, 1x Saradomin Hilt, 8x Bandos Hilt, 8x Bandos Platebody, 9x Bandos Tassets, 4x Bandos Boots, 43x Godsword Shard, 82x Dragon BootsDry streak records: Saradomin 412 kills Bandos 988 kills Spirit Mages 633 kills - Slayer Sucks

Hawks
The limit on foods is 100 pieces of food per day, while the limit on potions is 20 (Due to potions obviously having more time value than food). Should be adjustable (You should be able to trade more than 100 shrimp but only 100 cakes.) i.e. same total HP (maybe 1000 HP worth of food? how many HP does a whole swordfish heal?) Should a player leave Bounty Hunter whilst in combat, he will be temporarily banned from the mini-game until he pays a fine starting at 10 thousand gold and gradually rising0 every time the player commits such an act of cowardice. That should probably be less, 1k? Each time you do it, increases by 1k... The frog Prince and Princess were spotted at the Miscellenia castle trying to seduce the princess and prince respectively. This is a non-members event as well. Should be in a F2P area. And last but not least, the Mime has been quite depressed since his relieving and has moved up north with the Oracle on the Ice Mountain. Great, one doesn't talk, and the other we can't understand. Can you still get the mime rewards in F2P/P2P? Very good overall. I support all of them except these, and I still support them; just my two cents about how they should be changed for the better. sig by Soa.....tip.it times.....art & mediadeviantart/flickr/last.fm/steam/twitter/tumblr/youtube
