  • You might also want to watch the Toaru series. I think it could appeal to you.   That aside, Puella Magi Madoka Magica is mandatory. Watch it first. If you can find a fansubbed DVD/Blu-ray version som

I've been watching the anime and the fansubbers are atrocious also. I would die happy if I never saw the word 'nakama' untranslated again.

Genkaku picasso was good. Remember reading a preview in shonen jump and looked for it online, then got the second volume of the graphic novel

Kill la Kill is great. I love it, and it's shaping up to be a very heavy show.

Coppelion is starting to get good after a weak showing of the first 3 episodes.

Watched Princess Mononoke and Space Battleship Yamato 2199 (a few episodes), but these are my first ever animes. And I think I would be better off with feature films, since I have no time for series. But any suggestions/essential animes?

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

Everything ever made by Studio Ghibli, because they're the greatest. Spirited Away is probably a good pick.

Besides that, look around for some shorter series. There are a good number with around 12-14 23-minute episodes; some even have movies that cut out some less important material and whatnot for a more concise storyline, usually with higher production budgets. I don't know your tastes, but Neon Genesis Evangelion (which is about giant robots) is something of a cultural icon and is 3/4ths of the way through a series of shiny new movie remakes (starting with "You Are (Not) Alone"), so that might be worth watching. If it turns out to be too depressing, you can try watching Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (which is also about giant robots).

Depending on your tastes, you may also hate the series' ending. If so, there's End of Evangelion.

finished Genkaku Picasso. I liked it a lot and would recommend it to anyone who likes art or psychology.

The third Evangelion movie.

Coincidentally, does anyone know if the Monogatari series is still worth watching? I stopped after Bake and a little of Nise.

heyyyy i finished snk after stopping somewhere 10-13, when the lack of budget or animators or time or whatever was getting real apparent. it's definitely very interesting, w/a lot of room for explanations and worldbuilding and stuff, so i'm probably going to keep watching. probably even read the manga, just to avoid being spoiled and stuff. i guess the action scenes will lose a lot not being animated but i'll deal.

i'd watch hours of titans just running all wacky over the hillsides tho that shit rivals cute cat videos

klk still da best

So now that the fall 2013 anime has finished airing...

I'm thinking of watching Kill la Kill, Golden Time, Noucome, Outbreak Company and Log Horizon. Opinions on these? Got any other recommendations?

For the love of god, watch Kill la Kill

It's the most awesome [bleep]ing show ever made, in the most utterly ridiculous ways

Second only to Gurren Lagann in its glorious absurdity

Not to mention a large portion of the music is by the same guy who did the Attack on Titan soundtrack

Just listen to this shit

Kill la Kill is great, funny, and just the right amount of action/plot. Log Horizon is appealing, especially since we have all played Runescape.

speaking of, the kill la kill ost leaked and it's real great

Neon Genuises is my favourite anime

Not actually though

Attack on Titan is cool in that it seems to appeal to almost everyone, though personally I don't like it all that much
