All of the visuals are vastly improved (the backgrounds were amazing), and the battle scenes and major plot points were strung out a bit more and made prettier, but in exchange they had to drop some of the less important plot points (a non-spoiler example would be that the opening "dream" sequence of Homura fighting Walpurgisnacht is left out).But the two movies together are about the same length as the anime, and you're not missing much if you watch one and not the other. So more eyecandy and much better animation, but no new plot points. Still worth seeing if you can find a friend to go with, though. It forces them to stay until the plot twists. The third movie is definitely going to be new, though. I just hope it can live up to its predecessors. The only difference between Hitler and the man next door who comes home and beats his kids every day is circumstance. I finished FMA and am now working my way through Brotherhood. I feel like the original anime must have pissed of the manga fans a lot.... I usually hate the genre for being too cheesy, but the characters are lovable and the storyline doesn't get overly dramatic. I recently finished FMA Brotherhood (brilliant show) and am now working on Shadow Star Narutaru.Shadow Star seems to be doing a Madoka-esque bait and switch but it worked less well because it's based on a manga (also it has the slowest pacing I've ever seen in a 12 episode series). I've also started a new thing where I'm letting a JS script choose a new series completely at random. The first one was: Baki The Grappler. The ending made me rage. Not because of what happened, but because of what didn't happen. I'm currently watching Cardcaptor Sakura. It's one of those Saturday morning cartoon animes with a monster of the week plot. It made for an awkward moment as no-one left the theater when the movie supposedly "ended" because they knew the Homura epilogue was coming, and then we sat through the second credit set in hopes of a sneak peak as the theater staff shot us dirty looks. I find it really difficult to watch anime that tries to appeal to viewers in a sexual manner, and within the first 5 minutes there were two upskirts and a closeup of cleavage, and every female character is rather suggestive looking... Nexaduro Posted February 17, 2013 Share Posted February 17, 2013 Two things I didn't see;The Full Metal Panic manga has been awesome and near the end-bits of Sigma really tragic; I'm not sure if the anime is as good, but it may be worth checking out. You should also watch the sequel series to ATLA, The Legend of Korra, if you haven't. It's shorter, a bit more mature, and maybe a bit angsty, but the fight scenes are absolutely gorgeous and there's this one bit of the last episode... SO MANY FEELS Also I really liked Ouran Host Club. I believe it's regarded as the most universally accessible Shoujo series, so I'm probably not the only one.
