Anywho, I'm reading Lone Wolf and Cub since my Dad read it in the eighties and said it was pretty kickass if you liked historic mangas. It's actually pretty good. Next I'm gonna read Sanctuary and I'm also slowly going through Bobobo because that's one of the franchises that got me into anime. It's kind of funny. If your high it's friggin' hilarious! I think we're watching Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei next week. Black Cat was probably one of my first manga's, that and Bobobo and One Piece. Jernlov Posted December 22, 2009 Share Posted December 22, 2009 I posted this in the movie thread, but I didn't really want to go too in-depth there (and not to mention, it's far more suitable for this thread anyway): 5 Centimeters per Second. Wow; just... wow. I was not prepared for it at all. Actually, it completely destroyed every expectation I had of it within ten minutes. I was expecting some kind of awful tragedy for easy tears, but no... I was captivated by it. I found the first episode to be particularly painful (I could relate to that kind of nervous waiting all too well) and I'll have to admit to tearing up a couple of times. It was almost too much in some places. The second episode... well, it's almost impossible not to be able to relate to that sort of situation. It wasn't quite as painful as the first, but still, it was incredibly touching and beautiful. The depiction of the scenery of Tanegashima was superb, and the skies were just completely stunning and added to the incredible atmosphere that this movie has. The whole e-mails thing was pretty depressing, too... I really can't think of anything to describe this movie well enough; you need to experience it if you haven't. I didn't like the third episode quite as much, mainly due to it being so short. It almost felt unresolved and it was hard to keep up with, but I figured out what was going on eventually. I liked the ending of this episode very much, though. I'm checking out other Makoto Shinkai works now, such as "The Place Promised in Our Early Days," "Hoshi no Koe," "She and Her Cat," and so on. I'm going to watch The Second Raid now, though I don't think I'll bother with Fummoffu (or however it's spelt :P). Kinda started watching Sayonara, Zetsubo-sensei since we watched it in Anime Club. Pretty funny, though I've only watched about 2 episodes so far. Also it's the finale of Umineko this week! To be honest I'm sort of looking for something like it as well. Texhnolyze you might like, it's a pretty smart anime and probably my second favorite next to Monster. It has interesting characters, the plot is great, and best of all, it doesn't drag on for 200 episodes. The whole series(with the 3 OVAS) is on youtube, just search it.
