August 21, 200817 yr you forgot neoclassic, groove and avant-garde metal :( :( :( Why even try with that idiot? Honestly, there is no point whatsoever. I'd get better replies if I argued with a tree stump.

August 21, 200817 yr Even though there are all of these subgenres missing from this topic or whatever, Does that mean that all of them will be voted for? I don't really see the point of adding a subgenre to the list if no one is going to vote for it.
August 21, 200817 yr whats with metal heads obsession with sub-genres never understood i can understand some but how much of a difference can there be between doommetal and deathmeatal or metalcore and deathcore :?: i will never understand but then again im not much of a metal fan Death Metal (this one does bend genres a bit at times, but still.) Power Metal | Drone (Sped up!) Industrial (with a hint of drone) Folk Metal Grunge (would you guys consider this kind of grunge a sub genre of metal?) Heavy Metal There is a small tidbit of some of the various genres. Pretty much said you should be able to tell the difference quite easily between these, and you'll see why sub genres are needed. im sorry man but honestly cant tell a huge difference between most. and the only one I even remotley enjoyed was folk metal but dont really see how thats metal anyhow but maybe its just not my style thanks for gettin all those links and stuff really nice http://www.last.fm/user/wagonwheel4
August 21, 200817 yr Metal threads always go to pot after about one page. People listen to what sounds good. Who really cares if it's metal or not. The definitions are messed up, anyways. For someone who is not a big metal fan like me, I am very confused. Every definition points you into the direction of another definition, which points you in the direction of another definition... (made up example:) Death metal: a more thrashy blood metal with swing to it. Blood metal: a straightforward sound that uses lyrics similair to grind core Grind Core: A heavy sound which is similar to goth metal thrashing You see what I mean? :wall: YOU! ATTEND TET EVENTS! August 21, 200817 yr I believe its GrindCore,by the way, though I personally don't consider anything with "core" metal.Although to be fair I haven't played many "-core" songs recently,so my opinion could change. I don't find Grunge metal, either. Its grunge rock,I believe.Though the only grunge I have is Nirvana,so I stand to be corrected. so i herd u liek devarts? If you look at me and feel offended by my 666-ism,think.I could be just as offended by your "cross".[hide=This's why I'm hot]The Eleventh Commandment:Thou Shalst only say "Amen, brother".Amen, brother :lol:Amen, brudda (referring to the 10th commandment)amen Bruder! If you dont understand the definition then go listen to any song by that artist/band, thats the best example of a band for that sub-genre. Get it? Did you read what I put? I know its Grindcore, but to show respect to the mighty Carcass Ive called it GrindGore, because they made the phrase 'GORE NOT CORE'. That only applies to GrindGore though, because the other 3 cores arent really metal. My Last.FmLeekSpinner!!!Random Furry Dance!!!Proud to hate life, since not too long ago!!!

August 22, 200817 yr I always thought it was goregrind/porngrind though. -Renate. Goregrind and Porngrind are legitimate sub-genres of metal as well, but they're more specific than, and both fall under the umbrella of Grindcore. And to Cyco, just something to note is that Hardcore isn't a sub-genre of metal. It's a sub-genre of punk. Cool.

August 22, 200817 yr Heavy metal... " the original" is my fave =D 99 Hunter - November 1st, 200899 Cooking -July 22nd, 200999 Firemaking - July 29th, 201099 Fletching - December 30th, 2010
August 23, 200817 yr I know, but people have been moaning for it so I put it on there. Im not too happy either but meh. No, I don't mean Metalcore. For Metalcore, it is debatable whether or not it's a sub-genre of metal (I was one of the people "moaning" for it to be added). Hardcore actually has no relation to Metal whatsoever, it's just a heavier, faster version of Punk. Whereas Metalcore is a fusion of Metal and Hardcore. And Bring Me the Horizon would be classified under either Metalcore or Deathcore. Cool.

October 5, 200817 yr I bet I could rewrite that list in a way that's much less confusing for people who aren't into metal. But I won't bother. Steam | Soup | Last.fm

I expect most people who aren't into metal don't bother reading this thread, except to maybe laugh at the loldebates. sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
October 5, 200817 yr yeah bmth is not hardcore it's deathcore/metalcore, listen to the guitar, and the vocals are like arch enemy except the deep growls. in saying this i dont include the newest album tho.
October 6, 200817 yr Despite the fact that I'm one of those metalheads obsessed with sub-genres, this thread makes me laugh. (Including my replies. ) Cool.
October 6, 200817 yr Prog, followed by Power, followed by most others, followed by death and grind. Kalphite, you and I share ridiculously similar music tastes. Anyways, I'm going to throw symphonic power metal in instead of power, because Nightwish own. Kthxbai. XD Being immature is a part of being mature.
October 6, 200817 yr Despite the fact that I'm one of those metalheads obsessed with sub-genres, this thread makes me laugh. (Including my replies. ) Despite the fact that I've spent 1k+ euro per year on metal music for last 5 years this thread reminds me of the meaning of a joke. Why does it really matter does the band play Nooneknowsthissubgenrecore instead of Iknowthissubgenrecoremetal if around 2 people know that subgenre and 50% of the people even agree with the defination? I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm
