Teachers Carrying Guns

Featured Replies

Its the same story as right to carry laws. They get themselves all worked up in to a frenzy and something that doesn't really matter turns into something where teachers will start going nuts and executing students for speaking without raising their hands. In a few weeks when nothing happens they will forget about it.

There's been no terrorist attack on America in the last few weeks. Guess we should just forget about 9/11 then, yeah? [/crazylogic]

When it's in the news and people are discussion putting guns in a classroom of course we're going to get pissed off. And when it all goes away because it's a STUPID idea, then we'll shut up. We don't forget about it. Just because a certain topic isn't at hand doesn't mean we're not thinking about it.

But there are no guns in the classroom, and according to my contacts the Region 24 Union has demanded all teachers to ignore the new policy, with no complaints so far. I talked to the union rep personally on the phone and she said that everyone she's talked to feels the same way. There is no way in hell they will take guns onto school grounds.

There is no doubt that some people are over hyping this situation just to toot their own horns. Especially the original poster.

That's a lovely unsubstantiated claim you have there.

there is a slight difference between allegations that something will go wrong and the actual threat of terrorism

Orthodoxy is unconciousness

the only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed.

My point remains though. Just because something hasn't happened recently doesn't mean the danger isn't still present.

His argument was based on total ignorance to the potential dangers of carrying firearms into places children can get them.

Yay, let's ignore facts and focus on our own biases and deliberations!

Did you even read the thread? Guns aren't going to be passed out at the front door of the school, teachers would have the option to train and get a licensed gun to carry for protection.

My hyperbole wasn't quite as evident as I had anticipated. I'm well aware that not every single teacher in the US will be forced to carry a firearm.

I wonder if that would've been prevented if an teacher or principal there had a gun.

I personally am sitting on the fence right now, I can see the benefits of teachers having concealed guns, but I can also see the consequences. I don't know which one outweighs the other.

I personally wonder if it would have happened if the student had a gun.

Just a wild guess but... No?
