fishinarrows
Sunday September 21st is Peace Day. The United Nations' International Day of Peace - marked every year on September 21 - is a global holiday when individuals, communities, nations and governments highlight efforts to end conflict and promote peace. Established by U.N. resolution in 1982, "Peace Day" has grown to include millions of people around the world who participate in all kinds of events, large and small. Just for one day, do something that will make other peoples lives better. It isn't that hard. One thing, be nicer, help a strangers, anything. If you help someone, they might help soneone and eventually the world will become a better place. Please be the difference. wVdj33y9xvo http://www.metowe.org http://leaderstoday.com/ Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz. Zierro
I hate days like this. They give people a reason to be nice for one day, and then go back to being [wagon]. My thoughts exactly. Sure, it is in good taste but I'd rather just live everyday like that instead.

Anyways, sounds like an alright day to me, too bad its on a Sunday and I won't see many people, guess I'll just have to carry it on over to Monday then. :D 99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving. Lenticular_J
It would make me happier if you just said it's stupid and people should just be nice every day of the year. And Christmas could be spread throughout the year, too. Feel free to give me presents every day. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
Powman3
There shouldn't just be one day where everyone decides to make up for everything that's been happening this past decade. No, you should try to make peace every day, not just one damn day.

When Lenticular said he hates days like this, that doesn't seem to be boosting the spirit much to me... but w/e, I already said you guys are right and I'm wrong, so why push the subject? Zierro
The point of the thread is to convince people to be more nice on one day of the year. We're saying to change "one day" into "the whole year" as it will have an even greater effect. And why are you telling us we're pushing the subject? Don't post anything that you don't want people to reply to. That's how the internet works.
meol
Of course it'd be nice if every day was peaceful, the bad thing is they aren't. These guys are at least promoting one day of peace, because it's about making conscience of conflict - and that'd already be a big change. If you feel capable of keeping such a joyous spirit the whole year, that'd be even better, so please be my guest and do that. However, you can't ask for the UNO to conduct these public events worldwide the whole year around. It's not about only being charitable at Christmas, it's about being charitable at all, even if you're only joining the Holidays bandwagon. That post by Shadow also reminded me of an old song. [hide=]If you want to arrange it This world you can change it If we could somehow make this Christmas thing last By helping a neighbor Or even a stranger To know who needs help You need only just ask[/hide] This signature is intentionally left blank. Sumpta
Aye, Meol is hitting the nail by its head. Days like this initiative are meant to give visibility to a certain problem and to promote the many ways of fighting against it. It's a good way of informing people, celebrating good practices and getting the press to give some attention to the issue. I have trouble with this "I'm already being nice every day, so I'm better anyway and couldn't learn a thing from this"-attitude. We do the same with all festivities, do we not? Or do you guys want to skip your 18th birthdays too, since you're going to be 18 for a whole year after all?
warren211
The more we promote days like these, the more the wannabe criminals of the world will purposely act like [wagons] because they think they're awesome for ruining the holiday spirit. :wall: [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. We're saying to change "one day" into "the whole year" as it will have an even greater effect. There would be no change if every year was a "Peace Year." Imagine if every hour was "Earth Hour." It's an idealistic thought.

EdgedThesis
You dole out one day of peace. People begin to realize how much they like it. They crave it. It persists. 1_man_army
You dole out one day of peace. People begin to realize how much they like it. They crave it. It persists. The more likely scenario is that people pay little attention to 'peace day' and everyone continues to do what they normally do. He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)
EdgedThesis
Then I suspect that this day will be subject to a self-fulfilling prophecy. Maybe the day will end up worse than normal, just because a bunch of pessimists think it isn't worth the effort. But I don't want to go among mad people!Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here..."
