RuneScape Cash shop

No.

This isn't the RSOF. I'm sure your ideas will be much more appreciated there.

Agreed.

goddamnit, give some reason why it is bad. an 1 word responses are not allowed on these forums, those will be more appreciated on the RSOF.

anyway, I think new familiars would be great, but act more as pets, so no time limit etc. I don't agree with the idea of selling holiday items (like [Caution: Jagex Rule Violation] etc) because the thing is getting them on that day, not just have an account on that YEAR.

Implemented right--putting game content first and only caring about the cash shop once a month/once every two months--the shop could be a valuable flow of income for Jagex. I think they're already experimenting with this when they released the full version of their "Jagex Shop." If it helps Jagex get more income to warrant hiring more people for customer support and content development, sure. Why not.

The problem is that given most online games that have "cash shops", far too much content goes into THEM and not the actual game (case in point: Maplestory, Gaia, Gunbound, Conquer Online, etc) I believe that because of these trends that seem to overcome games that implement these shops with the best intentions (at first) causes so many people to object to your thread.

Personally, I'm one of those people. I object it strongly, as I've already said. Should they wish to pursue other avenues of income, they should stick to the "Jagex Shop."

It's only speculation as to where the profits would go from these cash shops. Given that, I don't feel like there's any sort of discussion here that wouldn't cause more arguing or more arrogant posts. Some people have given interesting ideas as to what COULD go in there, though.

Meh. \'

Items that actually give you an advantage in game (2x experience, new familiars, special armor) should not be implemented in the Cash Shop. Members who already pay $6 per month should get full advantages, as said in the members introduction. Of course, I'm all for name changes and cosmetic, no stat armor. I would actually pay $10 to project a unclosable window of a Rick-Roll on ALL THE SERVERS for 3 minutes. That would be the best rick roll of my life <3:

Well I don't think buying missed holiday items would be a bad idea, but then players will come up with all kinds of conspiracies that Jagex just wants extra money. Mods stated way back during the RWT war that they would not tolerate people buying their way to the top with real world cash. They said they did not want real life wealth to influence success in the game.

First off, for the item to be worth anything in real life it has to be something really fancy. A new colored cav won't cut it, it has to be something so show-offy that anyone with spare cash (or daddy's credit card) will want it. That creates the problem that players who want such an awesome item need to pay extra for it, and it will simply lead to rants, people becoming careless with their money, and negative views at jagex.

I don't see what's wrong with a game that's different from a lot of the other ones. For many games you can buy expansion packs and whatnot as extras to become more powerful or more of a showoff. Runescape is one of the few games where real life wealth (and daddy's credit card) has little effect.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

I dont want people running around with my holiday items that show how long ive been playing, but then again I kind've wish it was real so that i could buy buny ears and a scythe =P~ cuz they are ftw 2 d4 m4x :twss:

But i also respect that the people who have scythes and bunny ears and yoyos etc would feel pretty ripped if they suddenly got their unique items given to everyone else.

BUT the purpose of these display items w/no stats is to demonstrate your acheivements and how long you've played.

Phats are a symbol of wealth.

Likewise,

Holiday items show how long you've played the game.

Random Event awards and the like show how much you've experienced, and likewise, how long you've played the game.

Topic idea=Fail, IMO.

If you jump into a river in Paris, you're insane. If you jump into a river in Egypt, you're in denial.

Ermm, no.

"I have more £/$ than you, so I can get better items than you!"

RuneScape is a game, and someone's wealth in the real world should not effect their items in the game world (excluding membership).

I think you might see something like this in MechScape ;)

Either that or it won't be against the rules to buy/sell it, they will just say... do it at your own risk.

I'm fairly confident about that I'd even place a bet on it :)

I'm fairly confident as well, what would you like to bet? :)
