450-lb pumpkin gets stolen.

Featured Replies

Just a small story but I found it funny.

GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Michigan -- Somebody call Linus -- the Great Pumpkin has been kidnapped.

Bill Teer spent five months growing a massive pumpkin in his garden only to have it stolen from his front yard Thursday.

Teer figures it must have taken three people to haul the 450-lbs. Atlantic Giant from alongside his driveway on Halsey Road near Baldwin Road.

The pumpkin had only been on display a day before Teer's wife discovered the theft as she left for work about 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

Teer believes his great pumpkin is worth $1 a pound and is offering $200 for its return. He figures someone out there has to have seen it.

"You can't miss the thing," said Teer.

Ohhhhhh pumpkin pie. <3:<3: It's that time of the year again.

I wonder how they managed to sneak off with it.. :-k

You can do anything if you set your mind to it. Think of all that pie...

Who in there right mind would want to steal this in the first place?! It would be incredibly heavy as well...

Mmmm....pie =P~

[cabbage], now people are gonna be guarding all their pumpkins. I was planning on turning a local supermarket's pumpkin patch into a scene of some sort - probably war.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

I wonder if it's big enough to live inside if you carve out the middle

There are very few explanations as to why someone would steal a giant-[wagon] pumpkin:

1) Idiot teens looking for laughs, then realized they didn't think of how to transport or hide the pumpkin, and promptly get caught.

2) Idiot teens looking for something to destroy that's massive. Took pumpkin, brought home, destroyed it, got rid of pieces. Never caught.

3)Professional criminals who efficiently stole, transported, and hid the pumpkin without leaving any evidence. Perhaps wanted to resell it, or just prove to friends they could steal such a massive thing. Not caught for months.

4) Massive group of unemployed bakers who plan on making pie or bread out of said pumpkin. Never caught, all the evidence was promptly eaten by unsuspecting customers.

To steal such a big pumpkin... you're either really stupid or really smart. There's very little in between. Be cool if someone found it though...

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(

Are you saying it's random because of it's size? Pumpkins are often stolen in my area and promptly smashed within a block or less of the victims house.

I think they did something like that on "Hey, Arnold!". They turned it into a card house or something.

Around here, pumpkins are only stolen at halloween, and then promptly smashed. But then again, we don't exactly have 450 lb pumpkins growing in our backyards.

Yep, Stinky grew a giant pumpkin in one week and carved it out to play cards in at the end of the episode.

"Okay boys, the name of the game is Gin Rummy." "But I want to play something else!" "Nope, my pumpkin, my rules."

Yea thats happened to me a few times before. (pumpkin got stolen, but never smashed nearby :-k )

Plus, you'd probably need a sledgehammer or 2 just to break it open

I wonder what's the largest pumpkin pie ever made from a single pumpkin?

OT: That's awesome. How the hell did they carry away and hide a 450 lb pumpkin without being seen?

If teens were behind this, they obviously want to show off their loot. So we can expect a youtube video soon where the teens smash the pumpkin with loads of sledgehammers. I for on am going to patrol youtube videos

This really does sound like something completely and utterly ridiculous.

Did me and my friends do this the other night or something? I do commit crimes on occasion when I sleepwalk.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

If I was gonna move I woulda it put it in front of their driveway so they can't get out, or in the middle of the road
