Example: People need to get up and get their day started. They don't want to start their day by talking on the phone (at least I don't). Had quite a few occassions in which my friends were in distress or trouble even while I was sleeping at 3am, I don't even remotely consider the option of just 'not answering' and making up an excuse later. Really, unless you have a really good reason, you should answer phone calls made by your family or closest friends, or if you're very busy, at least call back a few minutes later. The person probably isn't your friend if he/she disrupts your activities just to piss you off by calling you about trivial things. I mean really, what could be so bad that anyone can't wait until atleast 8 A.M. You're right.. Most things can usually wait. Though, if your friend just called 911, is in serious sudden pain or about to be hospitalised, which is a scenario I encountered last year, forget sleep, it can wait even if you have work or school the next day. Abandoning your friend when he/she needs help leaves forever repercussions, cutting on your sleep is something you can fix in 2 days. Supporting a good friend (or family) gets priority over pretty much anything. I think most people's views eventually move towards this direction once they mature up and start caring about other people than themselves.
