That means call them at a reasonable hour..

If I was one of your friends, I'd prefer it if you call me during the day from 10am-11pm. If you call me afterwards, I'd just scream into the phone.

Unless you have some extremely urgent important reason to call at 4:00 AM, no need to put a bomb in a friendship.

 

 

 

"It doesn't matter" means anytime he is available, or in the case you put it, conscious.

Just use common sense. There are things that almost everyone does during the day.

 

 

 

Example: People need to get up and get their day started. They don't want to start their day by talking on the phone (at least I don't). People eat dinner, people sleep etc.

This is beside the point, but the way you type is "hard 4 me to understand"...

 

 

 

On Topic: Use your judgment. Don't go calling them at ridiculous times, because they probably won't answer you again.

 

If I was your friend however, saying it to you, I would probably mean; "Call me at a good time, like before 10PM".

Had quite a few occassions in which my friends were in distress or trouble even while I was sleeping at 3am, I don't even remotely consider the option of just 'not answering' and making up an excuse later.

 

 

 

Really, unless you have a really good reason, you should answer phone calls made by your family or closest friends, or if you're very busy, at least call back a few minutes later. Whatever you're doing can usually wait.

Try calling them at about 3am in the morning and if they get cranky, then yeah, I think you should call at a "reasonable" hour.

A real friend can be called at any time, day or night.

 

 

 

Had quite a few occassions in which my friends were in distress or trouble even while I was sleeping at 3am, I don't even remotely consider the option of just 'not answering' and making up an excuse later.

You're right.. Most things can usually wait. Though, if your friend just called 911, is in serious sudden pain or about to be hospitalised, which is a scenario I encountered last year, forget sleep, it can wait even if you have work or school the next day. Abandoning your friend when he/she needs help leaves forever repercussions, cutting on your sleep is something you can fix in 2 days.

 

 

 

Supporting a good friend (or family) gets priority over pretty much anything. I think most people's views eventually move towards this direction once they mature up and start caring about other people than themselves.

I always answer the phone no matter what, and if its not a reasonable time, and not important, i tell em to, we know. But one day last week my friend called me crying at 2am on a school night because she was puking up blood. I store my moms are to get her to a hospital(Her parents were gone for 2 days) It ended up being nothing, but my parents were so happy i forgot to tell them im going "out" at 2am :mrgreen:
