I'm pretty nihilistic when it comes to life...But no,not that bad.I do have things I want to achieve before I drop off the face of existence.

Well, in the cosmic sense life is pretty pointless, but I rarely dwell on that because there's no point to.

When it comes to every day things and life seemingly going downhill, I can't say I'm one to just want to pack it in because it feels pointless. Sometimes I do feel down, but a good night's sleep and some escapism quickly cures that.

I've had my fair share of crap to wade through in life, but I'm still here because I've not done what I want to yet.

"When life gets you down you know what you gotta do?" asked Dory.

"No," replied Marlin coldly.

Dory sang, "Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim, swim. Oh ha ha [garden tool] oh [garden tool]! Keep swimming, swimming. (does an opera shout) To swim..."

Yeah, learn from our friend Dory here and just remember, life goes on.

Yeah, learn from our friend Dory here and just remember, life goes on.

I woke the other day

And saw my world has changed

The past is over but tomorrow's wishful thinking

I can't hold on what's been done (woah-oh)

I can't grab on what's to come (woah-oh)

And I'm just wishing I could stop, but

Life goes on

Come of age

Can't hold on

Turn the page

Time rolls on

Wipe these eyes

Yesterday laughs

Tomorrow cries

Memories are bittersweet

The good times we can't repeat

Those days are gone and we can never get them back

Now we must move ahead (woah-oh)

Despite our fear and dread (woah-oh)

We're all just wishing we could stop, but

Life goes on

Come of age

Can't hold on

Turn the page

Time rolls on

Wipe your eyes

Yesterday laughs

Tomorrow cries

With all our joys and fears

Wrapped in forgotten years

The past is laughing as today just slips away

Time tears down what we've made (woah-oh)

And sets another stage (woah-oh)

And I'm just wishing we could stop

This (well, survival, mostly), career aspirations (molecular biologist) and also just experiencing all that life has to offer. If there's nothing else to it then I'd rather get the most out of it while it lasts.

I used to think like that. I'm still pretty cynical, but that's just depressing. I just said, [bleep] it, and now I'm hardly ever sad. At least, to any extent.

Pretty much exactly my sentiments. At like age 14-17 my world view started becoming too cynical and destructive, I similarly just woke up one day & thought, screw it. I'm stuck here for another few decades, me becoming some nihilistic world-hating criminal detached from society isn't going to make anything better or fix anything.

Realizing that hating stupidity, humanity, thinking you're somehow superior, is just bull*, will ease your life at least to some degree. Make the best of what you're given and stop complaining.

Sadly, the more you understand about the world & view it objectively, the more you come to another dead end: Money is the ultimate God which makes things happen on our planet, without it, you're never going to live a truly free life. Just work a way around it and try earning some.

Life is a [bleep], I feel the same way quite often. The words "live for the weekend" are my motto as usually I'm only happy out on the weekend with friends or whatever. My opinion is right now I don't have much to live for, I've no major achievements, to lazy to get good grades or be good at sports and don't have the drive to do well in life. But rather than thinking "life is [cabbage], no point in living" I'll just troop on and enjoy the fun moments of life knowing what my life is set for.

Welcome to what is usually the 14-17 age period. We're cynical, depressing and pessimistic.

I'm 17 and I've been getting 4.0+ GPA for as long as I remember. School is laughable for me. I don't have a huge drive to do well later on, but I know I will.

My mom has actually been suffering with depression lately which I cannot even begin to understand. I don't understand "depressed" emotion. I find life so pointless that I laugh everything off. It's all a big joke and if you're depressed about it you're obviously not in on the joke.

Hmm... you gotta remember it's not that your mom(I'm spending too much time talking to Americans) mum isn't "getting the joke" of life. She is, she just physically cannot be happy about it.

Clinical depression is more than what people would normally call "being depressed".

All the time really, I think life is one pointless cycle.

I treat it like a giant experiment, I create social experiments because I know it doesn't matter who's feelings I [bleep] with.

It used to be fun, but now I'm irritating myself, I'm get excessively close to people, then decide that their lives are more boring than mine.

The other day, I was wondering if it was normal to think about suicide so much.

Well, I don't want to kill myself necessarily, because of the people I would most likely affect.

What confuses me is how I treat this topic, because in my head, death isn't a scary thing anymore, I'd be ready for it if it came.

I've found I'm very insensitive with other people's feelings, and always wonder if there's something wrong with me.

I think this is normal?

edit: I regret posting this -_-

But nothing wrong is going on in my life really, so idk why I do the above text.

Wait, are you sane?

Do you know what I love to do?

I like writing notes, and leaving them inside books/money, just because i know someone out there I don't know is bound to read it. And if I write a nice message, I think someone out there who's having a hard time will read it and smile.

Oh, I do that in Animal Crossing. You can send "Notes in a bottle" out and then when you connect to Wi-Fi someone else gets it. I always write nice ones but for some reason I always get abusive ones back. :(

Animal Crossing? I googled it and got a game.

I don't think that's as fun as leaving notes out in public, because the person to pick it up in public probably isn't a hXc abusic gamer or whatever. Don't think people would take the bottle-note seriously thing -_-

If you like leaving notes out for people in public to see, you should read "The Guerilla Art Kit" by Keri Smith. :]]

I like writing notes that make other people feel like crap.

Of course, this is with the assumption that the anonymous person on the other end will realize that random notes from random people do not affect him at all. This, in theory, strengthens his resolve, and his sense of self-purpose.

So far, all tests have gone against my hypotheses. Maybe I'll try your method and go easy on humanity.

Entire post was a social experiment. Subject: Moral relativism and person-strengthening methodology. Awaiting results...

But I don't want to go among mad people!

Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here..."

I think I am, but I can never be sure.

I have always thoroughly enjoyed making up stories of people I pass. And since I pass a lot of the same people on a regular basis, I've taken to trying to make a character out of how they act and their general body language. Hmm, that sounds a little creepy... Anywho, I also play a game with friends where we see who can make the most eye contact with random strangers during a meal. Always good fun.
