Including one of my teachers, who's a girl, with four - two in relatively dirty places, aaaaand she has her belly button and nose pierced. I can't confirm it either since my tattoo is black/grey but I don't think color would hurt more. It would be just like shading (higher needle count than for linework) but with a different colored ink and I personally thought the shading was the easiest part of my tattoo as far as pain goes (though I felt very little overall). I have a colored tattoo and I can tell you from experience thee pain is not much worse if anymore noticeable at all. It really just depends on where the coloring is going, and if that part would irritate more. Yeah the line work is the most painful part. Once you get to shading it's a breeze. Also, the part right underneath the lion looks a bit like wallpaper peeling off.. Not sure what to do there. If that's what you want, cool, but I think it looks a little weird. Remember this, any respectable (tattoo) artist will make the piece look 100% before they begin the tattoo. What the OP has posted is a drawing by a friend. The tattoo artist will make sure it looks perfect and he/she will know what colors will work best with OP's skin tone and will probably make the "peeling" areas look like the skin is ripping away.
