November 23, 200817 yr summoning potion (4)s and sharks are both about 1k each, it takes 88 summon for unicorn and im not sure on the exact number of points but a dose of summoning potion gives a certain amount of special bar back, for killing monsters where unicorn isnt quite enough yet quick healing isnt require , for example, waterfiends, you can get much much more healing out of a 4 dose summon pot than a shark and for the same price P.s. somebody give me the exact numbers on summon bar restore p.s.s. im not changing my rsn to 1 summon pot left
November 23, 200817 yr What about summon scroll prices, pouch prices, and prices getting to 88 summ? Want to be my friend? Look under my name to the left<<< and click the 'Add as friend' button!Big thanks to Stevepole for the signature!^

I do, and I know how useless the unircorn is in most situations. Yes, it can be helpful for bosses and such, but when it comes to most situations, the bunyip is still much better. Also, the scrolls cost about 270 gp each and the pouch itself costs about 2,700 gp...so it's not like it's just 1k per dose of potion. Don't try to make something into something it's not. |2,300+ Total|138 Combat|12 Lvl 99 Skills|99 Slayer|
November 23, 200817 yr I figured everybody at or on their way to 88 summon has realized this by now... either way it's not the price, it's the fact that scrolls are stackable
November 23, 200817 yr Unicorns aren't the be all end all that people believe them to be, in a lot of cases a bunyip is better suited to the situation.
November 23, 200817 yr What about summon scroll prices, pouch prices, and prices getting to 88 summ? Exactly. Before making the claim that the pots are better, you NEED to account into the fact of how much it takes to create/buy a pouch, how much the potion is per number of scrolls you can use in said time period, and the cost to get to the point to 88 summoning to use the unicorn, and at what point you stand to profit from unicorns rather than sharks (i.e.; how many summoning pots + scrolls + pouches do you need to use to offset the costs of getting 88 summoning and eventually start spending less than you would on sharks).
November 23, 200817 yr I believe each dose of pot heals 10 points on your summon bar. That's half of one special. Therefore, you get two specials per 4 dose potion, or 30 HP. Factor in the cost of the scrolls and you have ~1.6k for 30 hp, which is also healed MUCH slower than eating two sharks.
November 23, 200817 yr Ive seen a lvl 138 maging at dks who just brought summon pots (and antis). So yes, it works in some situations. @outsanity: Yes, for most normal uses (slayer etc) bunyip is more than enough. But then again, guthan was enough too. But for things like DK's (no Yak available yet), GWD, void at aviansies, void at abbie demons, unicorn totally rocks. A Guide to Chinning in Ape atoll: up to 325kxp/h!

Have fun picking up all that raw food and painstakingly casting the slow swallow whole scroll on each and every one, compared to the delayless drinking of potions and casting of healing aura. Waterfiends are 100% non-prayable with a unicorn. Back before I had one I used a bunyip and I definitely could not no-pray them, but it could be because my stats weren't very good lol. I agree that the unicorn isn't the godly creature many people assume it is, but I also disagree with the people who are saying it sucks. It provides a guarantee that you will NEVER run out of hitpoints almost anywhere in the game, which the bunyip does not have. It also lasts 10 minutes longer (which I often find myself needing to take advantage of), and to anyone who's spent the investment to get 88+ summoning the marginally higher cost of pouches and scrolls is negligible.
November 23, 200817 yr Have fun picking up all that raw food and painstakingly casting the slow swallow whole scroll on each and every one Youre picking up all of the crimson charm drops so its not like youre going out of your way to pick up the food and its not like youre eating nonstop there anyways, just when your health occasionally gets low. Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.
November 23, 200817 yr assuming you don't wait for the dying animations, you will have to run back to pick up each individual item... picking up a raw shark and a crimson takes twice as long as just picking up a crimson (although admittedly it definitely doesn't take very long) the spell itself is quite slow though, and you can't do anything else while casting it
November 23, 200817 yr For a crucial moment, I think quick-touch food eat is more handy than any other healing.
November 23, 200817 yr Unicorn's slow, unreliable and expensive. Bunyip + food is less expensive but at least it heals when you click, and a bit extra too. Unicorn's scrolls are apparently 270gp, monkfish are probably around that price and they heal more than the scrolls, and you don't need to wait for them to recharge either.
November 23, 200817 yr Bunyip has its uses, but a unicorn is FAR better. This is a slow method though, but 40 HP per slot aint bad. And because it's a potion you never have an eating delay, but it takes a while for the healing. Not as 'instant' as sharks. November 24, 200817 yr Unicorn's slow, unreliable and expensive. Bunyip + food is less expensive but at least it heals when you click, and a bit extra too. Unicorn's scrolls are apparently 270gp, monkfish are probably around that price and they heal more than the scrolls, and you don't need to wait for them to recharge either. I don't know what you mean by expensive, crafting nature runes at level 44 runecrafting gives money for about 1k scrolls in 1 hour... an hour of continuously casting healing aura will use 90 of those scrolls (plus 1 pouch, worth 10 scrolls). I do not consider it expensive at all, especially since there are plenty better ways of making money than 44 runecrafting natures. I don't know what you mean by slow either, since the unicorn heals 21 hitpoints/minute compared to the bunyip's 8 - that seems much faster to me. If you mean the lack of instant-gratification healing, I don't think the 1 second delay between the clicking of the special move button and the activation of the scroll would ever be significant unless you are taking damage ridiculously quickly (in which case even eating wouldn't help you) or if you are foolish enough to let your hitpoints get incredibly low. The unicorn has the advantage that you can do other things while being healed. If you mean that it takes time to get everything set up (drink a dose of summoning potion if you are low in special move points) then I will remind you that no one in the right mind uses a unicorn for healing while pking. The purpose is to be able to stay in 1 place for a very long time, which is certainly much more possible with a unicorn than with a bunyip and monkfish. This method provides fast enough healing at the god wars dungeon, so I can't imagine that anyone would ever encounter problems with the speed. As for unreliable... I have no idea what you mean. :P The only uncertain aspect of the healing is that you never know exactly when the bar is going to go up, but that should only be a problem if you are regularly emptying your special move bar, in which case you should be taking summoning potions which eliminate it as a problem.
November 24, 200817 yr Summoning potions are useless. They were made obselete when failure version #1 of summoning turned into failure version #2. Unicorns have very limited uses. It can only heal you 13 or 14 and the bar runs out after like 3 or 4 clicks and you can't take it to the fight caves. Food and guthans is preferable to it. Exclusive Legacy Mode Player He just successfully trolled you with "courtesy" and managed to get a reaction out of you. Lol
November 24, 200817 yr 89 summon for few months i rarely use unicorns.. for slayer i use bunyip cost effective AND you dont have to manual heal with it, unicorn is good for big monsters only
November 24, 200817 yr I got 88 summon... the only place I've used unicorn so far is at God Wars... and I would have used it at DK's but everyone who was going ended up having something else to do :S Summoning points are only required to resummon familiars or use a familiars right click option (right-click fireball on Forge Regent takes summon points, so I would assume the same for the poison cure on a unicorn). To be honest though, I usually have been using guthans and combat familiars for almost everything slayer, though. I'm planning on switching that off to SGS and combat familiars when I can, though. Combat familiars are something I find more useful for almost every assignment in multi-combat, and those that aren't in multicombat, a bunyip usually is more than enough. The only place I'll really use unicorn is at Wyverns, Waterfiends, or KBD soloing (well... not really soloing -- helping my friend get charms on his summon tank XD)... or at DK's, GW's, and those bosses.... But yeah, you don't use it anywhere. But for the common person that does God Wars -- it owns. Started free trade with 1.5m cash. 2 weeks later, have hit max cash 2x. PvP drops: 359 Brawling Gloves, 11 Vesta's Longswords, 41+ Zaros/Ancient Statues9 Dragon Full Helms, 3 Dragonfire Shields on the old PvP loot system Brawler guide is being finished!
