just a thought

i'm sitting here doing slayer and noticing how almost everyone just leaves the bones and stuff lying on the ground. now i don't always pick up and bury bones but that got me to thinking, what if u bured every bone u saw, or just everyone u got as a drop and how much higher your prayer would be if any.

sorry if already posted lol

It adds up to a big waste of time when you are around my level. I find it better to use the extra 2 seconds on attacking the next monster.

Just so I can say "owned" to you: I'm level 99 prayer and still bury bones often.

This. The 4.5 xp you get when burying a bone is negligible when you have 800,000 prayer exp to a level

If you want to play this game, I can just say, "Ha, my total is higher than yours since I saved more time by not burying!"

Plus, mathematically speaking, it is more efficient to just make money and buy your bones.

Lets see at 300 tasks saying 200 were regular bones droppers and 50 were ashes and the other 50 were fire giants. Averaging around 150 per task plus 100 from other people. Thats 225K from regular bones and 125K xp from Big bones. That realy isn't worth the time imo. I think from the time spent I could get a few more tasks in which could be a whip drop or something which would pay for D bones.

I used to bury my big bones, but when Jagex released Leo the Gravedigger I stopped doing that because getting that isn't worth the 200xp you receive from burying them all.

Yeh just a thought.. I could -spend a few seconds- killing a monster to bury a bone for 15xp  Or I could -spend a few seconds- killing a dragon for 72xp..To bank. Using on a alter for *gasp* 252 xp. (3.5x xp more)

That 15xp > that 252. (16.8!) -Not- Especially if that guy who uses dragon bones buys them instead of killing for them. Which of course I suppose most people who bury bones must think is inefficient or something due to fun gameplay. Maybe they are just crazy.

I am at 86 prayer so that means I need..

Bury 24695 big bones

or

1470 dragon bones on the alter

Considering it takes pretty much the same time to get dragon bones compared to big bones I doubt its very efficient to bury anything less or without using them on an alter. Using an alter gives 3.5 more xp than just burying a dragon bone. Which is the same as killing 3.5 more dragons. Saving alot of time there when you are killing thousands for bones.

About the only bones I bother to bury are dragon bones if I aint banking them for whatever reason.

I main reason I conclude its a waste of time for me is because the amount of time it takes + boredom to bury a bone whiling killing things. Compared to using them on an alter = More prayer xp asif you had killed for more bones.

Sorry if any calculations wrong I was writing this very quickly..

I bury the bones of what I kill, sure it takes time but little exp can add up. I haven't touched a plank since 55 con, it's 62 now. I've been using all my genie lamps and tomes of knowledge on it.

I say it's worth the 2 seconds to get that 4.5xp if you have a low Prayer level (<43). With time it adds up and you'll find you have a decent Prayer level for your combat level without even going out of your way to buy/power-train some Prayer levels.

After that just leave the normal bones on the ground, but it will always be worth those 2 seconds for anything Big Bones and up (15xp +). It might not seem like much even then, but with time it adds up to a lot, and it's not like you will always be making more money than the bones cost during that very short time it takes to click to bury them. (talking about higher xp bones)

I think aynone who says they dont do it as its a "waste of time" is plain stupid.

Sure its only 4.5xp and i may take thousands to get anywhere near gd xp.

But if you consider while doing say slayer about 50% of monsters drop bones that are not worthy looting eg big bones and down.

If you say a average slayer task is around 20 monsters and that you do 10 tasks a day

thats 200 monsters dead, 100 of which dropped crud bones. Even if they were all normal bones thats 450xp.

Overtime it all adds up ya know. 4.5xp is not alot sure, but along the way burying all bones you get can knock a sizable chunk off pray xp you need for 99

So far I've not spent anything (well, maybe a bit, but not more than 100k) on prayer and I've sold a lot of dragon bones too. However burying normal bones is such a waste, takes atleast 1 second to pick them up then atleast another second to bury them, you're losing 2 seconds per monster, over 30 monsters that's a minute, so that's 5 minutes extra per slayer task at least. Just not worth doing. Big bones? Maybe, just. Anything about it's probably worth burying, hell I sometimes even leave dragon bones on the floor if I'm too lazy to pick them up.

Well it's about 13m exp to a 99 melee stat. For the sake of it, let's say you fight 100 hp monsters the entire way as an average.

13m/100=130,000 monsters. Now if each bone takes 2 seconds to bury, that's

130,000 x 2=65,000 seconds. There are 60 seconds in a minute so

65,000/60=1083.3 minutes. There are 60 minutes in an hour so

1083.3/60=18.05 hours wasted by picking up every bone on the way to a 99 melee stat.

But the exp is

130,000 x 4.5=585k expierience. Now divide that by the 18.05 hours it took for that exp and that's

32,409 exp per hour.

Now i'm sure we all know that prayer rates using a gilded altar and dragon bones is a hell of a lot more exp than that.

You dived by 2 and not multiplied. that 8.1k xp an hour instead, not your 32k. Although I still find 8.1k hard to believe.
