Not really. Don't forget, there were literally thousands of bots running about before that, and they all quit once the trade limit kicked in. The number of true players probably never really breached 200k that often...

You're also wrong about why you thought that Jagex removed Free Trade and Wilderness Pking. It was all to prevent Real World Traders, or RWT. RWT were horrific things that used bots to suck up resources and sell gold. Bots had a negative impact on the game, no argument about that, though this applies in particular to F2P worlds. Bots potentially ruined the Runescape experience for new members, sucking up yews, and spamming chats, scamming, and so on. Perhaps Jagex did do the update to 'shield' some of the more immature players, but that's only half of it. It's not just protecting some whiny players, it's protecting some whiny players that pay Jagex.Jagex, you see, is a business. RWT's were a threat to that income, and thus, Jagex removed them.

 

 

 

I know this is a wee bit late, but I totally agree. ANY profit-based business (such as JaGeX) has one primary objective, and that is to make a profit. Of course, they increase our enjoyment of the game by adding updates - minigames, quests, etc. but this is to increase sales. RWT had a huge impact on their profits, because bots would collect RuneScape's vital resources that players would harvest. When people realised that on any world you went to, and at any time, there would be a bot somewhere in the RuneScape world taking what you rightfully deserve. In knowing this, people decided to quit the game. Thus, decreasing JaGeX's profits.

 

 

 

That is why I agree with the fact that PKing what rightfully taken away, to abolish RWT and make the game better.

3 words: GET OVER IT! More than 3 words: Jagex made a decision that they felt would be better overall for Runescape. Who are we to make decisions about the wellbeing of the game? And for the last year they have delivered on their promise to make up for the loss of the wilderness and free trading. Runescape goes on, and it will not be stopped by a few whiners who are stuck in 2007.

So being able to stake a phat and get another isn't as good as pking full rune?

 

 

 

Being able to pk all around the world isn't as good as only being able to do it in the wilderness?

 

 

 

And bounty hunter is ok, not necessarily as good as the old wilderness, but it does have some advantages.

 

 

 

Don't get me wrong, I hated these updates. Taking out unbalanced trades was understandable, however taking out the wilderness was ridiculous. But, the wilderness issue has been rectified via pvp worlds, and if you don't like random drops, just go hit your friend with some flowers and get some drop potential. Makes even more money than the old pking :wall:

My drops from 10 minutes in PVP worlds. They aren't random, it's all about how long you've been out.

 

 

 

Staking affected perhaps .01% of the population. The new dual tournaments are FAR better.

 

 

 

BH is fine, I enjoy it. How different is it from regular PKing? It's quite a nice replacement, and saved RS from ACTUALLY dying of RWT.

Though I do agree with you about bounty hunter, this is the reason why people think bounty hunter phails:

 

WE CAN'T KILL OUR TARGET BECAUSE HE HAS DEFENSE!!! Or is "too strong" or is lvl 100 against a lvl 70 pure who could have a fair fight with him but uses the combat difference as an excuse so he can slaughter "normal" lvl 70s in "fair" fights in which he is demanding.

 

 

 

It's the same thing with staking since you have to be the bets of the best to win. I would say that staking affected more like 1%, but that's just a guess based on how many people were in the riots.

Yeah I have been here lurking here for a while, and I have noticed you in particular have a habit of making unsourced statements or citing "Studies" that have never ben confirmed by a third party(especially in your "Slayer Sucks" Topic).

 

 

 

I have heard the rumor that there was some kind of lawsuit in the works against Jagex if they didnt get RWT under control, but that is what that is. A Rumor. Not a fact. It has never been confirmed anywhere.

 

 

 

There are other ways that RWT could have been stopped. Jag decided though that they could kill two birds with one stone-stop losers like you from jamming their message centers with "OMG I gawt PK3d its s0 m34n im g0nn4 kill u" and halt RWT.

 

 

 

I still play RS, and maybe saying it "died" is a little too dramatic. But a major part of Runescape was shut down that day, nobody can deny that.

I subsequently quit not solely because of that update, but it was the prime factor. In retrospect I realise it was a good decision in general for Runescape, although I'm still upset that they had to make the changes they did I know it was for the best.
