December 18, 200817 yr Hey there, just joined the forums a couple of minutes ago... thought this might be a pretty active forum compared to some of the other choices I had. Anyway, I'm in need of a money-making skill and I was thinking mining could be it. I've read around and have gotten mixed opinions on whether 85 Mining is really worth it, I'd like to hear what you guys have to say. I'm currently almost 77 Mining, I have the motivation to powermine myself to 85, although is it really worth it? Thanks.

December 18, 200817 yr ummm depends on what you are planning to do with the level. currently i am 95 and i think it is worth it. i am not a rune ore hunter just doing cause i like the skill. but if you are rune ore hunting then no it is not gl finding worlds that will have them

December 18, 200817 yr It's very much worth it if you can either access the dark beat ores. They are most of the time empty and if you control the worlds right you can get over 40 ores/hr it's very epic. Otherwise there is wildy or the wilderness dungeon. December 18, 200817 yr well I only play every so often, but I find that if you want to get 85 mining as your main income, it is very inconsistent. Sometimes I can get close to a million gold an hour, but other times it is closer to 200k an hour, it all depends on when you are mining. If you mine really late at night, usually there are more "full" rune rocks as there are less people mining. But i would say if you want a consistant source of income than pick a different skill.
December 18, 200817 yr it's a nonbuyable skill. if you want to lvl up, you've got nothing to lose but a little patence. i suggest getting it when you're really up to mining rune. even though it doesn't fetch a lot of profit.
December 18, 200817 yr Hopping worlds is a pain, I stopped rune mining for money after the first million gp I made. Since then it has been a useful tool for whenever I have a task to do anywhere near the rune rocks, for example dark beast task or clue in the wilderness. There are many easier ways of getting money without spending maybe months getting a required level. So only for money I'd say it's not worth it, but if you value it as an accomplishment then why not.

Only powermined the last 100k xp or so, spend vast amounts of time in the mining guild :P. 87 mining now... Since I'm f2p again I haven't tried mining runite but it's probably one of the best money makers since rune ores incresead 50+ in value since when I used to mine it (then getting 300-400k an hour). - Back to casual f2p scaping due to limited time (university and girlfriend ) -

December 18, 200817 yr Make cash with rune is very very sad. My friend had 85 mining and he had to hop to all possible worlds to mine rune. Its like get a ore and hop, get a ore and hop (always waiting 45 sec. to reconnect).

Dude. I never said that it was the fastest way. I just said that I can bank almost as efficiently as a non-level 3, so don't write off my gp/hr figures SIMPLY BECAUSE I am level 3. I ALWAYS find enough runite ores to mine that many rune ores per hour. I haven't lied once in this thread or even exaggerated in the slightest. Even when I first get to the mine, I still get a fast first inventory because I know what to look for. I know what worlds are typically available and I know what times to go back to an empty world to create a high likelihood for ores being available that second time. I know what clues to pick up, like rev activity, dropped items, running away dots, etc when entering an empty world to ensure that I get the spawn the next time. I have mined almost 10,000 rune ores to this day, so I would say that dying with 2 inventories (48) runite ores is not bad at all. Wider array of revs? There are only like 3 revs that can even attack me at all. All 3 of those cannot hit over 13 damage, which is what my HP is at when I use a sara brew. I play it smart. BEING A LEVEL 3 is an ADVANTAGE when coming to rune mining. GF, though. Oh, and I keep a record of every single rune ore that I mine, since I do my world timing in Excel... so if you don't believe me, I can pull out 5k worlds' worth of data for you (# mined per world, what world, what time, population, next spawn) [/bads]
