For the love of Guthix?

wow way to miss the point

i never said that guthix needed to make powerful items to attract followers

Actually, thats exactly what you said.

so granting followers of guthix powerful items to keep the balance seems only natural, since no follower of guthix would exploit the power thereby upsetting the balance

I don't think Guthix should have a godsword considering he slept through the god wars, and i don't think he should have a more powerful item

I think he should have an item on par with them, not in outright strength or damage capabilities but with multiple abilities, such as a silverlightesque effect against the armies of zamorak, strong poison/disease or something(ideas?) against saradomin, a weakening effect against bandos, and a decrease in the ranged ability of armadyl, these obviously would only be effective in pvp if the enemy was wielding an item associated with one of those gods

If you give his current followers powerful weapons, obviously it is going to attract more members, whether or not he wants them.

--

but knowing that he has followers, and due to the fact that he sleeps

it is not at all unreasonable to believe that his followers might be granted weapons to keep the balance as he sleeps

preventing him from having to awake and share the living [cabbage] out of everyone again

Once again, he is sleeping because there is balance. If there is not balance, he wakes up, and makes sure there is. You say that he should give mortals powerful weapons to keep the balance, so he doesn't have to wake up. He doesn't need followers, and obviously doesn't want to lend them his power.

--

saying that the followers of guthix shouldn't have a god weapon because he can wake up and handle it himself is like saying that police shouldn't have weapons because we could always just use the army

What a terrible comparison. These are fictional characters in an rpg. Not a real life emergency situation. Beyond that, it doesn't even make sense. The army does not have god powers. The police are not designed to keep apart magical forces. Your analogy fails.

it's ovbious guthix imbues his followers with certain powers, case in point being juna and the guardian at fog who's name escapes me

Her name, I believe, is Fiara. She is a shapeshifter who was given immortality to protect the power in the FOG arena, which is residue of the Stone of Jas, because saradomin followers were trying to harvest it (hence the saradomin symbols on the pillars lining the arena). She was imbued BEFORE Guthix went to sleep, ages ago, to protect the balance. She is a living thing, not an item to be weilded.

no, moocky i didn't say it was to attract followers.

Guthix being a god automatically attracts followers and though he doesn not seek them, neither does he reject them.

He values those who value balance and holds an affinity for those who strive to keep it

Yes he is sleeping because there is balance, but that doesn't mean he wants to have to wake up every time some cocky jerk decides to raise an army and try to invade. And you defeat the argument that he doesn't want to lend his power by stating that Juna and Fiara were imbued with it. Obviously he sees the use in giving powers to others in order to help protect the balance.

You really need to learn how analogies work, but let me lay it out for you.

Police = followers of Guthix

Police uphold the law

Followers of Guthix uphold the edicts

The army = Guthix

Much better armed and far more powerful and able to deal with an uprising quickly and decisively(though admittedly Guthix would have a much higher ratio of power over has followers than the army over the police so it's just a rough estimation considering the army is pretty much the pinacle of powerful forces in a country[other military forces count too])

so would you send in the police with hockey sticks just because criminals know that if they get too big in their britches we always have the army to sic on them? I think not.

Thanks for giving me the name, I always forget it. Anyway obviously in that instance Guthix chose to use one of his followers to preserve balance rather than deal with it himself, so if he can imbue his followers with power what stops him from imbuing a weapon or armor?

I might be wrong but didnt guthix put an end to the god wars by punching the ground and creating the fist of guthix

and no other god did damage to the world enought to leave such an imprint

Fine, I'll repeat everything I just said.

You stated that he should give his followers weapons to uphold the balance. Whether Guthix wants followers or not, if he gives away shiny new weapons, people would accept his ways simply to gain access to them, thus powerful weapons=attracting followers=unwanted.

Yes he is sleeping because there is balance, but that doesn't mean he wants to have to wake up every time some cocky jerk decides to raise an army and try to invade.

Why not? He would have to wake up to empower said weapons anyway.

And you defeat the argument that he doesn't want to lend his power by stating that Juna and Fiara were imbued with it. Obviously he sees the use in giving powers to others in order to help protect the balance.

He's given immortality, or other power, to very few beings, and those are LIVING THINGS not items.

You really need to learn how analogies work, but let me lay it out for you.

Police = followers of Guthix

Police uphold the law

I understand that you meant for Guthix to be the army, and for his followers to be the Police. It's just a terrible analogy. Guthix doesn't need to have powerful followers because there is balance. If there isn't balance, he wakes up and makes sure there is. End of story.

so would you send in the police with hockey sticks just because criminals know that if they get too big in their britches we always have the army to sic on them? I think not.

Now you're way off topic, still trying to compare a fictional RPG to an emergency situation, on a tangent of hypothetical nonsense. Police (Guthix's followers) are lightly armed. For squabbles, the police (Guthix's followers) are used to settle them. Say an average officer has a handgun, a tazer, and a baton. If there is a serious problem involving hostages, or high-powered weaponry (no longer balance, one god is too powerful), say a SWAT team (Guthix wakes) is called in. This SWAT team has automatic weapons and high-calibre rifles (Guthix's magic powers). The dispute is then settled (balance is restored). Said SWAT team (Guthix) wouldnt give there weapons to the police department (Guthixs followers) , because they do not need them.

Thanks for giving me the name, I always forget it. Anyway obviously in that instance Guthix chose to use one of his followers to preserve balance rather than deal with it himself, so if he can imbue his followers with power what stops him from imbuing a weapon or armor?

As stated, Fiara was given her power ages ago, before he went to sleep. Why would he become active just to bless some weapons when he could deal with the problem at hand himself?

I'm going to stop replying to you like this, because you've just fed me back the same illogical arguments, to which I've given you the same response, and it's starting to spam this thread. (Also, I'm going bed).

Guthix is the God of Noobs, this is why he fails.

And Saradomin isn't?

For the sake of 'balance', which seemingly Guthix preaches, why shouldn't he have a godsword for his followers?

I'm pretty keen for a Marimbo god sword anyway.

Because the godswords are artifacts from the god wars, wars in which Guthix did not actively fight. He was asleep during these wars, and stopped them with his own power when he woke up.

"Noob" is an insult. "Noob" is overused. Be polite. Try to say "noob" less than once a day.

Thank you.

Is there any proof that Guthix is the strongest God?

I mean, he only managed to end the God Wars by threatening to destroy Gielinor, something no other God wanted to happen.

What proof is there he has the most power?

He created Gielinor. Nuff' said....

Zamorak isnt a real "god" as he obtained his power by stealing it from a real god, Zaros. He is a phoney , and so Im waiting for the quest in which I place a [bleep]y Staff of Armadyl upright behind him, and push him over onto it....

Guthix did not create gielinor, it was the elder gods, of wich one left the stone of jas to be protected with the dragon'hai. The Elder gods left gielinor as an empty barren land, leaving only the Dragon'hai and the stone. Guthix entered gielinor and claimed it as his own, then filled it with life, the first creature being sheep. Eventually guthix sensed the stone as a result of his already godhood powers and took it from the Dragon'hai. with it, he became even more powerful.

Zamorak is a god, though only a fraction of what zaros had, the powers he wield is at least equal, if not more than that of saradomin.

[/hide]

I suppose I just got owned, but is that actual facts, or just speculation? Because I dont remember any of that in WGS. If it is all just a theory, i did not just get owned.

I didnt mean Zamorak isnt a god powers wise, I understand he is equal to saradomin, I just meant he was never a "true" god, if you see what I mean.

i weapon doesn't always have to be phisical. the weapon that guthix gave its(guthix has no definate shape) followers was knowledge, and some control over magic(druids anyone? they have knowledge over herblaw and can cast spells)

guthix doesn't need a sword of any type. it would be cool though to see some armor, but not regular armor, armor that has slightly lower stats but is the same all around, the same range mage and str bonuses and the same deff bonuses. now that is balance

Why would Guthix want a GodSword if he is the god of Peace and Balance...If he had a GodSword it would just totally mess up the balance of the world and Guthix would reset the world.

no one ever said guthix was the god of peace

he has no allegiance and desires balance so if one side became too powerful he would join with the other to restore balance

Although someone has probably already mentioned this, no, he would destroy gielinor (however its spelled) as predicted by the guys from the quest darkness of hallowvale

but guthix needs no more power, he has plenty, he can already restart the world on a whim....

Not true, he gained most of his world making powers from the sacred clay (yes, the stuff from sc)

This feels exceptional on my under-carriage.

Actually he has gotten his powers from the Stone of Jas. The Sacred Clay has more to do with revenants, since the mystics there worship them.
