John Halo Chief
The voice acting seemed bad the first time I watched the international trailer, but the more I watched it, the more the voices fit with it. I am so pumped for this game. Looks like a huge improvement over XII. Edit: I would also like to mention that the GameFAQs poll for game of the decade has FFX leading. http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=3728So...not counting FF9, right? I would much rather vote for him then whiner Tidus. I mean God... "Amg my daddy doesn't wuv me..."
shinedownkid
im psyched about it, its about time they get a new Final Fantasy game out even though i did spend countless hours on FF 12 which was an awesome game to wrap up the ps2 console. the way ps3 games are going, Final Fantasy 13 will hopefully go beyond expectations. shinedownkid
what? how can you say 12 sucked, 12 was fun. i've played, FF II, III , VI, VII, X, X-2, and XII. and everyone i would think would say 7, and 10 were the best ones out. to be honest, i think those games were fun don't get me wrong, but i liked the storyline of 12 more than the others. Kiriyama
XII had a weird battle system that was hard to grasp at the beginning, and was a pain to progress through at times. Out of the ones I've played, I'd say VIII was the best, because of how Squall developed over time, and it gave you the insight to his mind, along with the draw and junction system. X, well, Tidus was a bit of an annoyance at times, though I liked how the relationship between Tidus and Yuna developed over the course of the game, that and the amount of challenges the game gives makes it a worthwhile play. The only thing special about VII was that it was the first fully 3D FF game, was it not? Though don't get me wrong, it is a good game in it's own right, and was the first FF game I played. Nenga
I never understood why VIII was so good. VIII is my least favorite one. My favorite one landing on V. Ponies!
Harakiri
Agreed. My friend got me number eight and I hated it. Nenga
Agreed. My friend got me number eight and I hated it. This guy hit everything I hated about eight on the head. http://spoonyexperiment.com/category/final-fantasy-viii/page/3/Yeah i've seen spoony before. He left out the mistake I made on my first try through the game. It is possible to screw yourself by the time you're at the space station. I used GFs through out the game and didn't really bother to ever level up, then I got to space/Ragnarok and couldn't pass it because my two characters were too weak and the monsters would 1 hit me and my GFs, I ended up having to restart the entire game, which was actually the better option because I missed out on a lot. He also never mentions if you draw Diablo's gravity spell and then cast it on him (draw-cast will always miss), he'll use curaga on you.) Ponies! Peronix
Yeeeah. The only FF's I haven't finished from the main series are II, III.... and VIII. Couldn't stand anymore of it L. Maybe sometime when I'm reeeally bored.
Zierro
I actually enjoyed 8 a lot. You can really get into the character customization. Although the drawing was kind of lame. They should have just gave you their spells after killing them or something.
shinedownkid
even though it was an older one, I'd have to say FF 3 was a bit fun to play, being that it was only 2D, i had a bit of fun playing it as well, so it's high up there with the others i previously mentioned i enjoyed. that is until somehow i accidentally saved over my data with a new game file by accident when i wasn't finished. that kinda ruined it for me to not re continue playing. Harakiri
FFXIII is really getting mixed reviews. Japanese gaming magazines have given it pretty good reviews, but a lot of other reviews I've found scattered around the net are really negative. Most of this pertained to the fact the game is very static and there were not towns. They also complain about how linear it is, which doesn't bother me that much, hopefully that means that enemies will gradually grow in level, so that you don't run into a wall and have to go way back and level grind before you can progress more. It just means you have to go back a little and level grind. Not being a huge fan of the series-I've only played 8,10, and 12-I don't think I will have as big a problem with the comparisons to previous titles. If it sucks, I'll still probably continue to play it just because I paid full price for it. Here's the article from Famitsu: Reviewer 1 - 10/10"Although the game is linear until the midway point, the story is substantial, like no FF before it, with its own distinctive appeal. The battles based around changing characters' roles is radical, and highly strategic. The tempo is speedy and you get very excited when fighting strong enemies. Being able to restart battles is a user-friendly feature I'm happy about. Reviewer 2 - 9/10"Unquestionably the highest echelon of event and movie scenes. Moreover, changing Optimas on a dime, the varied abilities and being able to use multiple magics at once bring real exhilaration to the battles. That high quality is unfortunately offset by a story that stays linear until the midway point. The lack of gimmicks during the middle of the game also worried me." Reviewer 3 - 10/10"The overwhelming graphics expressing every nook and cranny of this unique world, along with the praiseworthy direction, moved me!! The battle system is applicable both to beginners and micro-managers. They progress quickly, and have ratings, so you never grow tired and can always fight with a feeling of urgency. The melancholic story is also so dramatic, you can't tear your eyes away from it." Reviewer 4 - 10/10"I doff my hat to the overwhelming graphics and story. Since the game's various systems become denser as the story progresses, you find yourself pulled ever deeper into the experience. The summon battles take careful planning and strategy, so I was frustrated a few times, but the feeling of achievement when you win is something special. You'll be sorry if you don't play this!" Total: 39/40 I'm actually quite perplexed with the idea of restarting battles. That would seriously make the game a bit easier an experience. If the reviewer means how I'm thinking, you would be able to gauge enemy abilities, get your [wagon] kicked while doing so, then restart and battle knowing the enemies weaknesses. Kiriyama
Well..I started playing Dissidia again. Spent most of the day trying to get the required items for Ragnarok. I then attempted what had been giving me trouble before. Chaos, level 110. I beat him with Cloud. Though, to be fair, I did boost my bravery by 400% through Accessories, and the rest were the multiplier ones, though I'd suggest switching them out for +15% and +10% damage boosters. Equipment was:RagnarokAdamant ShieldAdamant HelmAdamant Vest Most useful skill was Omnislash V 5, and I had EXP to Bravery Equipped. In total, Chaos got 1 HP attack off, and a few Bravery Attacks. I started with an EX burst too, and used Maser Eye (which, in the end was unneeded) to reduce the first form's HP by 20%. I didn't bother with my Summon (Tiamat), though I'd suggest having Odin equipped incase he get beat you in 1 hit, 50% chance to break him. The battle took around 2 minutes in total. John Halo Chief
I've beaten the GBA version of Final fantasy 1, but not 2. That... was a really bad game, at least so far. The only game I really hate is X, Tidus is so freakin' whiny it takes any fun out of it. The stupid "cloister" things are unnecessary and annoying as well. I watched my dead play VIII when I was a kid, but never got to play it because he sold it.... sounds fun though, Squall is like an emo Cloud. By the way, is Ragnarok or Fenrir better for Chaos battle with Cloud? And is it just me, or does Odin have a really huge chance of Breaking? Almost every single time I use it it works. Kiriyama
Odin is a 50% chance of causing break. Personally, I'd say go for Ragnarok. 1 less attack, but it has the advantage of +25% physical damage. If you have a better armour set, go for it, but, since you'll be dodging Chaos' attack (likely), the +30% to bravery from the Adamant set really comes in handy. I'll assume you have 10 Accessory slots. What I'd reccomend is.. Valor Incense (+100% Bravery)Valor Incense (+100% Bravery)Valor Resin (+200% Bravery)Champion Belt (+25% Physical Damage)Muscle Belt (+15% Physical Damage)Muscle Belt (+15% Damage)Gaia Ring (+15% Damage)Hyper Ring/ Crimson Crystal, Orb, Shard (+10% damage/physical damage respectively)Hyper Ring/ Crimson Crystal, Orb, Shard (+10% damage/physical damage respectively)Hyper Ring/ Crimson Crystal, Orb, Shard (+10% damage/physical damage respectively) This has become my preferred battling setup (well, I use the Genji armour since I took the effort to get the damn set), and should do you quite well. You don't have to go out your way to get all the items, aside from the Valor items. IF you don't have Champion/Muscle belts and Gaia Ring, then just replace them with the +10% boosters. In total, you'd get +95% damage (at worst) to +125% damage, at best, that assumes you use Ragnarok, of course, if you don't, knock off 25%. If you're having trouble dodging some of the attacks, I reccomend watching Youtube videos, and don't expect to win straight away, this setup worked for me, but I had about 20 attempts in other setups behind me, plus a lot of battling Level 100 Clouds in Quick Battle to make the items I wanted. And, as I said in my previous post, Omnislash V5 is the most useful, infact, if you don't have it, then don't try. Braver won't hit him, or it might, but it's too easy to dodge. EDIT: Just lost to a Level 100 Chaos, missed a dodge. So, as a note, dodging is important, though I did have EXP to HP on this time. baalboy5
They need to remake FF9, I loved FF9's atmosphere and characters. Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Harakiri
Game Informer gave FFXIII a 9.25. They were impressed by the new battle system and job and class systems. They were also impressed by the amazing graphics. They were not impressed with a lack luster story and characters with weak backgrounds and motives. John Halo Chief
They need to remake FF9, I loved FF9's atmosphere and characters.FF9 is the best FF to date, by far. I can't believe how (cabbage) they made Zidane (apparently pronounced "Zidawn") in Dissidia. He sounds like a 12 year old...Anyways, how would I get Adamant armor in the shops? Right now for Cloud I have Fenrir, (I got Ragnarok today, might try that out) Seydlitz, Chaplet, and Brigandine. Is that good enough? My trouble isn't dodging the attacks, it's the lack of warning given before the Bravery attacks that break me quickly. Also, what does Genji armor do, and how do I get it?
Kiriyama
Well..The way I did it was I had my 10 accessory slots on Cloud, I got the Chocobo to be at 100% Lucky, I equipped accessories to make him 100 luck, then bought 99 battles worth of the Item Drop Up thing from the PP store, then I battled a level 100 Cloud on High (Equipment), sticking to a battle once he had an adamant piece, until I got all the items I needed to create the set. To get Genji armour, you need to beat Chaos then buy the thing in the PP Store to add it to the regular store, but it's a pain to create, and for the set effect, you need to equip 3 of 4 pieces, which are Katana, Helmet, Shield and Heavy Armour. Kiriyama
Now go get that Genji armour.
