Orc Posted March 8, 2010 Share Posted March 8, 2010 My Final Fantasy XIII collectors edition has just popped through the door :D My collectors guide hasn't even been despatched yet though, bit miffed about that. Just having a listen through the soundtrack now, it's quite good although nothing strikes me as being 'epic'.As far as the collectors edition goes it's a bit bland but it's final fantasy so i'm not too fussed, the hardback book is quite nice :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Star. Posted March 8, 2010 Share Posted March 8, 2010 I haven't pre-ordered the game, I hope I can pick it up in store... I haven't been looking at videos of it so that I can be awed when I play it. I'm excited to see the fighting system. Favorite one had to be 7 and 12's, very easy to use and 12 worked pretty independantly. X and X-2's pissed me off majorly, it was too confusing. Orc Posted March 8, 2010 Share Posted March 8, 2010 I'm in the same boat as you, i didn't want to know anything about the game tbh or have any prejudgments, i watched the trailer and that's about it.I won't throw any spoilers in but i'll just say i'm 9 hours in so far, i've hardly scratched the surface and i'm loving it :)Plenty of people were saying it only really get's going after 20 hours and i was very sceptical, but i can say it's probably true considering how far in i am for 9 hours play, which is brilliant, it's going to last me ages. I'm really hoping for more story based content in this game and less of an addiction-centered grind fest like... pretty much all mmos on the market. But I'm not expecting much they probably engineer their mmos to be similar to all mmos, and their console games to be the games that are actually fun... IMO in a FINAL FANTASY mmo it shouldn't take more than a few times the amount of time to reach level 99 and get access to a lot of the content than it takes to get 99 on one character in your typical console game. If they wanna hook players and addict them fine, do that by making gear available that takes months to years to obtain like they have in XI like Ragnarok, Excalibur, Masamune and all that jazz. The length of time it takes to level to max in XI is STUPID. Oh yeah and how about not imposing an utterly draconian hit to exp for partying up with characters a couple levels higher. It may be 4 years old so it has the graphics of it but the pvp is really nice. You can grind but there is no better way to level up than pvp. The 2nd OB starts on Wednesday. LOL the game just came out I doubt even 0.01% of the reviewers have completed the game yet. :lol: How much do you want to bet that a lot of them haven't even played the game yet, and are reviewing it based on trailers? I trust IGN's rating a lot more at this point as no doubt they were allowed to playtest it thoroughly before it was released. I've played into about 30 minutes of it and frankly I hate the voice acting and the characters already, but then again it could get better so I guess I'll reserve judgment till I'm all the way done. It kinda felt like the first time you played FF12 and didn't like the combat system..then it just grew on you. The only real bad thing in this game is Vanille's voice. Peronix Posted March 14, 2010 Share Posted March 14, 2010 Played for a few more hours today. I had to skip some scenes because I just couldn't stomach Vanille's voice. I hate her so much. I'm hoping the "dark resolve" part of her character description means she's going to turn out to be a villain. Because I seriously want to kill her. As for the combat system, it does look visually very amazing but so far it has been ridiculously simple. Basically the first part of the game was just spamming auto battle and now the only thing extra I have to do really is switch my characters to defensive / healer mode when someone gets below half health.
