What will Happen With new Releases in the Future

An interesting thing would be to duplicate the hitpoints skill. Figure like a new skill, "endurance" that was treated exactly like hitpoints, stacked on top of your old HP, and only trainable once you hit 99 in normal hitpoints. Would allow people who max out but still train a better way to get more health.

beautiful idea...that should be taken under consideration. =D>

Important Slayer Drops: masks-8, leafbladed sword, gmaul-3

Important treasure trail rewards: zammy page 1(3), rune kite g, zammy crozier, sara mitre, sara dhide, rune helm h1, guth page 4(2), zammy full helm, guth legs(3), sara chaps, guth page 3, zammy legs(2), and sara full helm, zammy pl8, zammy page 2, rune cane, sara page, sara crozier, zammy crozier, guth coif

Maybe more items such as those spirit shields that reduce a certain amount of % damage taken would make it work.

Thats the right idea to deal with the current high damage weapons with an armour solution. They need %damage redux armour more common now. You would have to be crazy (like spank my [wagon] with a slice of ham crazy) to take one of those new shields into a pvp situation.

or just really rich and drunk...

i do hope that they do something like that, or increase the hp cap. even 120 would be good.

But with the current leveling curve you would need like 130m exp to hit 120 hits. I think it works out to 126 is 200m exp. Thats an INSANE number for a stat like hits. Even if they did raise the cap to 126 like only a handful of people can take advantage of it, thus it wouldn't make much of a difference.

Wow dpattle...Way to keep meaninglessly bumping your topic for the intention of being a hot topic owner... ^ You had 3 posts in a row above me on this page, all within 15 minutes of each other. Stop trying too hard -.-

OT: New weapon releases will probably have no effect on Pvp as someone stated, because as stronger weapons come out stronger armour will as well. With hitpoints, I doubt they will ever raise it - one skill above 99 would mean them all right? That will never happen.

^^ agreed. nobody should waste their time making a hot topic. it's stupid and pointless. each thread carries their own controversal values.

This is something I think is going to be a major issue in the future. With finite level limits, and the fact that jagex originally released equipment on the scale of an upgrade every 10 levels, they limited their ability to have continually increasing upgrades.

I personally would like to see socketing come into runescape, or levelable weapons. Personally, if a dragon long leveled up and changed graphics as you used it more. I would go and whip out my D long and start using it.

Having a weapon like one in the bonus campaigns for Neverwinter nights would be awesome in my opinion. I forget what it's called, but it's a sword with the soul of a mage trapped inside it, you can talk to it for some hilarity, and as you level in the game it gives you the option to add different enchantments, say ice or fire damage, or a vampiric effect(like guthans), or draining certain stats in order to increase damage, but you can only choose a certain number of enchantments, and once you've chosen you can't change them.

This could even be done with the training sword, you get it as a noob, and it levels up with you, and you can only have one per player, if you somehow lose it, it returns to lumbridge or something and you can go and retrieve it.

Many games have things similar to this, and i think it would be a fun addition to the game, weighing the benefits of 1-10 lightning damage on hit which will momentarily stun your opponent if they're wearing metal armor, versus 50% of damage done being put back to your health, versus draining your health(or accuracy) to add to the power of your blows.

Why is everyone crying about him making a thread that you think should be a hot topic?

We still need more variety in the 70+ levels before we go to 80+.

Everybody from medium level to high level either uses a whip or a godsword.

How about a weapon a bit stronger then whip and a bit slower? Bit faster and a bit weaker? More accurate but less strong? Stronger but less accurate? Etc.

When there's more variety in the choices available now, we can progress to higher level equipment.

If 3 weapons were released this year, 70 attack req for example, with the variations of being stronger but slower then whip etc that alone would cause enough debating over which weapon was the best to use and enough variety for people to forget about higher level weapons at least for a while.

In which time Jagex can decide how to implement higher level equipment.

um, i thought thats where the best armour comes in already. one can't use barrows till lvl 70 in the relevant skill, and technically, all the best armour is in fact at the moment in the 70s. Lets not forget the underated vestas and such...though i dont like the cost, or the fact that it doesnt last that long.

We need lvl 80+ armour/weapons that can bought fairly easily(maybe 10m or so). and if we get that, then the level 70 armour/weapons will go down if price, which should be good for those of that level. lolz.

I was talking about weapons, not armour.

BUT, today i did hear an insanely crazy idea from my cc, so insane, it could work.

So what if(and keep an open mind) There was rs3???

It'd really be something to consider. Kinda like how rs2 was based off of rsc(though i'm not exactly sure how that worked when they did that) rs3 could be rs2(current) but with more skills? a different limit cap? and this isn't saying as to eliminate rs2 as they seem to have done to rsc, but rather build on it. Me and the clan discussed this and maybe in rs3 the level limit would infact be raised somehow? so those with 99's in relevant skills can continue to increase it with new armour and weapons for levels past 99, yet not being able to use those on rs2 as they would be too powerful. That way no1 would have to worry about rs ceasing to exist because everyone finished playing and are now bored. Honestly, right now i dont know what people like kingduffy and co are doing on the game. just getting exp? its cool and all, but what if they actually had a reason to get that exp? course it'd be very hard and no joke, but it would be an amazing solution. \'

yeah but there are so many problems with increasing the level cap as pertaining to how exp would work for it, i just dont know how they'll be able to do it? and would it even be fair to people who already have 200m exp? what would happen? how high do you think they could even go that a mass amount of people could reach. in the post before i speculated on how a whole new rs "world" or something could be opened for those who need to be able to train higher. maybe like a 90+ skill world where you can train anything anyhow if it's 90+ and have it go past 99? idk, jw

Thoughts?

I agree, Runescape is heading towards a dead end wall.

The way I see it one of three things are going to happen with Rs:

1. Rs3 will be made.

2. Add a record keeper like thing which resets your 99 stats back to 1 but with the use of all of your lvl 99 abilities (i.e. crafting dragon hide armor when your stats show lvl 1) and keep track of how many times you can make it to 99.

3. Rs dies and falls to the wayside, making room for funorb, mechscape, and whatever else jagex comes up with.

But until then have fun because all games have a beginning and an end.

[hide=Drops]Dragon: Spear x1, Med helm x3, legs x2, pickaxe x1, skirt x3, scimitar x1

Barrows: DH helm x1, Verac Brassy x2, Karil Skirt x1, Ahrim Hood x2, Guthan Spear

GWD: Arma Helm x1

Other: Handcannon x4, Leaf Bladed Sword x3[/hide]

The way I see it one of three things are going to happen with Rs:

What does that even mean?

I've heard some amazing ideas, both on this thread and elsewhere. Weapons and armor that level as you use them, specialized equipment, PvM exclusive, etc, etc. I do not think the HP cap needs to be raised. Instead, they COULD change the way HP works. Say your hitpoints and your hitpoints level were two separate entities. You gain two hitpoints per hitpoints level, so at level 99 HP you have 198 hitpoints. That's just an example of course, but it's far more plausible than raising the cap. You could also have this effect disabled in PvP, so that your 99 HP was really 99 hitpoints.

Attaching items to weapons that give them a boost while making them untradable is a possibility. Fools idea of taking a chance at reinforcing your armor was pretty good, and I wouldn't mind more PvP style equipment that degrades quickly but offers immense benefits.

Remember that if there would be a new limit to skills, like the afore-mentioned 126...

You'd need insane amounts of XP to get there. Maybe new stuff to make/do that grants you more xp, but for combat levels it's still quite slow.

rs3 will be new graphics but same everything else and i think jagex says that updates will suck for the whole of 2009

I don't think increasing the HP cap would solve anything. Since many high leveled players can solo most monsters intended to be hard, imagine how much easier it would be with 150 hitpoints instead of 99. This would mess up Jagex had made.

I think instead there should be a PVP only HP type-thing. Lets call this Blood Amount (BA) for now. If player A hits player B he might do for example 23 HP damage and 15 BA. You would only be able to die if you lose all of both but, food could only heal HP and certain drinks/potions could raise your BA. This would make PVP more strategic. But since many people would cheat and only use HP healing food which gets rid of all strategy, it should be that if you lose all your BA your defence would start lowering until you get some more. The same would go with HP, you would lose attack over time until you regain health. This way the PVM system would not be affected.

...Or Jagex could take the easy way out and make something like damage reducing armours ;)

Admiral_Caro.png

Damage reducing abilities on all armour, maybe raise monster attacks to keep it dangerous. This combined with upgradeable weapons are a feasible option.

Upgradeable weapons works like this. To upgrade to +1 you need a basic weapon and a special gem or crystal. You need a Gem+1 to upgrade to weapon+1. To uprade a +1 to a +2 you need two Gem+1 and a certain amount of cash, then you combine them for a single Gem+2. To make a Gem+4 you would need a total of eight Gem+1. To upgrade you put the Gem+? in the weapon socket(wich, if not existing, can be bought)on the weapon with the appropiate last gem in place, and it becomes Weapon+?. After a certain number of combintations the gems break occationally. Every +1 is worth a certain percentage, accuracy or strength. I assume % is the best bet.

Look at it this way to see the outcome of this.

You wear a normal outfit, wich gets you 20% reduce. you opponent hits a normal hit, and the reduce takes away some of the damage. This means that you paid nothing for a major damage reduction.

Hit 25: 25-5 = 20 end hit

Hit 30: 30-6 = 24 end hit

Hit 70: 70-14 = 56 end hit

You wear a normal outfit, wich gets you 20% reduce, and your opponent wields a +5 weapon. The opponent has invested in at least 16 gem+1's. Each +1 is worth 2%

Hit 25: 25-2.5 = 22.5 end hit

Hit 30: 30-3 = 27 end hit

Hit 70: 70-7 = 63 end hit

You wear a 40% reduce outfit, and your opponent wields a +16.

Hit 25: 25-2 = 23

Hit 30 : 30-2.4 = 27.6

Hit 70: 70-5.6 = 64.4

Something like that, The +1's could equal more or less precentage according to the cost and difficulty in succseeding in upgrading.

We need more things like elysian or divine spirit sheilds.

But dont make then so rare that they are 1.3-1.5b street price.

oversized.jpg[/bads]

Even if they did raise the cap to 126 like only a handful of people can take advantage of it, thus it wouldn't make much of a difference.

maybe they could change the way hp works. make it so you need less hp xp per level or just change the rule once it hits 99.
