My question is just equipment in general. Some people say we will soon reach the end of rs equipment updates (ie weapons, armour and such mostly). Do you think this is true?

 

 

 

If Jagex continues to come out with newer and newer items, wont they have to get stronger and stronger naturally? What happens when they become too too strong? Some people say certain things are overpowered now, but what happens when everything can hit in the 50's regularly? How will pvp cope with all the updates that are sure to come? i wish i could go into more detail about this, but its hard to say it all.

 

 

 

Also, there have been different suggestions about how this could be avoided, like my personal favorite, banning weapons deemed "overpowered" from pvp but leaving them for higher lvl monsters still to be released. And my least favorite, raising some current lvs past the max, most likely hp so the new higher powered weapons wouldnt bother pvp too much, as i just cant imagine how that would be done.

 

 

 

what are your thoughts on all this...? What should be done to prevent all this. Because all i know is that stopping rs updates just really isnt a choice tbh. I know its a mouthful, and i was actually thinking about making this a full fledged article first, but i think i prefer a forum topic.

First of all, how do these topics get picked as hot topic of the weak? is it just random or does it have to do with how many people reply or just how tipit mods like the topics? So i thought i'd start a topic and see how people respond to it, i think it'd be awesome to be the hot topic of the weak and have every1 chime in as they usually do with those.

agreed, and whatever comes out will be through planning, and as higher hitting weapons come out higher armour will come out, and better prayers, and eventually the level cap will be extended as i think one day they will have no choice, thats your answer.

We still need more variety in the 70+ levels before we go to 80+.

 

 

 

Everybody from medium level to high level either uses a whip or a godsword.

 

 

 

How about a weapon a bit stronger then whip and a bit slower? Bit faster and a bit weaker? More accurate but less strong? Stronger but less accurate? Etc.

 

 

 

When there's more variety in the choices available now, we can progress to higher level equipment.

 

 

 

If 3 weapons were released this year, 70 attack req for example, with the variations of being stronger but slower then whip etc that alone would cause enough debating over which weapon was the best to use and enough variety for people to forget about higher level weapons at least for a while.

 

 

 

In which time Jagex can decide how to implement higher level equipment.

At some point they are going to have to raise the level cap. 99 hits is just to low. As for equipment they can do alot. One thing i would like to see is weapons we can level. For example you can make your DScim a +dragon scim. The more dragons you slay with it the bigger the bonus against dragons i gets. Like how the more black knights you slay the more rep you get with the white knights. Having a level +99 to dragons Dscim would be cool. You could do the same with amour. They could also add sockets to armour and weapons (making them un tradeable as to not mess up the GE and making the stuff to put in the sockets so expensive that no one would use them in PvP).

 

 

 

What i really think they should do is at least make a one hand sword with a kick [wagon] graphic that is the same speed and bonus as a whip. Everyone is so sick of whips.

 

 

 

Another thing i would like to see that is a feature of alot of korean mmos is breakable upgrades. Say you have 99 smithing, you can upgrade armour, say a guthans plate, with no risk up to +4. Every level after +4 there is a chance that the armour will break and be gone forever. Also, every level past +4 there is a greater and greater chance that the amour will break. So by the time you end up with a +10 you have broken hundreds of guthans amours making that +10 worth a fortune and also taking all the other guthans plates out of the game. Making the remainder guthans plates worth more and giving new players a new cash stream doing barrows again. There needs to me more mechanisms to take items out of the game. They will never impliment such a hardcore feature such as this because this game is catered twards mid level noobs, AKA young kids that have no balls.

 

 

 

I could go on forever, i have like 10 years experience playing online MMORPGS, i have hundreds of ideas to make this game better, but the target audience would never go for it so ill stop now. I still love this game though, of all the MMOS this one works best for me at this time in my life.

I believe that Jagex won't stop come out with new weapons, but instead put in more "normal" hitting weapons than very strong weapons. New weapon types will be introduced.

That would be a good thing for all of us. Say he did have the intention of making a hot topic. That would mean he's aiming to make a thread with a lot of discussion value - which is a plus for the forums.

I don't think Jagex would let it get to that state. If it got to the point where almost everyone was maxed out and there was no variety of levels when it came to the players, Jagex would find a new creative way to incorporate elitism into the game.

 

 

 

For example, they could make a mini game where your rank reflected the bonuses you get in the mini game. This would create a boundary between weak players and strong players. Kind of like Barbarian Assault except on a much greater scale.

I"m personally hoping for specialized weapons and armor. Around the 90s there should start being extremely focused weapons that really can't be used for everything, such as the whip. I think that they'll make a weapon that'll really good crush, another for amazing stab, etc. To counter this, they'll make armor that will have incredible defense for slash, but horrid for the rest.

They could also release Elemental Weapons where the elements would have a rock, paper, scissors effect. (Fire weak against water, water weak against earth, etc.) And the more you used your weapon or armor, the stronger the element for it would become.

I would like to see 80+ armor and wepons with the same stats as bandos or dragon or maybe barrows.

 

These types of armor/wepons would have a special effect against one type of monster.

 

Say, a Reaped Scimitar would be good against monsters with no armor on them.

 

While a Blazed Battleaxe would be good for monsters with more armor.

 

Those wepons would be the same as a dragon scmitar or a dragon battleaxe in PvP (because of their stats) but have a special effects towards npc's.

 

 

 

The same would apply for the armor.

 

It wouldnt have to degrade, but would be hard to get as a drop.

 

It could also be a reward from a minigame.

 

I doubt jagex will ever raise the level cap though.

Thats the right idea to deal with the current high damage weapons with an armour solution. They need %damage redux armour more common now. You would have to be crazy (like spank my [wagon] with a slice of ham crazy) to take one of those new shields into a pvp situation.

Weapons and armour much like the slayer helm which give bonuses against certain monsters/enemies, and also armour much like armadyl, which gives negative effects for other attack types.

Been shouting it ever since the anchor was released! (Wow we called that overpowered when it wasn't nerfed, and it was still weaker than an AGS hit!)

 

 

 

Don't know if much will change on the short time though: with jagex' aim to "fix" this year I dont'see any high level gear coming out soon.

I've heard different ideas and such, and 1 i still don't understand is how they would go about raising the level cap? and would people who have 200m(exp cap) automatically have what ever the new highest level is?

 

 

 

I like the ideas for the hit reducing armour to counteract the high hitting weapons. =)

 

 

 

OT: has anyone else noticed that with straight 99 combat skills on a member world(obviously including summoning) someone would have a combat lvl of 138.35? since it can go higher than 138, does that mean that highes combat lvl will still go up? or maybe it was just because it didn't even out after summoning idk.

um, i thought thats where the best armour comes in already. one can't use barrows till lvl 70 in the relevant skill, and technically, all the best armour is in fact at the moment in the 70s. Lets not forget the underated vestas and such...though i dont like the cost, or the fact that it doesnt last that long.

 

 

 

We need lvl 80+ armour/weapons that can bought fairly easily(maybe 10m or so). and if we get that, then the level 70 armour/weapons will go down if price, which should be good for those of that level. lolz.

An interesting thing would be to duplicate the hitpoints skill. Figure like a new skill, "endurance" that was treated exactly like hitpoints, stacked on top of your old HP, and only trainable once you hit 99 in normal hitpoints. Would allow people who max out but still train a better way to get more health.
