Mount & Blade: You conquer castles and stuff!

Sweet, I just became a marshal. Now I can ask other lords to follow me around, raid places, patrol, and a bunch of other stuff. :)

Btw, lances freaking own! I just mow [cabbage] down.

I liked the last tournament I was in. I had a horse and a lance every time.

I did 200 damage to the King of the yellow kingdom. It was funny. He had a one-handed axe, no horse, and I had a horse, shield, and lance. Finished him in one couched hit. :3

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

I changed the Lord capture rate from 20% to 80%, it was pissing me off how I'd fight tooth and nail to kill their 150 man armies, and then they'd just scamper off and return in a few days with another one. So presently, I have around 8 lords rotting away in my prison tower, with more being added daily. Muwahaha.

What file and line did you edit? Because I definitely agree that it's annoying as hell. I just helped the Vaegirs out with a massive Khergit battle (I'm dead set on wiping these [bleep]ers out first thing), 500 vs their 460 or something. We beat them, but 6 of their 10 lords managed to escape. I almost cried.

Anyway, after getting my [wagon] handed to me in a siege, I had to start building up a new army from scratch (save for 6 heroes). I have to say it's starting to look pretty damn impressive now. A bunch of Nord footmen (huscarls, once again, rule), Vaegir archers and 40 or something Hired Blades. I've got over 10 heroes as well with some sweet gear. All in all 138 troops.

And I managed to find a Masterwork Sword of War in the marketplace! The best 2H weapon in the game - bought it for 15k denars. It has a reach of 130 and 95 in speed. It's just ridiculous how awesome it is. :P This, together with my Lordly plate armour and Lordly plate gloves (both for 80k+ denars), I'm pretty hard to knock down at the moment!

Anyone have a problem/bug when you start a battle with your allies and they just turn around and stand on the opposite edge of the battlefield from where the enemy's coming, and they just stay there until the battle's over? If so, do you guys know how to fix it?

It's [bleep]ing annoying.

I forgot to say what i thought about the game.

I tried it out for about an hour, but i don't know, i somehow didn't like it... Just wasn't for me i guess.

But here's some good news for you all:

http://www.fz.se/nyhetsarkiv/?id=31507

"In multiplayer, only the battle will exist - not the rest of the world/game.

And there will be some other news as well: The campaign will get a few additions (for instance, a new side to fight with - or against), better AI for moving on the map and some graphical improvements. The gameplay will get some additions as well, being able to duck for example."

"A few different play-modes will be available for multiplayer: deathmatch, team deathmach, siege-scenarios and possibly CTF.

Çimenbiçer also mentions possibilities for historic battles, where players in a team start on certain positions and go together to later meet the opponents in a battle"

"Atleast 32 players + possible bots will be able to fight on the same server. But they are aiming for 50-60, depending on the severs and connections. The expansion should be availble in summer."

ok il downloaded the demo and played throught already, at first i didnt really like it, i was getting annoyed coz i kept on hitting 0's with my sword then i realised it was because i was aiming at their feet, and i couldnt ride a horse in battle, so id have to jump off and run around so i figured out how to ride a horse properly

finally i got a few people in my party and did a couple of quests, then i expanded my party to around 20 and i thought i was invincible but then in a rather large battle i wasnt paying attention to my health and i got knocked out, and i kept sending my troops in to battle and we lost so i was taken prisoner

when i finally escaped i ran into 3 seperate partys of like 8 and then i got to the max level

think i might buy it

o and what are you supposed to do with prisoners

If the prisoners are regular troops (i.e. not lords or kings) then you can either sell them to slave traders, try to recruit them to your army (although this will reduce the party morale a bit), or if you own a castle you can put them in the garrison and recruit them later or whatever.

If you capture a lord then someone will eventually try to buy them from you (usually a few 1000 denars).

In other news I just defeated the Khergit Khanate. No more annoying mounted archers!

However my kingdom isn't at war with anybody right now, so I've got nothing to do... so I'm mostly just chilling in Narra... been there for over one month now. It sucks that I can't start wars myself; even though I've been appointed marshal twice in a row now. Ugh.

If you're high-ranking in one group and continuously raid another, doesn't that bring war fast? I dunno.

I really need to buy this game sometime.

Yeah, that would work. However, it's so much simpler to just click "Wait here for some time", lean back and wait for us to start war with another kingdom. I'll probably do what you suggested though unless we start a war real goddamn soon.

Also, thanks OldJoe for posting some more info on the new expansion. It sounds really sweet.

Go do quests for the lords in your faction; eventually one of them will say he's annoyed with the peace with whatever faction and send you to go raid a few of their caravans, which will start the war.

Or you can just play Native Expansion, start your own kingdom and declare war on another faction yourself. I've wiped out the Swadians and have around 8 parties of 150+ men burning a path through the Rhodok lands, taking everything they have. Right now they only have 2 or 3 castles left muwahaha.

And for editing the lord capture rate and whatnot, look here:

Just played the demo, but I really don't know how to play.

Is there a way to heal without getting captured and losing your army? And what's a good way to make money? Once those two things are figured out, this game could easily be worth buying.

P.S. How big can you make your party at maximum?

to heal either go to a castle and "stay here for some time" or "camp" the camp button is bottom left, and yeah just wait a bit

for money just battle and take all their items go to the nearest castle and sell it all

i think its like 20-25 at the start, get Leadership points to increase the party limit

You heal over time. Resting in cities will speed it up, as will having a party member with points in the wound treatment skill. Good way to make money is just go kill things. Sea raiders are pretty good as they're easy to kill and drop decent equipment for selling. Having a party member with some points in the trade skill also helps here.

I'm running around with 600K+ denars, though admittedly I did tweak the game so that the merchants have around 50K denars, so I can actually sell all the gear I get from battles.

The size of your party is based off three things: Charisma, Leadership skill, and renown. For every point you put into Charisma, you get +1 to party size. Every leadership skill gets you +5 to your skill, and for every x amount of renown (dont remember the exact number - renown is gained from winning battles and tournaments) you get +1 to party size. Theoretically you could have 1000+ party size if you had a ridiculous amount of renown, but that would take a looooong time.

This week I might be earning like thirty bucks. It'd be grand if I did. I could buy this. Are there any specials coming up soon, though?

Just saw this posted on the TaleWorld forums Lent:

Azvareth, I think I love you

I discoverd M&B a loooong time ago, forgot about it and just remembered it now, when I stumbled across this.

Say, have TaleWorlds added any new factions they said they were going to ?

What factions existed when you played? I think there are currently 5 factions. They're also working on an expansion where they'll add a bunch of new stuff, including multiplayer.

Best way to earn money in the beginning: tournaments, hands down. Don't bother building up an army until you have decent weapons, horse and armour yourself. Ater that, recruit heroes and villagers and level them up on sea raiders etc., and work on your renown until you're offered vessel(ship?) by a faction's king.
