I don't know. They have specials on smaller games all the time, though. I'll check if there's one now...

Nope, not right now. I know I've heard of some sort of special on Mount & Blade coming up soon, either there or Steam or something. Like a summer sale.

Doubt its Steam, they just had a huge offer on like 5 games recently,so it may be a while till they give another one.Still,I watch out for it.

Yep. It blows. But it's realistic.

I'm a sore loser anyways, so I enabled cheats. Whenever I lose I just say, "[bleep] YOU" cheat, build an army of champion huskarls, cavaliers and arbalestiers 200-strong and basically [bleep] every single army of whoever beat me in the face.

Hopefully one day developers will realize that sacrificing fun for realism is almost always a bad idea.

Still, cheats you say? I didn't know there were cheats. Havoc shall ensue the day of the next deal.

The problem with cheats is they take the fun out of the game. And besides, if you're starting over each battle you lose, you're also losing your equipment, experience, companions, and their experience.

Just don't fight battles you don't think you can win.

Oh, I quit after I rage-destroy their entire kingdom. I save before every battle I'm in anyways.

It's just bad at the beginning, when you're still small. Especially on NE. Damn Graveth told me to scout the Khergits, but forgot to tell me their 2000-man warparty was patrolling (faster than me >:l) the same area. That was a bad day. Had to leave behind, like, 30 troops.

I got this game today and I found it a bit hard to control. Are the controls really like that where you use the mouse to rotate the camera etc.? I guess it'll take a while for me to get used to it.

Yea it takes a while to get used to in the beginning, but once you do you'll realize how awesome the controls are.

Like...gallop beside someone, aim the mouse down, start your swing, and release just at the right moment. Feels sooo good when you slice their face off hehe.

Don't forget about the gazillion steppe bandits running around the Khergit lands! :wall:

Yay for deals! Just finished installing \'

Edit:

Alright, now I'm pissed.

[hide=]mbwtf.png[/hide]

It worked fine from Steam, and I know I have the textures because sometimes they flash in. Wtf is wrong with this?

This is why I hate technology, it's always some [bleep]ing thing.

Few things could help that:

1. Update your graphics card drivers.

2. Install the latest version of Direct x: http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/AboutGFW/Pages/DirectX10.aspx

3. Start Mount & Blade, when the initial screen pops up, hit configure and set the render method to Direct X 7 (or Direct x 9 if you're already on 7).

If those don't work let me know.

Does anyone have a good mod I could try?

1257 Edition

Sword of Damocles

Hundred Years War

Eagle and the Radiant Cross

Also, if you wan't to try out mods for older versions of Mount & Blade, you can download the older versions here (since some of the mods haven't been ported over to 1.011).

Thanks guys, it worked after I switched from Drectx9 to 7.

P.S. I got pretty far, and the Nords love me because I've been assisting in battled. Look at this one. Who do you think will win?

Yeah, Lord Knudarr is such a [kitty].

Vaegirs really are morons. They keep threatening and declaring war on my kingdom. I only have two lords, but my army is spread out and numbers at about a thousand (many of them near the top rank) troops. And I've conquered half of the green on the map. And colored myself olive, just to mind[bleep] them. I'm actually about to take Knudarr, after I demolish their war party and take everyone prisoner.

I've dusted off my copy of M&B and been playing it again this last week, i've found a great mod. http://forums.taleworlds.net/index.php/board,91.0.html

It's called extended gameplay 3, and it's much like the Native expansion, except it's imo alot better. I don't want to give much away about what the mod involves because as the creator of it said, he wants people to find it out by playing it. I've also eben using ther graphics packs the creator suggests.

[hide=Spoiler about EG3]The game has the normal mod stuff, like extra armours, new units etc, i won't go into detail about them.

But the main reason this mod is so good imo, is that it finally gives M&B a purpose. Most other versions have basically the same premise, you go around building your army, either making your own kingdom or joining another and taking buildings.

EG3 has a system where it feels as if the whole game is one big story if you think about it enough.

The Mod has a system, where after level 7, you have a 50/50 chance of dieing when knocked unconcious during a battle. Once dead, you become a spirit, (nothing actually changes about your appearence, except you get a flaming skull helm which has incredible armour bonuses). Your spirit only has enough strength to last 20 days before vanishing. The basic premise is to stop that from happening. You ened to get 3 charms to ressurect yourself.

Death ward: It's gotten by beating an army of the dead. These are small armies usually 40-60 in size, but they are made up of the strongest units in the game. These are spirits, much like you as the player. I've personally had a 100 strong army wiped out by the army of the dead, and only killing one of their units.

Charm of Regeneration: when doing regular battles in the game, if you are involved in a large battle, or against very strong armies, you have chances of getting either war, battle or epic trophies in the loot. These can either be gambled in for normal items at markets individually, or by having one of each traded for the charm of regeneration at any market. The charm also slowly heals you while in battle, so it's a good one to get first.

And lastly, the charm of fear. This is gotten by beating a migrating barbarian army. What makes them strong? It's that the army is spawned at 500+ units. They aren't particularly strong, but with those numbers, their battle advantage always means that they outnumber any on the battlefield, and have more troops in reserve than any army aswell.

The way i think of it, is that it's proving strength, by killing a small but incredibly strong army, endurance, by having enough battles to get all the trophies, and bravery, by daring to go up against a 500 strong army.

Personally i've not got the charm of fear yet, so i don't know what happens after that, but it definately gives the game much more of a purpose. Your a man/woman trying to save yourself from your own imminent death.[/hide]

Another mod that looked like it had some promise was the Fire Arrow mod: http://forums.taleworlds.net/index.php/board,133.0.html

Thise mod's shining feature is that you can set things on fire. You can use, or get your army to use torches and fire arrows to set anything made of wood/sraw etc on fire, and it will burn (apparently). I say apparently, because the creator of this mod ruined his own mod, which could have been incredible if he hadn't. He ruined it by changing the troop upgrade system. He made a system, where for example, to train one single castle guard to the next tier troop, you personally need to get him x helm, x weapon, x armour, x boots etc. This totally ruined this mod for me. Having to go around 12 towns just to find the items to upgrade one single unit is utter lunacy.

Yay! Thread resurrection!

I have another mod some people should check out: Lords and Realms. I've been playing this one for quite some time now, and I'm absolutely in love with it. The troops trees aren't so overpopulated like with Native Expansion, and there are a plethora of new armours, weapons, and horses, so you can deck your hero out like you please.

http://forums.taleworlds.net/index.php?board=120.0

You can check it out there ^

Also, I took every single banner I could off of the TaleWorlds forum, and put them all together into a big banner pack (I asked the creator's permission, of course). It's around 1200 custom banners, and you can download it here:

http://www.mbrepository.com/modules/PDdownloads/singlefile.php?cid=6&lid=1420

Also, Warband should be released soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

I'm so looking forward to warband, heres some info for people:

Mount&Blade: Warband. introduces a number of features that players have specifically requested and which will vastly improve the overall gameplay experience of this revolutionary title.

Key features revealed for the first time at E3:

- Overhauled graphics; HDR, FSAA, Depth of Field, Soft particles, Tone Mapping and many other effects are all now implemented.

- Majority of Models are being redone.

- Multiplayer battles can now handle up to 64 players with Mods including Team Death Match and Search & Destroy.

- Ability to become the ruler of a faction and convince lords to become your vassals in the Single Player Campaign.

- Ability to upgrade your companions to vassalage by granting them land.

- Improved Mechanics for Soldier Morale: Soldiers will break and run away if their morale gets too low.

- Formations

- Completely new faction (Possibly Asian Influenced according to Screenshots)

- Customizable quick battles

- New weapons, armour, etc. to add with the new faction.

- Diplomacy options

- Improved stragetic AI

- More options in sieges

- Improved horse archery

- It'll be more difficult to keep soldiers from an enemy faction. For example, if you are a Vaegir and you keep raiding Swadian villages, swadian troops in your party will be more likely to desert and your party morale will be reduced.

You can guess which part i'm mostly looking forward too.

Looking through ING's screenshots of warband, there is one with a boat, which has got some people thinking there may be some kind of naval element to warband, which could be amazing.
