F2P Mage and range underpowered

If anything, I would say that mage is overpowered, especially in FOG, where on F2P, I routinely get owned by mages several combat levels lower than me. As for ranged, I find that if a ranger is 5-10 combat levels higher than me, I'm as good as dead, otherwise, it depends on how close we are.

Or it could be something about magic hitting 16s from a distance while melee runs around trying to hit 10s =D>

At higher levels melee can hit 27s with a scimitar while mages run around trying to hit 16s at half the speed melee is delivering 27s.

^Not really. Mage is ridiculously weak at your combat level. And most rangers you'll face probably have 90+ range to your 70 attack and strength.

 

Of course it is. And if he was 99 range and 25 attack and strength, he would find melee grossly underpowered at his combat level. You have to go off the combat level of the skills used, not the total combat level. That's why I fight in the 100 range when testing range tanking.

Which it is. Mage is hitting accurate 16s, melee is hitting frequently-missing 10s.

But you've got to stick to the level requirements. An iron scimitar is ineffective at level 94 also. I'm just saying that FTP is fine except for the high end spells, which is namely a problem because they don't have any. Add another set of elementals and boost the requirements for the lower level ones :P

Yeah and some better bind spells and perhaps a set of robe bottoms that is non degradable??

 

 

 

I find it absurd that mages don't even have proper robe bottoms. I mean SERIOUSLY... Melee has like 7+ types that are non-degradable...

Yes, open up Wave spells for F2P (will boost up the blood economy after the BA glitch), add Snare, and boost up the level requirements for the combat spells, to even it all out. Also, I think it would be fair to give F2P yew shortbows, and longbows. And maybe give them rune arrows too, although I'm a bit afraid that rune arrows could make Range overpowered in F2P.

Range is powerful all the way up to 99, no changes need to be made.

What defence do they have against mages? And how many do they have at level 1? I'm coming up with 2, only one of which is the best and is still complete crap statwise.

Crossbow animation makes it far too delayed. Magic spells work great at low levels as a surprise high hit when ranging.

Yeah? Jagex clearly stated that f2p deserves updates and f2p is not just a demo version of the game. P2P gets enough updates per month. Wow I had to state this 2-3 times. This is a balancing update of the triangle, that won't benefit f2p mage so greatly that all p2p mages just go and play f2p. Jagex seeks to attract f2p players to subscribe to p2p, and the best way is to entice them with incomplete spellbooks/armor types/etc so they will want to get p2p.

 

 

 

Honestly, these snobby and selfish p2p players makes me sick. How the hell does the $5 you pay give you an opinion in what Jagex should update? You think they care about your freaking $5? Leave if you want, and I gurantee you, more people will surely take your place and Jagex will earn more.

The usual marketing BS. FTP is a big hole into which Jagex pours money, in hopes that enough members will come crawling out to make up for it. They're a business, not a non-profit organization. Like most businesses, they concentrate on earning money so they can improve the game for their paying customers. Every dollar they spend on FTP is a dollar less for PTP - they will rarely deprive the group generating a profit just so the freeloaders get a better game.
