j mods are crashing to 0.0 and to the person who said they can ip ban im pretty sure jagex does not have the authority to dish out ip bans probably perm bans at most

IP bans dont work... Unless you specificaly ask for a static IP address from your ISP (which usually costs extra) your normally on a dynamic IP address, which changes regually. eg, most people can just disconnect their modems for a few minutes and reconnect and be given a new one. Thats why services like punkbuster use hardware serials ect.. that prevents the computer from accessing services.

We are also aware of the issue regarding crashing, but we are not in a position to comment any further right now.

 

 

 

We have a specialist team investigating the issue, and we will let you know if there is any information that needs passing on.

 

 

 

We are busy right now confirming the problem, and trying to establish the root cause of the crashes, so that we can implement a fix if needed.

 

 

 

Although we still need to do some investigation, it does seem that the crashes are linked to the public chat function, and so far we have been unable to replicate the crashes on an account that has all chat settings on 'off', 'private' or 'friends'.

They use routers. They switch their routers off for a few minutes and get a new dynamic ip address. ALL routers have at least a Static IP Address, most also have a Dynamic IP address, which allows for the switching.

When I tried this, I was using a neighbours router.

I actually think they might do for once because once word spreads, most people won't be making much money from drops, which means only 1-2m max could be lost by people caused by the rollback.

JaGeX hasn't done a roll back in forever, I highly doubt they will do one for this.

Actually more than likley they just pmed the code to you instead since you were alone woodcutting.

 

I get the feeling it wont be safe to do anything dangerous for most of the evening until a good Samaritan comes forward and tells Jagex what the code is...

 

 

 

The longer this goes on, the higher chance we will have a rollback, since it has effected almost every person playing.

Brianite3, it's a simple alt code. I reported it to Jagex when I heard of it first, before word was spread about it. I told them the code, and what happens and how it can be prevented for now by putting chats off. No more we can do but wait.

 

 

 

And yes, to the above poster. Several fan-related clan chats are being targeted by other people. I'd suggest for you to stay away from clan chats.

i dont want to bring WoW into this, but this sort of thing has happened in WoW (except crashing whole servers), yet apparently it did not warrant a rollback :S

I think this should warrent a rollback, the amount of people effected and losing items is inreasing rapidly, people are losing so much pking and in gwd, much more than was lost in the fally massacre. I'd take a bet at that.

If this doesn't warrant a rollback i don't know what does, quite a lot of items have been lost because of this bug. Pretty sure most people have realized and are turning all chats off/logging off.
