WIth mech scape just around the corner i was wondering what runescapes population will be,

 

Will it grow, as mech scape attracts a new audiance and then some people wanting to see what jagex's overgames are like?

 

or will it shrink, with players quitting runescape for mechscape because its "new".

 

Discuss your views and stuff.

The players will be splitted a bit more and after all the best game will be chosen.

 

So... More players will play Jagex games and who knows less players will play RS.

 

We don't know (execpt for a few screens on www.mechscapeworld.com) what Mechscape will look like so we can't tell you how many persons we expect to play that game rather then RS ;).

i doubt he will, i bet it'll use the same name system as funorb,meaning if you have a runescape/funorb account, you've got a mechscape name as well.

I'll take a look into Mechscape, I'll continue playing RS though. It all depends on how good Mechscape is, there will be a large influx to start I suppose and many people will leave RS for a bit but some will come back, some will stay. I think we will lose a small amount of players, but again, depends on if Mechscape is any good.

I seriously doubt that there will be a mass flock to Mechscape. There are some concepts in RS that are so successful that ultimately are not easily matched or overshadowed by other games. The diehard fans won't be leaving anytime soon thats for sure. As far as a potential new player base, I'm not as sure how this will pan out. Mechscape technically is keeping up with the times, the whole sci-fi thing is often what seems to be successful now adays. However, RuneScape's allure is something truly unique, so we could possibly see a balanced influx of players for both games (with possibly an early lead for Mechscape after its initial release and then evening out with RS over time).

While little is known about MechScape, Jagex did say they would be following the same nickname pattern on Mechscape, as Jagex did to Funorb and Runescape. That being, your account name is already reserved for use on Mechscape, and your friends list all already be loaded there, and you will be able to chat to your friends on your list across games from Funorb, to Runescape and to MechScape. So names already taken on Runescape, and Funorb, will not be available on MechScape.

 

 

 

But as for a mass Exodus...

 

Maybe the first week, a large number of people will leave to try it, some may like it, some may not. Runescape will be played less im sure (and not advertised as much) but as far as a noticeable amount of the player base leaving, I dont think things will change all that much.

i would make new names say if theres a item on mechascape like a rare i would make up names after them and take all the good names :twisted:

I think most players over level 100 will stay. That is good because the decrease of level 107-110 players will take a while.

Depends on the game, I don't really like Futuristic mmo's, if it's surprisingly fun, I'm sure runescape will see a small decline, but nothing to worry about, they will continue to grow, both games. Mods have said Mechscape is NOT another runescape type of game, so people will stay with runescape for that reason, maybe pay for both games.

I know it's about robots and sci-fi stuff. I am not saying the game is all bad, but it does not sound so good. And the name of the game don't give much hope of a good game either...

It will go up a bunch, then Jagex will release another update that people hate and we will drop lots of players, then repeat the process.

We have never been prevented to play more than one game.

 

I think the people that already play RS will try Mechscape and Play it/Quit RS or Play it and play RS. Also since it's a different kind of game than RS it will obviously attract a new audience that will discover RS and the RS "population" might increase.

 

 

 

In any case, I think the RS "population" will increase or there will be minimum changes.
