Here are some things I'd like to learn, any suggestions?

Do you believe these skills will always remain as rare as they are now?

 

 

 

The idea of self-made hibernation is from Bernard Werber's Ants- trilogy. (or that's where I picked it)

I don't know about those.. but with lip reading.. what about watching yourself talk in the mirror or watching people's conversations that you can only mildy hear and trying to understand what they're saying. Once you've gotten the hang of it and can understand completely what they're saying, try move a little bit further away and so on until they're out of hearing range yet you can see them still.. not too sure though, just a suggestion.

He's young. I'm sure there are training courses or something, too. I'm sure it's really hard. Imagine if you had to learn another language too. Plus, people move their mouths differently when they talk. I know I hardly move mine, since I drawl. You need a person who enunciates when they speak to read well.

 

 

 

I think it'd be useless to do any of those things. I have somewhat of a photographic memory, guess it's not as good as that pi guy. I'm better with remembering sounds than pictures. Or feelings. Lip-reading? Why? It'd be insanely hard if you weren't within hearing range, because how can you see their lips that well?

 

 

 

And hibernation...? Sleeping is a superpower now?

It's just a pretty pointless thing to want to learn given the difficulty and the complete lack of practical use if you're not totally deaf.

I'm pretty sure in completely deaf people, even then, the comprehension rate is 70% or so at the highest.

Lip reading I'm quite sure would be difficult, as people with different accents will move their lips differently.

 

 

 

As for eidetic, or "photographic" memory, it's just like watching a movie or seeing an array of photos in your head, though in full detail.

 

It is very possible for me to look at something in a hurry but not register it and then read off it in my mind later when I have the time.

 

 

 

I'm better with remembering sounds than pictures.

 

I'm absolutely terrible at remembering sounds. :P Someone can be talking to me and I might have forgotten what they said 15 seconds later (though I do go back and try to lip read off the memory, but I'm not too good at lip reading).

Although I may have lucid dreams,because sometimes my dreams are so realistic.I had one where I woke up,sent messages,received replies then went back to sleep.I know it was a dream because,if I wake up to send messages,I go have a drink and a piss.

Four dimensional? damn, mine is only 2 or 3 at best. But it is awesome. I want to try and draw a song, but my art skills are bad and they only make sense with movement. A static picture wouldn't work. But yea, I've got the same thing. Fast songs look awesome.

I don't know about dsavi, but for me it's just music, not so much voices or normal sounds.

I can't seem to visualize voices I'm used to (Like those of my family), but for strange voices or voices that stand out it's usually pretty clear.

Pre-cognative dreams can occur quite frequently. Your brain is always sub conscienciously remembering stuff. And when you sleep you may go over that thing... I've been recently been having various dreams which are incredibly realistic, I even remember the speech which I picutred in my head during the dream... These are recurring dreams, involving females and I often, wake up hugging my pillow, at worst... Kissing it. :roll: But I hope my most recent recurring one may come true, seriously it's a pretty awesome dream, (I know events leading up to it, The location, all conversations said, how it happens :P, and various other things.) Epic pre-cognition? I hope so.

All these things are pretty useless for flying people out of burning buildings and catching a robbed purse.

 

However, we could/can genetically modify human zygotes to express a certain superpower. I'm sure the research for it must not be advancing much because of the ethical issues that arise, but if a group of scientists worked on super strength they could potentially create a super strong baby. I know we can already make people that glow in the dark :shock:

They don't glow in the dark, they glow when exposed to a certain wavelength, really glowing in the light (like a blacklight). Although scientists can manipulate the GFP (green fluorescent protein) to react to whatever light and glow whatever color they wish.

 

 

 

We actually do have the potential to give people "superpowers." All that is needed is the right set of signals to cause a pluripotent cell (a cell that has not developed a specific function, a template, if you will) to grow into a specialized one of your choice, depending on the signals you give it. But that assumes that there is someone out there who has actually developed that kind of supercell to study and find the signals for. Right now the more practical application is finding all the signals for normal cells so we can cure genetic diseases.

 

 

 

And I'm trying to piece this together from a lecture that I don't have the notes from on hand, so I might not be 100% accurate. I'm pretty sure I have the general idea right.
