Magical Forest---elf (sort of ) girl inside--updeated!!1

Featured Replies

This piece is for a contest over on rsc, and I was going to wait to post it, but just taking a while and I hate sitting on work without showing it. So figured why not.

And yeah, it is not an elf, but how are you going to explain that in a title? lol.

It is a no reference work.

refined the hair, bank, neck, darkened face shadows, blended the hole in the tree in more, adjusted levels a bit, put new highlits on the body, shortened the arm as it was too long, put a shadow for the snake....etc. .

i only have one thing to say, WOW.

wow great job!

Wonderful!

The face needs a little work on shading, but still

Yes the face looks a little flat, but the rest is amazing! Might be better if the river/sky didn't match the colour of the elf so precisely, though.

absolutely wonderful, a piece of art :)

I'd say one of your best tttia.

I think your characters could use some work, but I think they're the hardest. But the background with the sname and the trees and the plants... ...stunning

I love it, Enough said.

that is awesome great work however i agree with exarch try to change the colour of the sky and water so it doesn't match the elf so much

lol, I think it looks more like a troll than an elf, but yes, this is awsome.

Its wondefull, no crits to give.

Great job!

The face could definitely do with some darker tones around the edge.

Otherwise, keep it up - by far your best yet. :)

Very nice, the face must have been the hardest to do, Ive never done any digital paints, so I dont know what alls involved, but I guess incorperating emotion into a pic must be Veeery hard...

Great work once again :D

I like it alot. I think the background could use a bit more darkness too. I like all the little details that you added, it really adds to the effect of everything. One of my favorites so far. Obviously if you wanted to I'm sure you could further refine the girl and her proportions, as they could be a bit off with the hips/thighs etc...

On a side note, I just got a new computer, and it's a [bleep]ing machine. Also, I'm working alot less now, and I'm starting college. So hopefully, we will see some more work out of me. I'm majoring in Computer Graphics, specifically 3D Animation.

Niiiice. Looking foward to it.

I'm loving it tttia. The background and character are excelent. I agree with the fact that her face looks a tad flat, but wow, very nice.

Also, yes, all the extra details added a ton into this piece. Like many, this may be my favorite work from you to date.

have u ever seen either.

the elf is awesoem! bg isnt that bad

Shadow for the snake makes it seem like the entirety of it's head and neck is an equal distance from the bank, while I presume it's head is farther away.

have u ever seen either.

Yes I have.

Ah ha! I think Ive put my finger on it....Okai, you may find this a bit time consuming, but I think it needs it... her head is way too long, like, if you were to put your thumb over her face and look at her hair and hair line, she would most likely be looking down, possibly at the log or summin...Soo, my suggestion is to chop off summa her hair from the rear, but I mean its still yours, and its all up ta J00 :D

I'm not going to nitpick about how I think it looks more like a dryad then an elf, I just want to say it's a really nice piece. I really like the attention you payed to the background.

I don't think so Tttia, but I have found a solution.... There is an open wireless signal that I can access from anywhere in my house, plus my dad setup an amplifier (or whatever it's called) to strengthen all the wireless signals... He intended to set it up so he could use his wireless outside... but I was snooping around and I found another signal, and it's insanely fast, and allows me to connect to tipit from home. I think last night I was downloading 40-50MB files at around 700kb/ps. Normally on my DSL connection split over 4 laptops/3 desktops I can only get like 50kb/ps max... so as you can imagine, I'm in heaven right now.

haha nice find...till they lock it down :)

Perhaps your best bet is to find who's it is and ask permission so they don't freak over unexpected activity.

I am thankful that my current dsl also runs at 700kb,....even though it is supposed to be 1.5 Mb, but I think our lines are lousy. And since we only have two or three computers running, and usually not more than two at a time, works fine. It has strong upload speeds too, which to me is more important since fast download with slow upload is not always ideal.

Oh and check out quest. They just sent us an offer to upgrade our speed at basically the same cost to around 5mb. That would be nice ...if only our lines would handle it.

Glad you are back with us :)

Our line is 1MB, but none of us get anywhere near that... In fact I don't know anyone who even gets within 50% of their line speed.... maybe an elite few...

Actually you're only meant to get roughly 10% of your line speed if you called it a megabyte per second because everyone makes that mistake (even the phone companies).

If you want to be technically correct you should call it mega bits per second. Because that's what it really is.

Say for example I've got a 256 kilobit (not kilobyte) connection, then I should technically download stuff at 25.6 kilobytes.

That's where people get confused, because everyone says they have a 1 megabyte connection or 512 kilobyte connection... but it's actually a 1 megabit connection and a 512 kilobit connection (because people always abbreviate it to mb and kb, that's where the confusion starts).

Note: I'm not really 100% sure on this, I read it somewhere, can't remember where but it makes perfect sense to me because I have a 256kilobit connection and I download at roughly 25kilobytes a second. :)
