What happened to Torstol?

Featured Replies

It's been fixed now by the looks of it... very strange though.

[hide=]I've been growing Torstol lately and in the past few days I've had trouble selling. There hasn't been much movement in the price until tonight:

Edit: As pointed out a few posts below, Grimy Torstol seems unaffected by this massive change; which suggests Clean Torstol's change is likely a bug.

Graph of Grimy Torstol:

Im not one who knows the GE in and out, but i don't think that drop is within normal drop range. I'm guessing it was done by Jagex manually, but i don't know why.

swordwarior.png

that's over a 90% decrease in one day

there's nothing that could have caused that normally

I think it's a glitch of some sort

I would report it and then wait before selling your torstol

There's no reason they would have left grimy alone and made clean plummet

Damnit, I tripped over Magzar's half inflated blow-up doll and hurt myself. I wish he wouldn't leave that thing lying around. -.-

Yes, I've held onto my herbs - sold my seeds right away though (which are still at a sensible price).

Edit: Where would be the best place to report said bug? Looking at the Bug Reporting section on RuneScape.com, there doesn't seem to be any section for or any mention of incorrect GE prices (if we can safely assume this was unintentional). :wall:

There's a board for it on the RSOF i think

other than that just go to other- and then miscellaneous

while i don't condone bug abuse, if you happen to be buying torstol for zammy brews, now might be the time to do so

Thank you. I suppose I'll do that tomorrow though, in the hopes that with the next GE update it might be straightened out.

If it's a bug, it will be impossible to buy them. If you're able to buy them, it is not a bug.

an item can't drop 90% in one day

and jagex wouldn't lower clean torstol, and leave everything else exactly the same, it makes no sense

It's obviously a bug of some sort, and your theory is only correct if you assume that no one put torstol on the g.e. today without noticing the bottomed out prices

Just something I thought of, perhaps Jagex is trying to fix the potion crisis (the fact that half the potion in runescape take hours to buy at max). The problem is with the high price of herbs, and the low price of potions, no one is making potions anymore. If they lowered the price of herbs to a decent price, people would start making potions again.

By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( .

Wouldn't the prices just skyrocket back up again?

I put in an offer at max, if anyone is actually getting any, feel free to post.

I've got to believe that the supply of these is very low. You have to be really high level to clean them. And those few who can clean them probably went ahead and got the levels to make the zammy brew. It's hard to imagine more than a handful of these getting cleaned by someone and then sold on the GE -- probably the cleaner would almost always make them into brews. Of course, none of this explains the weird price dip. Who knows what's going on there?

You can't infer that no one is making pots anymore from this evidence; it only shows that no one is willing to sell at these prices.

I think whoever updates the graph has to enter a numerical value to adjust prices, i think whoever did it in this case put 3 numbers instead of 4 as the numbers were very similar.

Anyway, it's fixed now. I'm gonna take a screenie of my offer though ;)

Well it wasn't just the GE graph. At the GE I saw that my offer was out of range so I went to update it and saw that ridiculous price.

My mate bought 16m of Torstol's at 320 each. He made 134m..borderline bug abuse?

I thought someone said they weren't being massively traded at there high prices, who would sell at that low. Also, how long was it like that for hiim to buy 16m of them. Sounds like a lie to me.

Hmm. I'll double check with him when he comes back on, lol. He said he'd bought 50k of them.

My mate bought 16m of Torstol's at 320 each. He made 134m..borderline bug abuse?

16m x 320 = 5,120,000,000

16m x 3877 = 62,032,000,000

so you're telling me he spent over 5 billion on 16m torstol, then sold those 16m torstol at the correct price (being around 3877 currently) and made 134m?

you're either an idiot who doesn't know how to do basic arithmetic, or a liar, or both

Edit: and before you say "no he bought 16m worth of torstol not 16m torstols"

16m/320 = 50,000

50,000 x 3877 = 193,850,000

193,850,000 - 16,000,000 = 177,850,000

so the math still proves you wrong

I think he meant that his friend bought 16mil's worth of it, not 16mil torstols...

EDIT: No its not at all bug abuse. It can be seen as price manipulation, then again he wasnt the one that forced it down that low. he is safe.

You know. There was an incident where I live where several gas stations had electronic failure, which set the price of fuel at 0.00,-

Many people saw this as an opportunity to stock up on gas and diesel, and are now being prosecuted by the law and if you ask me, they incriminated themselves, since you can't do something like that "on accident".

The same rule should apply.

And as always, people should treat dodgy experiences in the game with utmost caution and promptly report ones suspicions.

Or just be a [bleep] and make yourself a bug abuser over a few pathetic million.

Well, you can't really expect anybody to respect the natural order after so many people got away with the PvP glitch.

Yes. I guess it really is too much to ask players not to ruin the own game they play in.

Theres another saying that goes, "you don't crap where you sleep".

I think they stopped caring ages ago.
