Religion Wars

Remove it if its too racist/offensive, But i'm not posting it to be either of those, it's just supposed to be a bit of fun.

The scenario is simple, due to some major typo's by the world's religious leaders, EVERY world religion is at war with every other world religion.

There are no rules in this war, everybody hates anybody from other religions, your friend was catholic, your buddhist, well he isn't your friend anymore.

What happens to the Atheists, are you all going to join together and fight for your beliefs, or will you join a religion to save yourself?

Are you going to move to a more 'safe' country to join with your religions army, or will you right tooth and nail ot protect your home.

Don't forget the smaller faiths, scientologists may secretly hold some powerful positions remember.

The war is on.

Edit: So what would you do? What do you think would happen?

It depends, it this before or after the zombie apocalypse? Or during :ohnoes: ? It's like the zombie survival thread, but thinking humans... much harder to defend against.

Maybe this war started the zombie apocalypse :ohnoes:

Already in a heavily Catholic area, may not have to travel far...

I'd join up with the Catholics. We don't really hate on anyone, we help no matter what, and the rules aren't as strict as Christianity. That's why they need me to turn them into the Rambo of religions, instead of the Napoleon Dynamite.

Christianity has numbers and technology.

Islam has numbers, a lesser scale and amount of technology, but a stronger grasp and influence on it's followers.

It would be close in terms of infantry fights, but when you take into accounts planes, bombs, artillery, Nukes, ICBM's, WMD's, Christians would win before Muslims could even rally together.

Dizzle, I don't want to be offensive, but are you being sarcastic? Don't hate on anyone (Same as discrimination), less strict on rules? I assume you're aware of their position on Homosexuality, the position of Women within the Church, the rules such as Abstinence as the only method of birth control, Women not being allowed to be a significant part of the church, Homosexuals not having the right within the religion to be married. I really it find it contradicting predicting Catholicism as the "laid-back" Christian religion, yes there has been some great members of it before, but in general the church is run by a bunch of close minded conservative idiots. No offense meant.

Not sarcastic at all. Catholic religion is like Christianity's less uptight teenage son. First of all, we do not condemn other religions, we believe that you can get into heaven if you're good to people in general. Second, the Catholic Church doesn't try to own your life. You can pretty much do whatever you want as long as it's not at anyone else's expense.

With the number of islamic people we take in, in the north, we'll have changed from Protestant by the end of this century if things continue as they are.

Well, since I'm agnostic I'll join them i guess.

I must say, i have gotten interested in Christianity lately - in a historic perspective, not religious.

In all honesty, one of the only "churches" I know of that are actually open to every idea and person would be Unitarian Universalism. I don't know all that much about it but I have a friend who says it's cool, and it looks like it could be something interesting.

Yes, that is what the modern Catholic is like. The people leading the church though as I've already stated are nothing more than a bunch of conservative idiots who'd rather uphold the church's policies than see what is for the greater good of their followers. This pretty much proves that. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4081276.stm

Pope Benedict, who was elected to succeed John Paul II in April, has already signalled that he will maintain a strictly traditional line on issues including abortion and homosexuality
.

I have no problem with the average Catholic, but I certainly have a problem with the Church in general. Dizzle, I was raised Catholic, I live in a Catholic nation and I attend a Jesuit school, I don't need to be told what Catholics believe or what the Catholic religion is about.

Unfortunately you're right about that. Mostly the people leading the Church are more Christian than Catholic, which is why most people don't listen to them. My church is awesome. Once for a speech on the difference between good and evil, the priest brought in a life-sized manequin of Darth Vader  He played he song and everything.

Yes, once you go down lower in the scales there is quite a few good Catholics. The two Jesuit priests working in my school are the only religious people I see eye to eye with, one uses Simpsons quotes in his sermons more than Bible quotes to get his message across, the other puts so much time and effort into the school and local area (most impoverished area of Dublin) yet still remains the most relaxed and easy guy going, on a first impression you would probably expect him to be an intelligent Atheist, yet he delivers mass every day. If the Church had people like them running it, and started becoming more realistic, it would certainly appeal a lot more to younger generations and it wouldn't lose much dropping it's conservative and close minded attitude.

The orange plan - "ohshi-": We supply at the outfitter store down the street and then hall [wagon] to the Appalachian trail (however you spell it...) and make a camp in the wilderness, resupplying at stores along the way.

This is my plan from the words "Allah Akbar!". Hell, this is my plan for pretty much everything. Except maybe asteroids.

Also, and I'm not trying to grammar nazi or anything, but I love how you correctly spelled "Appalachian" but misspelled "haul". It's always funny to see that kind of thing.

I thought the far east was fairly religious, mainly buddhist :S

The Far East is mainly what's called "Triple Religion", which is a combination of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. The first two are really prominent in eastern China, but they're more on the philosophy side than the religion side (not like there's a big difference in the east), which is probably what the map takes into account.

Anyway, although I classify myself as a Christian (Protestant), I don't really like organized religion, so I suppose I'd hide out in Greenland or something.

Form/join a guerrilla atheistic or agnostic group and hide out somewhere in the mountains. Full out religious war is impossible, simply because all religions are intertwined together. I work or go to school with people ranging from atheists or agnostics to Catholics, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Judaists, and so on.

But if it were a long term escalation, where tensions grew and people moved into communities where only people of their religion were welcome, it could be possible.

Either way, I imagine in America, if this ever were to happen, Christians who are the majority here, would be the ruling class, and would oppress all minority religions (plus atheism). I don't think it would be just like a Christian kills all other religions on sight, but all others are second class citizens or are banned from practicing their religion. Anyways, I'd use guerrilla warfare to fight the religious state.

Thing is, Christianity has so many denominations that I doubt any would be able to get enough of a majority for that to happen. If that could have happened it would have, I think

Just means that it may be Christians fighting Christians and them being too busy to fight back against other faiths

Though I can try to take out WBC early on...
