Imageshack gone paranoid

i don't understand why they did this without first more widely publishing more information about themselves. i'm sure tons of people are trying to find out about them now, but they don't seem to have a site, and their name isn't unique enough to easily google

interested though.

Yea, the secret organization, hacking imageshack, and working on taking down certain companies, FORGOT TO ESTABLISH A DAMN SITE ABOUT THEMSELVES!@! :ohnoes:

Seriously, did you think before you posted that?

did you think before posting that?

they've just hacked one of the most widely used image hosting sites, replacing its images with their manifesto. probably millions of people have since seen their message, in which they sign their organization's name.

obviously they're not concerned with secrecy, but rather with spreading their ideals. (alternatively, read "bile" if you'd like)

They do have a website. http://romeo.copyandpaste.info/ (link contains language and stupidity).

These mouth-breathers are pretty much against the disclosure of software security exploits; they want to keep all their hacks to themselves and go around looking cool by messing with people's stuff and contributing absolutely nothing to improving security of software. Why they went after imageshack to spread their (stupid) message is beyond me. Most people aren't going to know what they're even talking about because of how esoteric the subject is and how poorly written their "message" is.

And to the poster two above, the picture that images were replaced with was http://imgur.com/wCaS0.jpg

interesting. perhaps imageshack simply has poor security.

Ok, so we both poorly worded something, call it even before one of us (probably me  ) messes up again? ;)

Nonetheless yea, imageshack was only to spread the word. It wouldn't make sense as a target in what they said.

I'm a little confused since my knowledge on hackers is limited. So a group of hackers hacked imageshack to protest... script kiddies stealing their programming? Kind of a weird thing to protest. But hacking a huge site like that was a good way to get the message across. Now probably every forum in existence of the internet has seen that picture over and over, most forums would probably have a discussion about it, and basically all of the internet would be watching to see what happens next. But think about it, they could have done a lit more damage if they had more evil intentions. What if they replaced everyone's image with, say, adult/gory images, or even illegal ones? Chances are thousands of people would have been banned from their respective forums and caused chaos all over the internet until people realize the images were hacked and the banned forum user was innocent.

This whole thing wouldn't per chance be related to the DDoS attack on 4chan, would it?

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

These hackers are against full-disclosure as it means that these script-kiddies are pretty much being given free scripts to use. The say that the whitehat hackers are using this fact to profit by selling their software saying it will protect you, even though this group has been going after these groups and hacking them, showing that they can't even protect their own site/server. I am with the blackhat hackers on this one. No this has nothing to do with the DDoS on 4chan.

If only it were measurable how many times 4chan got DDOS'd, or DoS'd in a year.

It is kind of scary how they infiltrated one of the largest image hosts on the internet, and how large the news was, not every day we get an internet spread dilemma. The things they could have put, and they put some rant that's not going to take form at all.

I'm a bit confused as to why people are taking a hit on imageshack, or saying they don't want to use them anymore simply because of this. It could of happend to any website like that. It just so happened to be imageshack. It wasn't their fault.

Wow what a waste of a hack. i could think of a 100 images to put on every forum instead of this.

4chan got ddos'ed!? how did that happen. whoever did it will regret it if the /b/tards find out them.

I thougt a website like 4chan would get DDoS'ed daily? :?

They've been DDoS'd a few times, it's not new. :?

I missed everything including the point, can anyone tell me what the cryptic code of http://ec.mashable.com/wp-content/uploa ... ckhack.gif means?

Anti-Sec. We are a group who want people to stop telling everyone how to exploit something in the hopes that the vendor fixes it. We hacked imageshack to spread the word.

Full-disclosure is telling people about an exploit - to anyonone. The security industry uses this to profit and to scare people into buying their stuff.

Meanwhile, kiddies copypasta the exploit and then use them to hack what the people want fixed. If good hackers were truely interested in scurity they would tell the company directly instead.

Did we mention that the exploit is copypasta'd >9000 times on the internet with the crew adding in ads about them.

It's all about money. Which the world is hard to change money will stay as an important thing, out battle is to make this profiting harder with full disclosure.

We will use what we need to so that we get our message across.

We plan to do this through an unrelenting assault on those who support this or aid in it's survival. If you're a target they will remove your site, it's a matter of time.

This time, nobody is safe.
