Games You Think Should be Movies

Featured Replies

Lenin I managed to actually rent that movie and it wasn't a Blue Ray, so not sure what you're talking about haha. It's not the greatest thing in the world but was pretty decent, and really bloody.

Nadril, half life based around freeman would be a bit bad, but if they based it on the other characters, much like the 'Escape from city 17' youtube vid, it could turn out to be pretty good tbh.

My point is what made the game so great was that you were stuck to knowing what Gordon new. It wasn't like some games where you'll get cutscenes and see all sort of stuff the main character wouldn't know. I just think that a Half Life movie could never live up to the game. The fact is if a game is telling it's story right it shouldn't be able to be made into a movie. (Look at braid, it would be downright impossible to convey it in a movie. Like, literally)

A Dead Space horror film would be great.

You mean like the one they already made? The one I'll never see because it's only on [bleep] Blu-Ray? But yea, one based on the game itself could work, except most of the game is "go over and get this, watch out for creepy [cabbage]".

I forgot about the anime movie.

FFVII: the weapons, FFVIII: Getting all the GF's, FFIX: Ozma, FFX: the monster arena. All side quests although the last fight of FFVIII was about the most epic one.

I thought 7's sidequests were more about the Materia and 10 was about weapons. But anyways, you're right. The aspect that drew people into video games was that it's interactive - you can go on quests, find different methods of killing monsters, and solve puzzles. When it comes to video games, personally speaking, the storyline wasn't really one of my biggest priorities. If the gameplay was good, then I liked it. The story was really just a little extra thing to keep you motivated to play through it.

By weapons I meant Ruby or Emerald weapon.

Runescape. They made a book, so why not a movie?

I've never read the book so I don't know if its good or not.

Because it would probably turn out to be like Eragon. Plus, there isn't enough detail to the game to make it look decent IMO. Just go to YouTube if you want RS "movies".

Unfinished netherrack symbol of Khorne.

Never forget. ~creeper face w/single tear~

DO YOU HEAR THE VOICES TOO?!?!

A Dead Space horror film would be great.

You beat me to it. They announced they're developing a movie for it. The monsters are so awesome-looking that they alone are enough to scare the [cabbage] out of your [wagon]. If they could just replicate the feeling of the game (you know that feeling when you walk into a room with blood everywhere, and heaps of vents. The the quarantine goes off :ohnoes:) then it would be a 5/5 movie for me. If they release it next year sometime, I'll be able to go and see it (I'll be 15 :D).

I dont need a siggy no moar.

The Warcraft movie they're working on could be epic if done correctly. And... if it's like, ever released, I guess.

They'vereleased like one screen and nothing else. D:

Possibly some of the GTA series, and Assassin's Creed could make decent films.

What I want to see is a Warcraft movie and a brand new Final Fantasy movie that hold up by itself. Blizzard has enough lore for Warcraft that they can do anything they want with it, and it wont just be filled in with CG. Final Fantasy games themselves have always just felt like interactive movies anyway.

A movie could never fully capture a FF game. Take FFXII for example. You can play through the main story and it is rather boring, grinding some, fighting bosses, and beating the final boss. Then you have the side quests, all the different marks, the hell wyrm, the sky pirates den. Now the real meat of the game lies with the marks. Now in two hours we all know they'd focus on the main story. While fights with the hell wyrm or Yiazmat were the real epic parts about that game. This is one example but all FF games are like this. FFVII: the weapons, FFVIII: Getting all the GF's, FFIX: Ozma, FFX: the monster arena. All side quests although the last fight of FFVIII was about the most epic one.

If your playing a FF and your bored with the main story, your doing it wrong. If you only played FFXII then I understand you don't see there being much to a FF movie, as FFXII had a boring main story that was all political. In truth a FF movie that was not made from any of the original games could work. If you played one of the more story intensive ones like FFIV, FFVI-FFIX then you would realize that there is a helluva lot to the main story line. The movie would just have to be like those in terms of story.

(SE made FFXII with a tonne of side quests to help appease the Western RPG style where you go around and do what ever you want. More traditional J-RPG's are more linear)

One that would be really weird, but I'm sure there is room for a great story is Shadow of The Colossus. The original game had a lot to interpret as your own. Plus the Colossi could make for some great battles.

The only FF game I haven't played was FFIII because it was for Japan only/I don't have a DS, and the other ones associated with the NDS, and FFXI. I'm not saying the story isn't good, i'm saying it wouldn't make a good movie.

Bioshock would be interesting.

FEAR would be one hell of a horror film if done right.

Silent Hill 3 could make an amazing horror film, young female hosiptals, cults and strange freaky creatures. Silent Hill the movie was questionable as it didn't go deep enough into a solid story line.

Resident Evil 4 was pretty different in terms of zombies and would be interesting as would the resident evil game which had the zombie zoo animals.

Dead Rising if only they could do it without getting done for copying Dawn Of The Dead.

HL2 anyone?

MGS would be awesome at least with 1 and 2 (3 was a bit questionable in terms of film conversion and I've not played 4).

There more, but I can't think of them atm.

  • Dragon Axe x11
    Berserker Ring x9
    Warrior Ring x8
    Seercull
    Dragon Med
Dragon Boots x4 - all less then 30 kc
    Godsword Shard (bandos)
    Granite Maul x 3

Solo only - doesn't include barrows[/hide][hide=Stats]

joe_da_studd.png[/hide]

If they do MGS then it would have to be about 3 as it doesn't rely on a backstory.

MGS3 IS the backstory.

I am still raging that Bioshock is unlikely to make it to the big screen

Yep :wall:

I was going to put that, but I think I decided against posting it. But I was thinking more of a high-budget miniseries. Intro episode (so you know what's going on and why Milo (my name for him) went to the end of the world), 16 UNBELIEVABLY EPIC battles, and then the finale where the priests come and kill him. Maybe even an anime (it feels like it would work... but idk I don't watch anime).

I'm also going to throw the Metroid Prime Trilogy into the mix. It would definitely be more of an action movie than an adventure film. Not sure how well it could work, though...

Keep ideas flowing ::'

I was playing prototype the other day, and I was thinking it would be good for a movie. The basics of the storyline aren't complicated, it has a nice twist, and I'm sure it could be condensed into 2 hours of film. Alex would have to be a bit less of a [bleep] otherwise no one would like the movie, though.

Bioshock

Halo

Gears of War

possibly a left 4 dead?

A l4D film would just be a zombie movie. I don't think valve's way of telling the story works for film anyways.

TF2 movie. 8-)

That would totally work out awesome, because of the epic storyline....
