Good question!

 

I use a thin spheric Electro-magnetic field that works at a strenght and frequency that disallowes objects to enter or exit unless fluctuations caused by tech inside the shielded object or entering object.

 

EM is a cheap metod of almost everything and does not require as moch power as the alternatives(if there are any).

Also using naquadah in the electro-magnet itself alows it to generate a strong force-field without the need of much power.

Mather I am going to explain 4 things to you

A~ Naquadah would not exist. period end of story no exceptions.

B~ Even if it did exist it would not be able to amplify electricity with any efficency ( e=mc2)

C~ You never said you were researching force fields it just came up out of the blue with no set time-table as does the vast majority of your projects it would seem.

D~ Its an electro magnetic field to the best of my knowledge it would simply attract the railgun round into the ship and if anything cause more damage.

A~ You cannot disprove its actual existance and therefore it should be allowed in a sci-fi themed game.

B~ If it was more than super-conducting it could use external heat in the opposite manner of how normal conductors generare it.

C~ You really must look through the previous version more closely and that few you find no refferance to me starting were made in the transferance period.

D~ Electro-Magnetic fields are not always atracting metal, gravity is one kind of magnetism that atracts everything, there have been made real magnets capable of detracting(?) objects.

Mather, once again, your metal break the laws of energy conservation. And how would you keep an electromagnetic shield in place. It would also black out all communications with the rest of the world, and make it so most electronics wouldn't work. Plus the whole idea doesn't make sense.

Electro magnetic fields do not distrupt signals or electrical equipements, electro megnetic pulses does.

The actual translation e=mc2 is Energy=Mass x Constant (The speed of light in a vacuum) squared.

I don't give a damn about the SAC, it cannot create 150 tons of tungsten (Actually a lot more considering a ship would be a lot larger than that) that easily.

I'm cancelling all research at the moment replacing it with nanotech (15 yrs) funding ALOT into this 60 billion to be exact.

I did not state I was more intelligent than you, only that I was geekier and more able to understand their(although not your) thinking. And I know how momentum relates to energy as it is the same as kinetic energy, but the relativity theory uses only the consistancy of light through vacuum and it does still not answer what energy equals in other forms.
