Before I get into this and find myself allied with Hex vs the rest of the universe, can someone please give me a rundown of how exactly this works? Sorry if I r noob, never done anything like this before :oops:

Basically you just run a country (or a planet in the new thread) however you want to. 1 day = 1 year in game, so you base your tech off that.

Like, a new super-duper plane won't take a year to research, it'll take much longer. Just read for a bit and get a feel for how the game works.

A short while after supreme ruler of the world Fastortoise was tragically killed in an accident involving a cloned T-rex and a few satellites, one man with a vision came to rule Iran through unknown means. After expanding Iran’s territory into two neighbouring countries, He renamed his nation Aether, who was the Greek god of the upper air, space, in a way. This was a rather fitting name, considering Aether’s future. The ruler of Aether began to show a keen interest in mechanical labour and artificial intelligence. Whether he had actually ever seen the Terminator movies is still unknown to this very day.

 

The kingdom of Aether, being the most advanced country in the world in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence, came to realise that they no longer appreciated the human form. Millions of years of evolution for something which was, in their eyes, substandard compared to these machines.

 

They decided that it needed to be changed, and thus began the grand conversion, where everyone in the kingdom would have their mind uploaded into a machine. They dubbed themselves ‘Mechos’ and began to look towards the stars for a new homeworld. After a few years of searching they located a system which was relatively isolated and perfect to begin anew (This was the Sega-Res system), so they began to transfer every Mechos possible to this new system, specifically the planet Zypherius, where a city was slowly being built for them.

Eventually, the Japanese Empire seized upon the opportunity to unify with Britannia and so the Britannian Empire was born. Immediately, an advanced space program was put into action with a small fleet emerging quickly. Hey all, this is a remake of the Tip.It Hegemony Thread. The author of the original thread left, and we all decided it would be beneficial to start a new thread, so that we can control the first post, and keep it updated with maps and the like. Once again mods, dont lock this, the original Hegemony thread will be gone now that no one is posting in it.

 

That being said, Ill explain the basics of the game.

 

This is a text based strategy game, similar to some roleplaying games. The biggest difference is that you control an entire nation/empire, instead of a single person. When the game started, players were given a choice of any country on Earth. Now, all those countries have been captured or claimed, but that doesnt mean you cant join. Weve reached a point where faster than light space travel is possible. You still have to respect all laws of physics though.

So, for new players, here are your options.

1: Post on the thread, saying you want to be humans. A random solar system will be generated, and you will start as a colony of 10 million humans, with better than average technology.

2: Post on the thread, saying you want to be aliens. You should also make your race. Races may not be overpowered, and its nice if you include a drawing. Try to not just steal one from a TV show or movie. Well generate a system for you; with a starting planet type of your choice (explained more later) that fits your race.

 

Here are the basic rules of the game:

1: 1 day in real life=1 year in game time. As of the 3rd of December 2009, the game year is 2143.

2: Be as realistic as possible.

3: If youre quitting, dont launch all your weapons and try to mess everyone else up. Your posts will be ignored if you do this.

4: Research takes time and money.

5: No unbeatable superweapons.For now, no fallout inducing weapons, or nuclear fission based weapons.

 

 

 

They way faster than light travel works is this:

It takes 1 year to speed up to max speed, and 1 year to slow down. You cant go within .5 lightyears of a system while in warp speed, without being destroyed by the gravity. So, if you were traveling 10 lightyears, it would take 1 to speed up, .2 years at warp speed, and 1 to slow down, so 2.2 years total. For 100 lightyears, it would be 1 to speed up, 2 at warp speed, and 1 to slow down, so 4 years total.

The basic formula to find out how long it will take is: (X-2)*24)/50

X being the number of lightyears you want to travel. The result will be in real life hours.

Earthlike-

 

Earthlike planets are planets which are abundant with life, they

have an even distribution of water and land, and a varied

ecosystem of plants, insects and animals.

This is the planet type most new races and civilizations start on.

Dangers are the same as that on Earth.

 

 

Rocky (Previously mountainous)-

 

Rocky planets are very mountainous, with only small lifeforms and

very little plant matter. They contain a lot of minerals and

other resources.

Rocky planets are very prone to earthquakes and landslides.

 

 

Desert-

 

Desert planets are much the same as rocky planets in that they

contain an abundance of natural resources. They have a very harsh

environment, and not many plants or animals can live here.

Desert planets usually have a lot of sandstorms, which limits

colonisation ability for some races.

 

 

Aquatic-

 

Aquatic planets are 90% underwater. They are very suited for

specific races and hard for anyone else to colonise. They have

a lot of chemical based resources, and a diverse ecosystem of

amphibians, fish and plant life.

Aquatic planets are liable to maelstroms and hurricanes.

 

 

Paradise-

 

Paradise planets are perfect. They are also very rare.

They have a stable atmosphere, a diverse, stable

ecosystem, and just the right temperature.

Paradise planets do not have any disasters.

 

 

Minor volcanic-

 

Minor volcanic planets are hot. Not so hot that things will

instantly melt, but the temperature is quite cruel to those

who are not prepared. Some races may be well suited to these.

They have a small ecosystem of heat-resistant animals and

plants.

Hazards come in the form of volcanoes and magma below the surface.

 

 

Major volcanic-

 

Major volcanic planets are hot. Very, very hot. A human would

fry before even touching the surface. They have no life due to

the extreme temperature. They may contain rare minerals, if you

have the guts to go and look for them.

Major volcanic planets are incredibly dangerous to almost all races.

 

 

Minor arctic-

 

The land on these planets is covered with snow and ice, and a lot

of the water is frozen. There is usually a small ecosystem of

cold resistant plants and animals, and there are pockets of

chemical and mineral resources dotted about them.

Arctic planets are very prone to Blizzards.

 

Major arctic-

 

These planets frequently drop to absurdly low temperatures,

which would freeze a human solid in seconds. they are very

dangerous, but may have some rare and valuable chemical

resources, if you would dare to search them out.

Major arctic planets are almost inhospitable to most races.

 

 

Tiny planets-

 

Tiny planets are small planets that can't maintain an atmosphere.

They have no ecosystem, and cannot be terraformed. They can make

good system outposts, and may contain various minerals.

 

 

Gas giants-

 

Gas giants are huge balls of dust, ice and rocks. They may

contain huge amounts of chemical resources, but cannot be

terraformed and are only colonisable with orbital stations. [/hide]

The King promised that all of Ireland would again be reunited, and the IRA's violence would be quashed. Diplomats were sent to the United Kingdom, which accepted another Treaty of Union and effectively formed the nation known as Britannia. The King then became King John III of Britannia and relocated the position of power to London.

 

A period of intense militarisation began when Germany formed the Fourth Reich and invaded most of continental Europe, along with their secret ally, Russia. However, the Germans decided to not invade Britannia and Bulgaria, eventually forming an alliance with the two nations later down the road.

 

Britannia gained Canada via a treaty in North America.

 

After World War IV ended (nations that retaliated after the German invasion), Britannia co-founded a large alliance called the New World Order. This alliance shared technology among its members and promised mutual protection. After nearly losing its African colonies, Germany was convinced to sign a treaty (Treaty of London, 2048) that granted a guarantee that it would halt aggressive expansion altogether.

 

A short period of time after World War IV, the Eurasian Alliance was formed, and Britannia joined this alliance as well due to its belief in world peace. Rapid expansion and military growth continued, however.

 

The Japanese Emperor later ceded his land to the Britannian Empire with the terms that 1) Their citizens would retain their way of life, 2) The Japanese Emperor would ascend to the Throne of Britannia some day, and 3) The lands owned by the Japanese Empire would become known as the Republic of Britannia. The Japanese emperor became known as Lord Albert of the Eastern Dominion. King John III accepted these terms, which effectively ended absolute monarchy and heavily strengthened the Britannian Empire's military and gave it an enormous amount of land and wealth.

 

Later on, there were disagreements over Britannia's annexation of New Zealand, which was resolved in a treaty that ceded the land to Russia. Britannia developed a huge space programme and created the HMS Pax Britannica, one of the largest starships in existence (and one of the most powerful). Using its space fleet, Britannia colonised a world in the Sega-Res system known as Britanniae.

 

Due to the space programmes of other countries, the Britannian government bought land that was once owned by Aether and Burma/Cambodia.

 

Today, Britannia's diplomatic relations with the rest of the world has been steady, despite a few crises that nearly erupted in wars. It continues to be one of the most powerful (and albeit successful) empires that the world has ever known.[/hide]

Anyways, my ships are going to shuttle people to Orijike and Zypherius.

I'm also going to produce Helios orbs to defend that system, and continue to produce Exeos ships to speed up the movement.

Machines that require no food or water, only energy. The mind is made up of two parts, the human mind, and a secondary AI. The AI takes control if the human mind is in a state of panic, overwhelming fear, or the mechos body is low on energy. The advantage of not needing life support means my ships cost a lot less, and take less time to produce, but it also means my people are rather weak to heat based weaponry.

Iceland is a nation that was liberated through a peaceful revolutionary means from Europa, now known as the Terran Federation, 10 years ago. Iceland has since joined the EA and begun work on multiple diverse projects and, with some generosity from various nations, has prospered. One of these projects is the currently being built New Hope Space Station, which will become the capital of what will be known as Napta. This station will be based in the Asteroid Belt of the Sol system, and then Iceland will be known as a colony of Napta.

Kamino condensed history:

 

Kamino started out as the nation Luxembourg. In 2009, Luxembourg decided to get a little expansive, and took over Vatican City. Many were displeased by this, angering many nations, mostly Italy. Months went by over the dispute, but in the end Luxembourg had conquered and controlled Vatican City. Less than half a decade later, Italy was stricken by disaster. Vatican City ordeered that all Catholics donate money to the cause of gelping out Italy. As time progressed, Luxembourg stretched it's reach to Africa with the annexation of Zimbabwe. With the Catholic power behind the, The Luxembourgers swept through Africa picking up Mozambique. Many treaties were signed along the way, including pacts such as COIN and Euro Union. More time passed and Congo was added to the Luxembourg collection. Skipping a few years, after Belgium had been annexed, France was next on the list, with tricky negotiations. Just before France signed themselves over, Germany declared war on the world, with the power of Russia to back the Eastern front. A hasty escape was made, and years of tech was lost. France was left in rubble, and millions died.

 

Luxembourg has since gone through a civil war, abolishing religion entirely. The new look of the nation needed a new name to match the new personallity. Kamino was then born. Kaminoans are still human, but they are now cloned and sterilized. They are exceptional human beings, designed for specific tasks. Mars and Zhoreuc have since been colonized thanks to the cutting edge development of the space explorer, TerrAvenger.

 

Of course there was other stuff, but that's the gist.

Rather than take up arms with the neighboring balkan nations, Bulgaria remained neutral, and began to spend much of it's manpower towards various fields of research. This led to Bulgaria being the #1 in medical technology, and also responsible for the famed nanosuit. Eventually, Bulgaria joined the Eurasia alliance. Several planets in the Ohan system have been successfully colonised by Bulgaria. Although Bulgaria has not shown much aggression previously, this once quiet nation may prove much deadlier than anticipated. With the aquisition of several planets, Bulgaria has changed its name to "The Combie".[/hide]

Upon the declaration of the Hegemony, the Republic of Taiwan was seized, by penguin (there are penguins in Taiwan, apparently) as part of the rush for power. As alliances quickly formed, Taiwan briefly joined forces with India in the SAC. Within years, the Philippines were seized diplomatically, while a military invasion was needed to conquer Borneo. (In this invasion, the people of Malaysia were liberated to their good leader grimdeath) As part of the peace treaty with Indonesia, Taiwan gained control of nearly all their islands. A long period of peace and severe isolation followed, which did include the secession of all territories, except for Taiwan. However, after 25 years or so, the period of isolation was over, and Taiwan joined the NWO. Since then, Bhutan, Nepal, Brunei, Singapore, East Timor, Nauru, Palau, Samoa, Tonga, Kiribati, Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands, and almost all other Pacific islands have joined the Republic, whether by peaceful means, or the use of military.

Defenses have been built up strongly, with fortresses and bunkers throughout the RoT, as well as the development of automated turrets and improvements to the navy. Technological efforts culminated in the past year with the launch of the first Taiwanese space ship capable of FTL travel, and with a capacity of a few thousand.

Taiwan still rather strictly maintains a policy of peace and isolation. It's main involvements in wars has been providing a place of safety for refugees.
