I'm pretty sure that those things were far far far weaker than their ancient equivilants. Or at least he made them that way.

You say tomato...He says potato....There is a slight difference.

Point is that I could say I am researcing...I don't know, Neutronium as a new power source, then once I have got my 3 week long research project done it becomes a star killer and uber armour....Saying one thing and meaning something else is what this game seems to be all about(Yes I understand the Irony of my typo on Alpha Centuri, please dones't point it out)

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

So should we start up that new game? Everything starts up better on the weekends.

Lol, good plan, lets start something on a sunday after a massive fight...I think not. Lets plan this out and try to launch a good game, rather than one full of holes like Centuri was.

Well why don't you post what you think the rules should be, then we can discuss. We need a framework ya know.

Cos rules were never my strong suit...I am much more into exploiting the loop holes...so if I wrote the rules I would fill them with loopholes which I could exploit, as well as finding more which I could exploit later.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

You'd be playing as random events and pirates, so you couldn't exploit anything.

Well, a basic framework of rules could be:

1. First you choose two technological specialties

Air power (France)

Surface Naval (Britain)

Amphibious (Japan)

China (Land)

Etc Etc

Each of those specialties could have a special unit of that kind. For example, maybe France has a unique kind of fighter, while China has a special kind of tank.

2. Then you could start claiming countries. I don't think France should have such large territory without some deficits, so maybe France could be in the midst of a civil war, where Greater France, Germania, Italy, and Austria-Hungary were separate nations. China could be split into Han, Qin, etc etc.

--------------

After all that is done, people receive population based on their land area. The flip side to this is that the larger your land area, the more negative random events affect you (famines, plagues, drought, revolt). So be careful how much you start the game with. If you expand slowly in low population areas, then you'll be less at risk.

The British empire could also be fracturing, and China could be in a state of civil war as well.

I'm just trying to say that it wouldn't be fair for someone to take a large empire like China and say that it defeats all other countries because it is bigger. Which is why I added the fact about a larger population but greater risk from random events.

I think we already have something here Arch. We could just start, and you could moderate the stats of people's empires in case they are too far fetched.

Nah, I just get accused of being biased and then the game implodes. I think that if we are going to do it everyone needs to agree to take my word, or someone elses word, as defacto truth, even if they don't agree with it.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

No one really accused you of being biased on Hegemony. It was only when you became a ridiculous dictator on Alpha Centauri when that happened. If you played as a moderator and random events, everything will be fine.

The one game I chose not to moderate and I am accused of moderating it badly....Go figure.

In any case I am taking a break because the Tavern has pretty much screwed my sleeping pattern and the arguments have made more more tightly wound than I thought it possible for me to be...added to that I have a general apathy just now because the whole thing looks too fragile and I just need to back off and let stuff become fun again.

, Atlantis, Particle Magnums, Puddlejumpers and Tel'taks they all took at least 5 years(Particle Magnum) and up to twenty(Atlantis),

So between 5 and 20 years to build the technology of the ancients... Please. And 20 years to build a giant floating city ship with forceshields galore seems a bit excessive...don't you think.

Particle Magnums were actually made by the Travellers, a race equal to what humans would be if we went all out on spacecrafts. And tel'taks and rings are goa'uld.

Also Atlantis' shields took nearly ten years, and were made after the completion of the city itself, just like drones

Atlantis itself was made in parts; Foundation, buildings and electric systems. 5+10+5 years, and then five or more years later I started making shields and other technologies for it. Altogether Atlantis isn't completly finished yet, only functional.

I kept changing this post to try and stop myself from posting pictures of other users and comparing them to Hitler or Stalin. Lulz.

Anyway, If we are to start in.... 2009, or whenever could we please play out our own history instead of having our own sort of made up.

What I was thinking is that if we had a map and then started from there, creating culture as we go.

I also think that we shouldn't have country names pre-made, what if we want to choose our own. Aswell as that we shouldn't have borders in our map.

Edit: And sorry, I like 1900's a lot.

No borders? That would make it incredibly difficult. What I was saying before is that someone who claims a big country should have negative random events pertaining to its large size.

Well it would stop people from claiming super large countries and saying they are undefeatable. It also gives options for the peaceful player.

By Doom.... Who isn't here.

Aswell as that, you can't really ban someone from a thread. I've tried to do it before but I realised that it wouldn't work for two reasons.

1) its a forum, thats how forums work. If people don't agree or whatever there is no point on anything.

2) its not like you can do much.

And aswell as that, I think Doom has left anyway so... yeh.

And Retech, I agree but having a big country doesn't make you powerful, its having a large military. People can freely take parts of your country as they wish if they have a larger military.
