Raw materials likely to crash ?

Featured Replies

Are raw materials likely to crash in the speculated "summer crash" or are they considered stable throughout this.

I am looking for ppl's opinions on this matter.

Raw materials, are tihngs such as herbs and ores.

Items expected to crash rarely crash as much as expected, and those expected to rise do the same. I doubt there will be any big impact on the raw material market simply due to seasonal change.

I don't see any dramatic changes in prices. Maybe items such as pure essence would go up a few gp due to not as many players gathering it. But like I said before, it won't change much because of how much of it is already in the Grand Exchange or runecrafters banks. But that's just my opinion concerning one particular item

DamageIncTag.png

No Idea, I have money ready to spend once I feel prices are fair, right now its all gone haywire, green hides are up over 100gp per than that what they had been 30 days ago.

Herblore now costs 35m more for me personally than what it used to I'm not willing to pay it but no I don't think theyll go any lower.

I hope so, because Addy Bars have gone up like 400 or 500 each. Considering I need 69k to go from 88-99 with SC Hammers, that's an extra 30m or so. Luckily, I got my Prayer off 1.3k ea Dragon Bones.

The only way that raw materials can actually dive is if people started harvesting them en masse. It's unlikely that we'll see hundreds of thousands of people at Aviansies or cutting Yews for quite some time, so I don't think that there will be a crash of raws anytime soon.

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

If anything, with less people playing at the end of the summer, they're will be less raw matierals coming into the game, so wouldn't the price go up?

Really hard to tell, generally after summer people still harvest them but theres no real demand to buy them.

But yeah I need a tonne of addy bars, oak planks, vials and seconds + hides, and currently even money I've earned over past 12 months isnt sufficient enough which is kind of annoying as I don't really get luck at big monsters lol.

Hmm, the idea that less ppl playing will mean less ppl collecting so a rise will come, can be looked at from the other side. Less ppl playing, lesss ppl buying, so prise drops.

I am currently sat on about 100m worth of herbs, and about 15 mill in seconds. I cant bring myself to use them, because next week they might be half the rpice, but i cant bing myself to sell because i know i will regret not using them if i do.

I think durring school months prices of everything generally go up more so then down becuase the kiddies have less time to play. But i also think it kinda will balance it self out becuase there will be less kiddies buying levels so in the end prices might not change all that much but a little rise in price.

In my opinion the only reason there's going to be a summer crash is because everyone believes there is a summer crash. If no one made a big deal of it, items would drop a tiny bit from the quitters and stabilize. But no, everyone has to freak out and make a big deal out of the predicted summer crash, telling everyone who will listen and explaining the crash as though they are experts on economics. It's these people that are the cause of the "crash" and not the people who actually quit at the end of the summer, they just gave everyone a reason to freak out.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

If you all haven't noticed already, the rs economy is very predictable. As most of you could tell, whatever the majority of us say, goes. Therefore, with this logic, we should all spread a rumor that there will be a giant crash in September due to less demand, and it will happen!

EDIT: Basically what Warren said.

That's actually the plan behind it, currently.

Only problem is merchants will likely buy up the items making the "crash" short-lived. Things are rarely as severe when expected to happen. I doubt merchants would collaberate as a whole to let the items fall enough before they buy them up. Personally, I'm already buying items to train some of my buyable non-cb stats.

so true it works like wall street more confidence more overall gains less confidence more panic for crashes

The game haha you lose

personally i think rares are more likely to "crash" than any raw materials

Panic sellers are worse to the economy than Merch clans and 76k >.<

I think things will just go back to their usual prices.

No. Less people playing, or playing less often, means less demand and supply. I wouldn't think many people would sell everything because school statrs, especially in this inflating economy having your bankworth in cash is a stupid idea.

But not everybody is aware/knows about how the economy works, or about inflation.

We have so many rising/lowering prices threads here we should add it to the subjects that belong in Marketplace where such questions would be more at home.

I'm not going to call myself an expert in economics, but I will say I'm very knowledgeable in the subject (I'm finishing up my degree in it this year).

No one can tell you for sure what's going to happen. We don't have any hard, raw data... all we can do is speculate.

Here's what we can assume safely... knowing that the number of players will drop once school starts:

-Supply will drop

-Demand will drop

-quantity of raw materials in the game WILL drop

What we do not know:

-whether the price will drop

If the drop in supply (e.g. fewer miners to mine coal) is larger than the drop in demand (e.g. fewer smithers to buy the coal), the price of raw materials (e.g. coal in this case) will RISE.

If the drop in demand is larger than the drop in supply, the price of raw materials will DROP.

Or, the prices might not change at all... if the drops in demand and supply are roughly equal. So again, no one knows what's going to happen... like I said, we can only speculate. It will be interesting to see what happens, that's for sure!

I'm pretty sure they'll be stable. There might be a slight decline but I highly doubt a crash.

Before, we did see (through not a large crash) items going down on price, as most people will have less time to play, however, with the PVP Tricking flooding Rs with millons of rsgp each day, I highly doubt that.
