Back in June, we announced that Jagex has been shortlisted for the Golden Joystick Awards as one of the UKs top developers. We were really touched to see Jagex recognised in this way by the gaming community and shocked by the fantastic response from our players (who crashed the voting website when we released the newspost). This post is just to say that the poll closes at the end of this week, so if you wish to vote for Jagex and have not yet done so, this is your last chance!

 

If you dont know anything about the awards and still want to show your support for Jagex, you can do so by visiting the Golden Joystick website at www.goldenjoystick.com and clicking on the UK Developer of the Year listing on the Vote Now page. We also recommend that you un-tick the preference boxes if you dont wish to be contacted by the organisers or any third parties.

Well, obviously the other participants use that technique so JaGeX has to use it too to keep up with them :unsure:

It seems like a huge thing, so I dont get what the problem of advertising it is, they arent the only ones advertising it.

If I had known about Golden Joystick without Jagex' informant headline, I would have voted on my own. However, I had no clue about this award, and with Jagex' help I was able to vote.

 

Honestly, what's so wrong about advertising something to get an upper hand. Blizzard spams World of Warcraft commercials on T.V. and flings their advertisements all over the internet. However, I don't see you complaining about how they advertise. There is nothing wrong with trying to win.

And btw, Runescape is the most popular MMORPG ever made. It's not just 12 year old kids. Judging by the players that I have met, they most certainly are not 12 years old. Think before you stereotype, mister. :shame:

It must be because I'm F2P then. I guess I haven't experienced what it's like to be in the "update ranters" crowd.

 

Personally, I don't really care about what updates Jagex gives us. As long as they give us a good, playable game, I'm happy.

 

Btw, things like Free Trade and Old Wilderness were removed, because of RWT. Jagex has no choice there. If they followed the community, then Runescape will be ruined for good.

Valve biased :shock:. Nah, Valve are awesome. But I voted for Dead Space as best Xbox game of the year. My favourite game of all time.

 

I also voted for Jagex, I don't see what's wrong with informing players about the awards. I missed the first newspost anyways, so it really helped.

Hehe no. WoW lost tonnes of its members after China introduced some laws, it's like half the size it was.

I'm referring to an infamous incident where a player lost 300 mil at Mobilizing Armies due to a glitch. When he posted on a the RSOF, a mod called him a liar throughout the thread then, when proven wrong, apologized to him in a condescending manner telling him he was lucky to get the apology.

 

And WoW's not down to half their peak population. They currently have 11.5 million subscribers- about the same number of active Runescape accounts.

Raven does have a point on the Mod thing when it came to MA. The guy had a legitimate beef, he was then ridiculed and called a liar by a Mod, and then when he was vindicated he got a half-assed apology. I get the not returning items, but he didn't need to be treated the way he was.

People do know, various games advertise this on their own behalf, and it is definitely not just Jagex.

 

I personally don't have the time to vote, so I won't, but I would vote to Jagex if i had the time.

I wouldn't vote for them for this year. Not after the content that they've given us. I would love it if Andrew could receive his own reward strictly for game programming.

I would vote for that. The fact that he created an entire, corporation creating MMORPG from his garage, or was it room?, is a feat worthy of much praise. The only other single programmer I can think of who comes close it Toady1, the creator of Dwarf Fortress.
