1000+ Worlds

Your argument implies that someone who doesn't appreciate questions is therefore an idiot with delusions of grandeur. "Other players have every right to ask questions. You have every right to ignore them. Now get over yourself." I wonder if you actually read his posts, because he's simply stating his own opinion. It's a sorry truth, but at a minimum, half of 'scape players likely have a double digit iq - and that's assuming that they have brains and not just a lump of [cabbage] in their skulls. Consequently, the questions they ask, one in ten of which is "?????????????????????????????????????[...]???????????" are generally an inconvenience because they aren't questions. It's spam that's technically a question.

Although a legitimate question, such as "What's the xp rate doing so and so to train this skill?" is in my opinion nothing to ignore, because it's sensible. I can also understand a lv5 asking how to make money, but someone simply begging their way through to start an account? To quote Sonic, they're being Lachtophers.

I personally don't agree with them. I don't see how its a crime to be asked for help by other players. I see the word 'noobs' being used more than once, but the fact is we were all 'noobs' at some point, and always will unless you're ranked number 1 because you'll always be a 'noob' to someone else. Players are always quite happy to show off to the lower levels when it suits them so take the rough with the smooth.

And how exactly are 1000+ total worlds a means of ignoring requests for help from other players? They're simply another high-level feature for players. Perhaps they do isolate some sects of the community, and perhaps they do encourage elitism to some extent, but for those people that say "1 h4v3 99 c00k r0f1 n00b i 0wn u" wouldn't people relatively new to the game be much better off unexposed to these people?

The question was "What's your opinion of 1000+ total worlds?" You've veered off on a tangent that you're unable to connect to the actual question.

And again, my personal opinion is that the point of 1000+ total is to be a high level requirement. 1000+ total is a joke in p2p; hence, it should be some sort of total xp requirement. I see far too many people that brag about having 1200 total and then have an amazing 7 digit total xp.

I find your judgemental comments about "half of 'scape players" to exactly reflect some of the negative attitudes being expressed on this thread about new or inexperienced players. RS has a huge variety of personalities that play, some are difficult to deal with and others are responsible and mature. RS has always been a 'community' and this is promoted frequently, to start splitting that 'community' into the haves and have nots will inevitably create snobbery, it's human nature. All you have to do is look at the posts on this thread to realise that! I have been playing RS for a very long time and I only occasionally get 'bothered' by a player (whatever level). Other than the odd beggar; who will be advised by me in no uncertain terms how to make money and to go do it lol, I find generally people ask the same kinds of questions and I am happy to answer if I can, i.e have you done such and such a quest? How long will it take them to train this skill? What's the best way of doing a certain skill at their level? And if it gets repetative I direct them towards a guide (usually tip.it ;-) ).

I don't think this has veered off topic at all, it is clear that some people are disagreeing with the idea of 1000+ worlds (or 2000+), I certainly am, it goes against the whole principle of a 'community' game. RS was never intended as a 'split' game, to try and change the structure of the game in this way at this late date is just wrong!

Well, even though you ignore them, there are still three factors that make them annoying.

1) Even though you ignore them, the words continue to "fill up" your chatbox as if you turned a chat option "off". This makes chatting to friends/clans at GE nearly impossible.

2) They are still there, so they still lag the GE.

3) With the exception of skill total worlds, they are EVERYWHERE! No matter what world you go on, there will be at least one autotyper at the GE.

That's why skill total worlds are kind of a convenience for trading at the GE.

No Sonic....I don't 'ignore' them....I put them on my 'ignore list' (see above), thats what that option is for; adding people to it that you don't want to interact with. That means I don't see anything they type, it a great option and I think I must have got nearly all of them on the world I spend most of my time in lol. So when I go to GE it's mostly just the usual chat and babble of the general public.

I think the idea of them is great, but the 1000 level is indeed too easy to accomplish in p2p. If people haven't said it, the requirement should be in experience, it' a bit more universal between p2p and f2p.

I don't know, making it easier for higher levels to train and not making it any easier for lower levels seems a bit off to me.

Sorta reminds me of the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer.

Meh, i have 1000+, so im not complaining.

First impressions, willows have tiny people in comparison to normal worlds.

So now its because the G.E is cluttered with useless babble? Who in their right mind tries to stand at the G.E. having a conversation with friends then complains about it afterwards. How absurd. Go to a quieter area. Problem solved. Even without the autoers its a pretty silly thing to do unless you've got public on friends.

At least the autoers at the G.E. can spell correctly most of the time, which is more than can be said from the babble of other players. Oh, did anybody think of reporting them?

But do you get those hidden messages if they are on your ignore list? I don't think you do. I could be wrong. Do you know actually KNOW?

P.S. Sorry if I'm wrong.

Also, if it's only one world, it's not too bad. Having spent time in f2p killing cows (as a high level f2p'er) all the questions about my full rune and zombie mask got annoying after a while. Frankly, as long as they keep the number of these worlds extremely low relative to the number of people who play RS, I see nothing wrong with them.

And yeah,. 1500 or 2000+ for p2p. And do something to filter out low level ex-membs.

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

F2P have 15 skills and need 1000 total levels, P2P have 24 skills, yet you want 2000+ total level worlds? I don't think JaGex would do that simply because the ratio is way out.

It actually works out as P2P players needing 1600 total... which seems quite low.

I don't know, if there was a P2P version out I'd probably try it :)

I read the first couple of posts, skipped the flaming, and thought I'd add my two cents:

I don't like that Jagex seems to be indifferent between the F2P total and the P2P total. While 1000 total may be very high for pure F2P, 1000 is nothing for a P2Per.

This problem is the same for a P2P player coming into a F2P world - the majority of their skill total can easily come from P2P only.

Jagex has tried to minimize the P2P advantage in F2P, by not only removing nearly all references between the two games, but by also removing agility's effect.

I think the easiest solution is to put an arbitrary minimum level in each skill, say 50, and then a total. 1000 is fine for F2P, 1600 is fine for P2P, but don't mix and match the different levels.

As to whether or not this creates elitism - who cares? As of right now, there are only 2 of these worlds. I understand that Jagex might want to put in more of them. If it starts getting too out of hand (riots, rants, etc.) then Jagex will be very responsive. Over this past year there have been a number of times where they actually listened to player feedback, and changed the game because of it.

Also, when I've been in the F2P skill total world, I found there were a lot more questioning of levels. This happened all over, and frankly it got annoying. There was much less begging for 5k, but I rarely get that anymore anyway.

99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me!

The 1000+ worlds don't really seem to do much of anything. In members, that's not that high. The same problems that people would want a level total world for are still present. The 60's and the 70's ask tons of questions and have the boldness to ask for borrows and levels for gear. 1500+ would help with that a lot. 2000+ and the world would be dead though.. lol.

I disagree with the "showing off" argument. Don't P2Pers always log on to F2p worlds to show off? I think on F2P worlds, 1000 Total is great, as it is mostly high-leveled F2P and former members training in a noob-free(generally) area. As for 2000+ worlds, I COMPLETELY DISAGREE! 2000+ worlds would be insanely empty all the time, giving these few people lots of free space to claim popular training areas all to themselves. If anything, we could have 500- worlds, where people with a Total Level lower than 500 can train without higher-levels pushing them out.

About the 500- argument, most mid-leveled skillers have that total level, so it can still create a problem there.

For 2000+ worlds, I guess I shall agree with you as well. Maybe they should create 1600+ worlds for P2P or something.

I never liked the idea of separating worlds due to levels. Not only is it stereotypical and unfair to the legit low levels, but it ruins the spirit of the game. RuneScape is a world of adventure. World. And a world contains a mixture of all people, or levels. It does create a sense of elitism, no matter what you say, subconsciously throughout the game. Add the fact that worlds like these would allow the idea of more level-separated worlds, turning RuneScape into a world-hopping game as the more levels you get.

Personally I don't really care about the skill total worlds. They aren't overflowing with players, and I actually like the idea of talking to and helping out newer players.

The Idea of 1000+ worlds was in the right place. Unfortunately Jagex has once again confused levels, with maturity. Personally I actually find more egoists hanging around on 1000+ who just want to show off, ironically to everyone else who also has the same total. P2P 1000+ is pointless, because it's easily attainable. Hence 1000+ worlds are rather pointless

What they need now is a "For grown ups" World, where to access you have to pass a maturity test, an IQ test, played for more than 2 years and pass a one-on-one conversation test with a mod. Except it's that it's spontaneous and you don't know it's him.

Just because they aim at a mature crowd, doesn't mean they won't pick up a few immature children, who will tell their friends, then it'll eventually get on miniclip, then all the high-leveled mature people will [bleep] about it...sound familiar?
