Exactly why we should do it first. It's easy.

Maybe we should do the last world war, where Britannia was evicted from Earth. That seems the most interesting, and had the most factions (it basically had everyone)

The only difference between a disagreement between friends, an argument between strangers, and a feud between enemies is the ability to reconcile.

Oh yeah, that one. I like that idea too. To be honest, that battle reminded me a lot of Code Geass.

I think, if we are going to do this, we should create a character which we can agree on, and then the environment they live in...since Terran Solider #03232 is going to have a pretty different life to Sally Jenkins, aged 9, of the Britannica Institute for the specifically able....Similarly the Licht will have a different story entirely.

So there are alot of things 'up in the air'

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Well we could have a short story about each character from each faction, and then they all meet somehow, in a battle where everyone fought. Only thing I can think of is when the Licht helped invade Turkey, and then Dusty came along, or when the Licht invaded Japan, and Dusty also came along for that.

The only difference between a disagreement between friends, an argument between strangers, and a feud between enemies is the ability to reconcile.

Or we could just have a story that didn't have the 'hand of god' over it...

'Sally was a normal kid, but then she decided to join the army and, despite Britannia being totally seperate from Earth, was posted to Turkey, where, for some reason, seven other people arrived with similar stories...'

Maybe a common theme could be the new Olympics being started, which could feature heavily in 'whatever character's' planet was held, but just be on the tv or something in all the others...

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Who says they have to have similar backgrounds, and who says they all have to survive until the decisive battle?

You could have one die earlier on, and have his death affect the decisive battle in some indirect manner.

This is also the time when war was raging on Earth, before Brittannia was exiled.

2Xeo5.png

It is just experiance of roleplaying...people run out of ideas, or are afraid of starting new ideas because it disrupts the main story line...so the story ends up running 'Stuff is going on, character decides to travel to where everone else is for no explainable reason, character arrives, character hangs around then decides to go to where someone else is, they meet, they meet some other people, everyone had met up and....then they fight!'

And so the story tends to become 1 story told 7 times in slightly different ways.

The same is generally true with novels...everyone heads, inexplicably, for one point, they arrive and then they stick together from then on...or split off in groups and do specific missions. The stories tend to feel 'Godded' because unexpecting things are resolved so quickly...

Think about Dungeoneering, there is no 'Godded' feeling because there is no overal goal, and, by miracle of Dusty trying to kill everyone at the start, groups didn't form too well and so lots of different stories emerged...generally that doesn't happen.

So I am just warning that 'Decisive Battles' tend to wreck stories.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

I don't know...Downfall seems a bit strong, the Tavern is actually growing in weird and wonderful directions, it is only Hegemony which has crashed out.

archi. id like to say that there are about 5 threads, at least, that have RP's in them, that have died. mine for example. i post saying that theres a session, no one comes. nex'x reanimated is either dead or dead for an indefinite amount of time. planettering is dead or going as slow as a snail. cyber duels is dead.

I think all the characters should die in quick succession at the end. That creates strong emotion =b

10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need
10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc

Remember, Remember, the 4th of November

RIP Dawngate ;-;

But they don't have to team up at all, they could be on different sides. Or they could be police trying to stop rioting, or pilots, or civilians with an interesting experience.

I don't want all of the characters to meet up for no reason at all, and I'd want the stories and personalities as varied as possible.

Cool, just making sure people are on the same page(or, as it were, different pages)

Anywho

. id like to say that there are about 5 threads, at least, that have RP's in them, that have died.

Threads constantly die, and new ones spring up in their place.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

That would be a fairly interesting story, though, I think there would not be too much to do, since we would go around, shoot everything and then...

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

[This will probably be the last report that I ever make on this thread.]

Texas has added a new program to their prisons system -- an alternate choice for death row inmates. Instead of getting a standard execution (firing squad or gallows), any WHITE MALE can choose to participate in the nationally-televised (and very popular) War Games. The War Games are re-enactments of wars such as the American Civil War or the American Revolution. Inmates are given uniforms and weapons (based on historical-accuracy) and live ammunition. Artillery is used as well, and chains can be attached to cannonballs in certain battles. If an inmate successfully survives at least 10 battles, they are released. However, if they commit a crime after receiving an "honorable discharge" from the Texan Penitentiary Network, the person will be immediately executed (often without trial).

The Texan government is debating whether or not women and other races can participate in the War Games, but it is a deeply-divided issue.

The Little League of Nations has placed a boycott against the Republic of Texas. The Republic is threatening to break the Treaty of Dallas and invade the long-disputed East Michigan region (which as part of the treaty was recognized as Columbian territory).

Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.

What if we made it a Dungeoneering style roleplay?

Like we would all be soldiers in the Italo-Japanese War, and the anthrax bombing destroy much of the world, except an island in the central pacific which our company was stationed on. We have to survive on this island and coexist, but unfortunately the anthrax caused mutations so that half of the island is swarming with monsters.

Or something to that effect.

...no.

Mather, the speed of research, dates and times would obviously be altered so as not to affect the writing, and some fiction would probably be thrown in as well.

I like to think of it as giving the mooks a face. We play the game like a game, and then somebody writes a book which gives Terran Marine #1457429 a face, and a personality, before being send to his death.

I say we do this one first, since it's all fresh in our minds.

First Hegemony was way more interesting. The classic struggle of Good vs Evil, gogogo!

I don't know...Downfall seems a bit strong, the Tavern is actually growing in weird and wonderful directions, it is only Hegemony which has crashed out.

Meh. Hegemony was the only game I enjoyed playing.

Who's in on firing Archi as hegemony's mod since he apparently only intends to kill it?

Vetoed.

Um. The games dead so your veto is meaningless.

I vote yes for the inevitable 3rd incarnation of the Hegemony.

Alright, lets look at this.

Without Archi, Hegemony is a screaming match and eventually people just ignore each other, and the game fractures into several different games, each being played by a single person with their ideal conditions.

With Archi, you get annoyed because he does what he believes is logical, since there is no dice roll to determine the results.

Sere was too busy in real life to moderate things, realistically.

I call catch 22.

Logic takes a backseat to not destroying the game because you got annoyed.

guys should i make hegemony 3 ; attack of the killer dustmites

the whole world unifies in an attack against trillions of little bugs that threaten to wipe every creature from the earth

I actually had an idea that we could play an RPG based around Starship Troopers where the world is unified under the Terran Federation, and we are fighting aliens (giant intelligent bugs) in order to prevent them from planting their eggs and wiping us out. *shrugs*

Oh, I think that there are two ideas concerning a Hegemony-based series of stories:

-Terran Federation (Germanic, first incarnation)

-Republic of Texas (Fall of American Hegemony and Rise of Totalitarian Government, second incarnation)

I think both would be good stories, and the Texas Series would have a great satirical theme. (Refer to my last report concerning the use of inmates in war games that are being televised on national television, as well as the race laws that the new Texan regime has enacted.)

Yeah but Texans are fat.

Not all of them. ;)

Anyway, that gives a good idea for describing social life in the Texan Republic: Rampant corrupt corporatism and over-consumption. Add this, along with constant anti-Communist propaganda, race laws, and prison brutality, and you have the components for a good story.

"There is also a far-right movement (and you would think that they couldn't go even further right) within Texas politics called the LaRouche National Movement. It believes in a global conspiracy involving the British Empire, which is still operating in Buckingham Palace and controls the global banks and is responsible for the fall of the USSR and both World Wars. Charles LaRouche advocates a radical militarist policy as the answer to this hidden threat and calls on the youth of America (Texas) to rise arms against this silent oppressor and assassinate the English and Columbian governments."

Well, it looks like Hegemony is going to rest in peace for good. I only played it for like 2 weeks on the first thread, but those two weeks were probably the most interesting times Iceland ever had. Oh well. Goodbye, Hegemony.

*lights computer on fire and puts it in a boat, then lets it off to sea* Oh crap, it's the cops! RUUUUUUUN!

I would also like to request a 3-day extension for this thread to remain open in order to bounce around a few ideas about the new Hegemony-inspired stories.

tbh Sere, the only interesting thing that happened in Hegemony ever was the 'arms race' between Brazil, Terran Fed and the rest of the world. even more so than the actual war. [which was p crap]

So it's essentially just a story about Texas in the 60s?

It's a satirical version, yes. I'm just taking it to new heights.
