A gold standard will not work... The German-Franco state proposes a standard currency throughout FETA which would be called the argent. It would have the same denominations as the euro etc. etc.

 

The gold standard will work, but only in either a small country or the Federation. The Federation currently has enough gold to satisfy its population, but it needs to work on slowing down or even decelerating the population growth.

 

This can be accomplished by providing tax cuts for families that do not have children. Over time, the tax cuts could be abolished, and incentives could possibly be provided for stable birth rates.

I don't know what the value of a Leu in relation to a measurment of gold is. The Leu is basically the same value as a present day Euro.

Okay then... All countries aside from the SSR in FETA are preparing to adopt the argent. This should take around a year to complete and will give a far more stable currency then that which currently exists.

Everyone's debt is clear, and the global market is set to rebuilt itself. The transition wasn't even intentional (as far as the global recession). All this is doing is making the price of gold rise dramatically. By about... 10 times? No, way more than that. There's only a few trillion dollars in gold in the world. Money doesn't have to have a backing, if it's dealt with well. If a dollar can buy you a sandwich, a real, physical thing, then it has backing. If you can take 100 bucks and buy a ton of iron, it has backing. So on.

EDIT: Archi if he can suddenly give us all a massive loss of GDP (and ignore the fact that the US is a service based economy and going isolationist/loosing all creditors would ruin it)I see no reason why I cannot simply exchange the dollars for a new currency.
