into excel.

If you just use the straight:

=2*a1/a1^2+1

though -6 works...

No no, the +1 is also under the 2x.

 

So the equation is:

 

2x/(x^2 + 1) = 2/3

 

First you cross multiply

 

6x = 2x^2 + 2

 

Subtract 6x from both sides

 

0=2x^2 - 6x + 2

 

Then solve the quadratic using either the the quadratic equation, or factoring

 

6 plus or minus the square root of (36-16)

Brute Force=Trial and Error

Binary Chops= Is answer too big and gett bigger or too small and get smaller when the number is bigger? If yes then discard all numbers higher than said number.
