Harakiri
I can't speak for others, but Runescape is dead to me because of the free exp' weekend debacle.Explain to me the debacle? I have no clue what is wrong with it, they do it in quite a few games, unless there is a major problem with it that I haven't heard of then I think it's a good idea. The reasons are personal, thus they can not be debated. Go ahead and consider personal opinions idiocy, but fun is based on personal opinion. Why play what you don't enjoy? If Runescape is dead to you get over it. Quit mourning for a fallen comrade, because all it does is make it harder to cope with your loss. If you want to complain about how Runescape has changed that is one thing, but writing one sentence that makes no sense and complaining about the smallest of updates is stupid. The opinion that the new hitpoint system is destroying the game is idiocy, plain and simple. It destroys absolutely nothing. Runescape's fan base is sadly made up a lot by 4 year olds who cannot cope with change, and the smallest change makes them cry. Let's all remember the tirades when Jagex changed the game's font. Are you going to start riots and petitions and quit the game over the font? That is idiocy, while it may be your opinion, it is stupid to leave the game for such petty reasons as Hitpoints having an extra number or the font changing. They are small updates that are trying to help players. The only people who diligently complain usually are the people who have played for years. Which is sad, because as a person who has played Runescape for years, I personally can find worse instances in Runescape's history, worse bumps in the road than a font change or hitpoint update that led to many people quitting. But when you are quitting because you cannot take small changes to the games engine, small changes that affect nothing but what you see on the screen, make nothing harder or easier. These updates recently have become the jumping point for petitions for main moderators to step down because of their idiocy, large riots for no reason, huge spammings throughout the RSOF and every other RS forum. Do you see what I mean. This is small compared to what they have done before and to quit and complain is stupid. This update has not affected the game at all. It has added one extra number. The extra XP weekend I have not paid attention to, so if you want to tell me what some of the problems are then I would be glad to hear you out. All I hear anymore on these forums are complaints about new updates, rarely do I hear about things as a whole. And it is usually the same people who complain, the same people who can't jump over the small obstacle known as change. Life is about change, what is going to happen when these people get out of their mom's houses and have to live on their own? Are they going to rant that they are going to quit life because they have to work for their GP and their Life Points are slowly deteriorating? Leave? I already have. Rioting about things is dumb, but you must admit they are kinda funny. Do people really think Jagex cares?Yet you continue to complain about the game, even though you quit? If you quit over these petty updates then you need to reconsider what you've been thinking. Is it worth quitting a game you apparently love over the smallest update that hasn't been used to it's full potential? And riots don't make me laugh, they make me question the IQ of humanity as a whole. Jagex doesn't care. They are going to continue doing what they do, unless they see a huge decrease in people playing the game, they are not going to fix what is ultimately not a problem. And if you are a regular complainer who didn't see this coming, didn't think Jagex would screw up you're an idiot. I don't mean I think Jagex screwed up, I mean that you personally think Jagex screwed up. Those who continue to play because you expect the game to go back to whatever the hell you remember it to be (I remember it being a bot infested, scammer infested, cheap Java based game. Hell, it's still a cheap Java based game) should have quit a long time ago. And here is a quick idea, remember that, as I said, this is a cheap Java based game. They have room to change things, to do things they want to do because they don't have a player base of 16 million people. They have room to mess around. If a couple people quit the game over an update, more people come in. I mean, think about it. If a game like WoW changed its hitpoint system think of the giant riots, the mass hysteria that would explode because of it. They would lose tons of people, major sources of income. Jagex could probably financially work around a small portion of their income leaving, because where those people who left the game went, more will come in. In other words, player-wise and financial-wise, Jagex has room to experiment, to try new things. I am also sure though that they didn't think such a huge uproar would happen over these small updates. Those are just my ideas. I just don't see the point of complaining about something that is ultimately not a problem. This is what all the complainers sound like to me (I am going to use the same points on all the threads about this, and this same video because each thread can easily be counter-ranted using the same points and examples). Will there still be food? I'm kind of hungry... OT: Seriously, Runescape hasn't died. My proof? www.runescape.com there's my proof. The website's still up, the game's still functioning, there are still millions of players playing it. Just because one player left because he can't handle hitting higher numbers doesn't mean the game is dead. If the game's dead to YOU, so be it, but make that clear, and preferably, don't speak for the rest of us who still enjoy the game because it's just a game. I don't see the point in complaining about it. ~ Proud Father ~ Proud (Currently Deployed) Army National Guardsmen ~ Proud Lakota ~ Retired Tip.It Crew ~

Atonisk
How many times does RS die every year? >_> I guess this was probably the most drastic change in recent history, as it was a skill name change, an oddly implemented HP update, and a new lobby system but, after all the nausea passed, it was just back to business as usual. Do I like the updates? No, not really. But Jagex has done so many more drastic things in the past that if you've weathered that then this really isn't a big deal. After all, I've been playing over nine years at this point...

Wachiru
I might respectfully point out that your terminology is vaguely flawed. Perhaps to you the term "Dead" means not longer fun. But according to our dear friend Webster..1. No longer living; deprived of life: dead people; dead flowers; dead animals. 2. Brain-dead. 3. Not endowed with life; inanimate: Now, by definition the game cannot be dead according to definition one...It never had life to begin with. In a similar context, it never had a brain therefore it cannot be brain-dead. (Which is not necessarily true for it's developers) *chuckles*BUT it is dead due to definition three, it is *inanimate!* And so, the ever repeating cycle continues, as it has since conception, Jagex improves, some like some dislike, many leave, more join. And hate is thrown. and in the end... It doesn't matter... --Wachiru --Wachiru Below is me, when I am after flamers, haters, and various other noobly professions... Cheers. Wachiru.Great, now explain how that is relevant then. It just seems you're trying to spin what we're saying by using a different definition for dead then we're to make our argument sound really dumb. You know we don't mean it's physically dead, so why even bother wasting time by pointing it out? Now if you're saying that you're not using the official definition of dead, and you know what we're saying. Why then are you telling us that we don't mean physically dead we we use the word dead. I think we know what we're implying by the very context we're using the word in. Are you going to tell someone the official definition of cool now when they tell you to cool off? I could go on, but I think (hope) you get the point.

FooK-A-Ji
Also, remember to add a [cabbage]load of smilies. Obviously there is a need for these kind of topic posts, since they get 2x-3x the amount of replies compared to any other rants. It seems to me, that the need to rant about Jagex/RS, is far surpassed by other peoples needs to sound more clever than the OP or just generally act degrading towards the OP. Perhaps these people deserve their own forum, where they can pat eachother on their backs, meanwhile confirming eachother of their superiority over all mankind.
