Now that Overloads, Turmoil, and Yak are relatively common, monster hunting has been changed significantly. Soloing bosses is much easier, and trips can last magnitudes longer.

 

My question is, what is your new preferred monster hunting boss to solo, and why?

 

I've also found some data on droprates.

 

Calculation Method:

Estimated profit = Droprate * value

Profit per hour = Kill rate * estimated profit

Profit per hour will be slightly overestimated, as it neglects overhead time (banking, KC)

Droprates were found from player droplogs, on various forums and the Adv log.

*Droprate on DK hybrid was ballparked. Most other things are based on data.

I don't really solo much of anything. I'll occasionally take down the mole, and have soloed Bandos for one kill. Other than that, the only soloing I do is training against stuff.

I stopped monster hunting a while back, in favor of merchanting.

 

But I think the age of monster hunting has just begun.

Monster hunting received a superficial boost thanks to inflation, but ignoring that I would say GWD, TD's and such are not as profitable as they used to be.

More people are simply realizing that they are great money makers.

 

Jagex has promised alot of new bosses, and higher level gear.

My money is that these new bosses, high lvl dungeon instances, etc, will be where the money is at.

Just a matter of being prepared the moment those bosses are released.

I started playing again just a little too late. It is going to be VERY hard to get back into monster hunting with the little amount of cash/gear that I currently have. But damn I'm going to try my hardest! Now I just need Leesters to come back...:)

I agree with this, I often make more money from bones and hides by doing this, than I would by getting hatchets or rings. Solo hybriding can guarantee 100+ of each, every trip.

Bandos is by far my favourite boss to solo, just because of the quick KC. KC only takes 5 mins max, and getting into the boss room quickly for some action appeals to me greatly :)

Yep, and the talismans seem a little low too. Last trip I had 8.4m in loot. I had only one big drop, a D axe. The rest is from bones and hides (140 of each) and Talismans (Nearly 3m all together) + miscellanious. To me it seems you profit more of just talismans, than axes.

 

Now, to answer your question: I recently had 2 Dag tasks, and decided to kill Dk's for them, and I totally fell in love. It's so damn fast now with full slayer helm, overloads, (and turmoil if I feel like it) + very very consistent money (6m in non special drops on a 3h trip).

The only problem I have is if you dont have any of the 3 (like myself) you have no chance in hell to even think about bosshunting because of how easily you can be crashed.

DKS, still. I mage, for the most part. I always profit w/ yak, and daxe / zerker are my favorite looking drops.

 

 

GWD gets boring, and I have really crappy luck.

 

Same for CB, at ~110 hours, seen 1 spectral.

 

And DKS maging is good money on average. I average 2-3 of his good drops a trip, and guaranteed 1m+ in bones/hides/RS plate/etc. Also, I don't need a team.

When I feel the need to make cash, I'll solo TDs. Rarely any competition in terms of find spots, cheap resources, and pretty safe as well (for the spot I use anyway). Granted I'm not the best boss hunter around since I use welfare gear, I still managed to get a claw every time I attempt for one within three days.

I just have to say, the drop log is the most in-depth loog I've *ever* seen. Kudos to the person who recorded it.

Use burstinglobs cc. There are a bunch of lob bursters in there who need partners as well.

Corp is 25/hr for 6 people

But the non boss drops are too significant too leave out, they average out to around 300k/kill

I left them in, but understimated them @ 100K per kill. either way, the approximate profit per hour balances out (since i overestimated corp kills/hr)

alright but may I add divine's street is around 1.5b so the average between street and ge is around 1b, ely seems right though
