Oh yes, and technology is being developed with Canadian companies to extract oil from the oil sand at even cheaper prices. Currently in 2010, the price is slightly higher than conventional crude, but with government subsidies, should be around the same price.

Well are only 2 hours into the game, so we can still change stuff.

We could just, y'know, pause the game and work it out before continuing. I'm not a big fan of doing something, then having to rework everything because it changes. Doesn't mean that I agree or disagree with the changes, it just means I don't like doing it twice.

To be honest, we played without the US in the game for the longest. It added a lot more fun to the game.

Since I'm basically the only one affected by this, what we could do is have all developed countries that are already considered developed countries have a GDP of one trillion, second world countries have a GDP of half a trillion, and third world have a GDP of their actual real life GDP.

 

Also, if this happens, I am taking Canada.

It was a lot more fun when we played Hegemony because we DIDN'T start off the same. Even though we're unequal, that doesn't mean nations such as Iran or Brazil can't become superpowers. You just need to be more creative and less idiotic.

 

If the US is too much of a problem, then we could make it a shadow country. That's what we did with China and the US in the original game. It was fun.

 

It would also be more fun if annexations required force.

Well it would be the USA and Japan, since they are rather far ahead...

 

But I think changing it to 1.5 trillion for first world countries and 750 billion for second world countries would be easy enough.

Also, I request that I begin with the territory of the United States and Canada, though only with the GDP of Canada. This is because if the US became a shadow country, any chance of expansion would be incredibly limited, considering...the US is in the center of the continent.

What was the problem with the GDP system? It seemed fine to me.

 

Archi, instead of forcing us to do th hegemony your way why can't we do it how we did it for all 400 pages before we got moved to falador tavern, no-one complained and everyone was happy.

Systems aren't fun, a bit of guesswork never hurt anyone (well, actually it has countless times but in this context never)

I'd say balance would be much better if the US and China were just shadow countries like in the first game.

 

India is a special case, because of all the poverty.

How about we keep gdp's how they are, and have it like this.

If you invest 100% into infrastructure, over 10 years, you have a 60% IAG growth, if your gdp is under 100 billion.

50% if under 500 billion

40 if under 1 trillion

30 if under 3

20 if under 7

10 for under 10

2% for anything above 10

That means that it'll even out, but the countries that start higher will still have a lead for a while. This way all countries can catch up, it just takes time.

Once you get to the next level it'll go down to that rate, etc.

And Japan? In 2000, Japan was a heck of a lot richer than China, I think.

 

 

 

 

Also, what of my request to start with the territory of Canada and the US, but only the GDP of Canada? Considering that I'm giving up my country, and as Canada, I can't expand anywhere with the US there, where it's essentially invincible.

There was no need for this IAG system, GDP was accurate and even if it was slightly unrealistic it still worked.

Your making rules for things that no-ones complaining about.

For reference, for brazil it would take 25 years ish to get from 1.5-> 3 trillion. To get from 3 trillion to 7 it would take another 40. From 7 trillion to 10 it would take another 35. So to get from 1.5 trillion to 10 trillion it would take 100 days. During that time the US would go from 13 trillion -> 20 trillion.
