Rather than getting a decent forum package that could sustain their activity and help]. them enforce a minimum quality in posts by enforcing their own rules, they split up the community so they don't have to worry about so many people. I'm more than a little upset. I suppose if this is the first step they have to take to fixing their systems, it's all well and good...but if this is any indication on how they intend to solve these issues...Well, RIP RSOF. The 50+ page monster still exists, spam is still abundant, trolling is a given, there's no effective way to report rule breaking posts, and so on. This fixes almost nothing. I still think the main problem is the last thing you touched upon. They have no effective way of reporting spam. When i last went there, there was just a thread you would post in and copy/paste the Qfc of the thread with spam. That is hugely insufficient and many probably do not even know of that and think there is just no way of reporting. I think it would benefit Jagex to have a full forum conversion to another software, or to upgrade their own which they use, just to at least to create a report function. A mass forum clean out is what is needed and to then keep it clean. Want to be my friend? And take a REALLY hard line on persistent spammers, 6 month bans things like that. They claim the forums are some of the busiest in the world, yet they're practically in the dark ages in terms of technology and the ability for a poster to customise their posts, signatures profiles etc. They made a slight headway with the in-game chat head but since then nothing. I have to say, I'm pissed. Future Updates was one of the few good RSOFsections and now they want us to just post in General? Join Future Update News! I can see how this will for one, confuse a lot of people, and two, frustrate and put a lot of people off from using them again. Long live TIF! I also pretty much just use it for her threads. However they forgot to add the ability to create topics in there, so every one seems to be using tactics as the old pvm forum right now. jimmy_jim Posted April 20, 2010 Share Posted April 20, 2010 I'm pretty surprised they did this, actually, they were talking about some big forum update coming this year and I was expecting the ability to post pictures, bold, underline, etc. All this update is doing is breaking up the RuneScape community into different groups based on your skills, which I thought Jagex were trying to get away from.
