During the last year or so, it has become apparent that our forums are just too busy and fast-moving for most of our forum-users needs. This can lead to frustrations such as spending a long time creating a thread only for it to disappear off the forums after a couple of days, or threads receiving lots of spam or off-topic posts from people who are less invested in a particular discussion.

 

As a result, we have created communities within the forums based on your in-game levels and membership status. To start with, there are three member communities and one free-to-play communities. Each of these forum communities enables players with similar in-game levels to discuss tactics and general game discussions relevant to their levels.

 

In addition to the new communities, there are still shared forums accessible by all players, where youre be able to meet with your clan mates, organise events and roleplaying, trade, and ask other players for help. We have also introduced a new forum where players with level 99 in one or more skills can plan their next maxing party and we will be looking to offer more forums to our growing language communities.

 

We are planning to gradually bring more free-players into the forum community, so that they too can join in and get involved with organising events and contributing to general game discussions and advice. We may also look to create more forum communities in the future.

 

All of these changes should help to improve the pace of the forums, but, most importantly, improve your experience on our forums by creating like-minded communities with similar levels of knowledge and experience. Maybe youll even make some new friends in the process!

Seems like a good idea.. Although I hardly ever use them so its not really going to bother me either way.

I think it cuts down player interaction on the forums. For example is like if Tif suddenly split the users into three groups based on post counts, there will be less players to interact to.

nvm, i found them. They are accessible by entering the forums and then clicking on the flags at the top of the page.

Future updates subforum is gone. I loved that place.

Future Updates was the only thing I used on RSOF (since tip.it and other popular fan forums don't have it).

Threads speculating about future content will belong in either the General or Suggestions areas depending on what they are discussing. An enhancement to something that already exists would go in General, whereas a discussion about something that doesn't exist at all may be better suited to Suggestions.

 

Well...I don't really understand this that much, general for improving existing content threads and suggestion for future content threads?

I feel it needlessly splits the community. Then again, I'm not an avid user of RSOF these days, so it doesn't really affect me.

My thread ranting about gop was deleted... it had 40+ supporters.

I'm guessing this makes it easier for Jagex to sort through and ignore F2P. Good fight, jagex.

Mod Kathy on the forums is being a little [bleep]. She keeps asking people to "explain the reasons why you want future updates back?" And then saying "we aren't going to bring it back, but keep trying".

 

Jagex infuriate me sometimes! Infact most of the time at the moment. Their attitude towards their players has turned incredibly sour. RSOF shall not even be getting a glance from me from now on.

The fact that you want the forum back will be passed on.

 

Separate from that, after you have read through the stickies and counted to ten, what do you think about the communities and the new shared forums? :)

As long as Jagex remains as a pacifier and refuses to dish out proper temporary bans on those foul mouthed kiddos, I don't see how spliting or integrating the communities together would change anything.

I guess we can now see who spams up the RSOF more - 1000+ F2Pers, 0-1400 Members, 1400-1800 Members, or 1800+ Members.

I'd like to bet its not anyone with 1000+ in stats...

At least now the 1800+ can rant about losing their 76k'd ags in a different forum then -1400 rant about losing their 76k'd ags.
