jayc3399
I'm currently at 77 mage and I'm looking to level it up, I'd preter using combat spells to get the HP and Def xp verses the other common methods for leveling magic. Any suggestions on monsters to kill with magic would be greatly appreciated. Also I'm dealing with a rather small budget so something like barraging is out of the question. I have access to all the spell books. ** Second Question*** For battle robes do you have to wear the hood? If you do is it worth using them instead of a Full Slayer Helm on slayer tasks? ** Third Quest :) ** I'm currently maging an Iron Dragon task, using fire bolt and gauntlets, would it be worth while to switch to say fire wave? jayc3399
From my experience metal dragons aren't fun. And I'm a little shy of Abyssal Demons. Skeptical
If you have the slayer level, Abyssal Demons are wonderful Huh. I'd never heard that, but some research says that 85 slayer would be worth getting for that reason alone. "Those who give up their liberty for more security neither deserve liberty nor security." Nifflin
You could even try bursting, don't know if you are there yet but the crims are really nice. If you want money try killing metal drags long term, you will almost break even. Also barrows is OK for fun but extremely slow exp. Zephy
Blue dragons are good profit and reasonable mage exp, and their mage defense is quite low that I casted in dhides at 65-70 and hit consistently. Nifflin
I've never heard of them being good to mage either, I think this is false. SirIzenhime
Non metal dragons are supposed to have a high magic defense (at least compared to most other monsters), the only dragon he should really be maging are metals or greens, since greens are just plain weak anyways. Zephy
Greens have unusually high mage defense for their level.Blues have unusually low mage defense for their level.Reds are pretty average, but high level at that.Blacks are resistant to pretty much everything.Metals have very good resistance to everything, but mage and stab are still relative weaknesses for them. EDIT: I'm doing a mage run on blues right now. One splash in like 100 casts. All I wear is a staff and a shield. EDIT2: Good accuracy on greens too. Still significant misses but mostly hits. That's strange. Either they got changed or 99 mage actually makes a big difference. My original results at around 70ish mage were mostly hits on blues at even +20 mage bonus and almost no hits on greens. Disclaimer: The above is probably inaccurate. Zephy
What spell do you use on them?Originally, I trained on blue dragons with fire bolt and chaos gauntlets, so they would hit as much as a blast. Cptbaker08
I say yes to the third question. I can use CoG on them and come out even with the bones and make a profit with everything else they drop, that was before the hex crest came out. Once you get 80 magic i would consider looking into that spell while using charge. Andy
I haven't trained my mage since level 70ish, all I do is monster hunt with mage. I find that soloing rex, barrowing and metal dragons are all great mage exp, along with defence (ALWAYS USE defensive exp)
